I've had a bit of a traumatic few days that resulted in no sleep for almost two days, so wasn't up to moderating yesterdays game once my password issues had been sorted later in the day. I did look back in the new admin panel and it indicated that I can still post images, however, my review will always be at the bottom of the page as the newest posts always show as the first post, so to see my reviews from now you will as the day goes on have to look to the end of the comments.
There may be a possibility that I can incorporate my reviews into the sites structure so that it remains at the top of the page, but I'm no web site designer, so will need to research how this can be accomplished. As I have access to the admin panel, this should be possible. I may ask the owners how to do this or at least ask permission to do so.
Today's review will be a no frills basic review as I have some very important matters to attend to today that are time sensitive and if I don't complete the tasks I could lose around £1600. Hopefully things will be as back to normal as they can be considering the changes the owners have made.
With respect to using a Facebook account. As I mentioned yesterday, I personally don't use them and my children's were abandoned more or less as soon as they created them, so I tried to use one of my children's abandoned accounts yesterday to get yesterdays game, but it failed so I resorted to one of my old emails. and was able to get the game. Apparently there can be problems using Firefox so I opened the email in Waterfox (the 64 bit version of Firefox) and got a download link, Previously when I've tried to get programs from the sister site I've never been able to when I've used Firefox. For those concerned with privacy and email spamming, you could set up an email specifically for the giveaway site so that you only get emails from the giveaway site. If you started to get spam, you'd then know whether or not the giveaway team were passing on your emails.
If you are not happy with today's game there's another massive sale on over on Steam called The Lunar New Year Sale, with thousands of games on sale from 10% off to 90% off. You can jump right to the Steam store HERE
There are almost one thousand games on sale for less than a pound each (£1) or approximately $1.50. The cheapest are £0.39 (approx $0.50)
Anyway, here's a short borrowed review of today's game:
Royal Envoy: Campaign for the Crown:
Royal Envoy: Campaign for the Crown has a hefty legacy to live up to. Previous installments in the series pretty much perfected the road-repairing, house-upgrading time management formula. What could Campaign for the Crown possibly bring to the table? Well it turns out, more of the same, along with generous doses of humor and well-balanced creative diversions.
Royal Envoy: Campaign for the Crown is all about helping out the king. A character named Swindler has popped out of the woodworks, challenging the king to his rule. It is declared that something called an “election” shall be held to determine who will be the new king. After consulting his advisor, the king decides he needs your help to win this so-called election. Unfortunately, Swindler is one step ahead. He’s traveling through the land issuing false royal orders to tear down villages and tax the people into starvation. We can’t have that, now can we? It’s your job to rebuild the villages and restore the people’s faith in the king before Swindler wins the popularity contest!
Royal Envoy: Campaign for the Crown plays like previous entries in the series, handing you the tools you need to build and repair structures while managing workers and resources. Everything can be accomplished with simple clicks of the mouse. Check the level tasks before you start playing, then click on building plots and choose which structure to erect. Maybe you need cabins and cottages that generate gold, maybe you need a sawmill to produce lumber. Either way, a worker automatically sets himself to the task, and all you have to do is make sure you have the gold necessary to fund it. Resources pop out when generated and can be gathered by moving your cursor over top of them. Keep your workers busy and your coffers shall forever be filled!
To complete a level, you have to meet the goals listed at the top of the screen. Level tasks in Royal Envoy: Campaign for the Crown range from simple “build X number of houses” to more complex affairs that involve repairs, food shortages, and gold quotas to meet. The goals usually tie into each other quite well, meaning you won’t have too difficult of a time making it all work out. Work as efficiently as you can to earn more stars at the end of the level, as each one counts towards the king’s approval rating!
Shaking things up a bit from time to time, Campaign for the Crown features special stages that function as sort of mini-games along with in-level tasks that deviate from the norm. You might find yourself luring elephants around with carrots in one stage, then saving workers from a cave-in in the gold mine the next. Features like this really round out the Royal Envoy: Campaign for the Crown experience and make it stand out as one of the better time management games on the market.
Royal Envoy: Campaign for the Crown employs a fantastic sense of humor that makes a parody out of politics, gaming, the media, and more. It’s all in good fun, of course, and the over-the-top news reports and outlandish events are easily one of the game’s high points. Swindler pulls some really nasty practical jokes during his “campaign,” but when things like hyperactive beavers are his plan of attack, you can’t help but laugh.
Polished and playable from beginning to end, Royal Envoy: Campaign for the Crown proves you don’t need to reinvent a formula to create a solid gaming experience. Easily the best game in the Royal Envoy series.

Thank you Whiterabbit. The email link worked in Firefox today. Not fond of Waterfox as a browser (FF now has a 64 bit version), but good to know some things work better in it. Haven't seen any spam yet, but it's the weekend...

On my daily blog I have five download links every day for the giveaway and in weekends, starting yesterday, four links for the game. So for those you have no Facebook account, there is hope at the end of the tunnel.
My blog is in Dutch, but links are universal. Weggevertje is Dutch for giveaway.

Glad to see you were able to post your review and images. (Even able to get it posted to the top, so we don't have to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page for it. ^_^ )
I can deal with the whole required email thing; so I guess I'll be sticking around, still. ;)

So far your review has remained at the top of the comments. :)
One thing I wish could be improved (it has always been a problem, not just this weekend) - when you click on any links they open in the same tab/window, replacing the GGOTD page. It would be better if they opened in a new tab. I know in Wordpress there is a property of the link that can be set for that, not sure if you or the owners are given the same options in the software used to manage the site content. Thanks to Playrix and GGOTD for a good game, and thanks WR for all your efforts to provide a thorough review. I do wish we still had access to the old content you provided, as it was always very helpful.

Thanks, dear Rabbit. Glad you got the review sorted. It looks like moderation is occurring, too -- is that you, still? Do you think you could post the list of game sites from your usual review? Taking you for granted, I have never bookmarked them; which serves me right, I suppose, but if you're able to post the links, I think a lot of us would appreciate it.
Of course I won't be getting this one because of -- well, you know! -- but I'm not too disappointed because I feel Time Management games are too much like work to really enjoy. My daughter loves them, though.
Very sorry to hear there's trauma of any sort in your life. I hope it's not health-related. Large amounts of money are definitely tough stuff, but still ... Be well, Stephen. Have you had trouble with the weather and flooding where you are?
Happy Sunday from the bright, sunny, snow-covered Rockies, and thanks for the fish (but not so long quite yet).

If something can be intimately better WR, then this site is when your here! Thanks as always. Someone on the Facebook side has apparently reposted that review you found from Gamezebo, if you weren't aware, so they can see it too. The review folks, written by someone over there under the name John Anthony, is from July 2013, to give you an idea of the game age. Also would probably help you to know the Big Fish rating is slightly over 4 stars from 26 reviewers. Probably worth a try if you don't already have one in this series, since the reviewer believes it's mainly a repackage, or you really love the series, or your new to it and you don't mind this type of time management game. And maybe even if you do mind, as your opinion may have been formed on inferior copies from others. Thanks GGOTD and Playrix/Big Fish.

I am encouraged to see your review is staying posted at the top of the page today, and hope that continues for the future. I am also happy to see that the first part of the comment section has kind of a beige background, which makes it much easier on the eyes than the icy white background. Hopefully, the owners will be willing to look at adapting the rest of the comment section in the same way.
Playrix always has entertaining games, and this has some pretty good reviews from users.

WR--I would imagine so. It is difficult to be a reader of the comments also. Much prefer the way of having the most recent comments on the bottom instead of the top. It makes the best sense, because often some of the first posters will post issues/problems, and will provide workarounds, so that the viewers/posters that follow can read about the problems and solutions in an order that makes sense. I hope they reconsider this practice, as this is a discussion board, a community that helps each other out, and is not just a list of comments.

On the 3rd level a guy with a window popped up when I tried to fix a bridge and did not have enough wood to do so with a window saying "if you need more wood use the sawmill". It would not go away when left clicked as it indicated it should. The window covered other things in the game and I had to restart the level. I am running the game on a 48" 2160p aka 4K monitor, I also have a 1080p monitor to either side of it, so not a typical setup.

Ohhh really strange, the first time i reinstalled it wouldn't start, second time it did and i played 2 levels and exited it again, then when i tried to start it again it wouldn't, so reinstalled again and it started up, but as soon as you exit the game it wont restart, ive tested this 5 times and same every-time. So seeing as theres only one hr+ left to reinstall, thats what ive done and wont start it up again till i know im going to have the time to play it till the end. Shame about that but I love this game and all the previous versions ive had of it.

Hi Stephen,
Glad to see you and your review back. I will be continuing to check in on this site to see how things are progressing, but until I figure out the new downloading process will likely not be commenting much. I'm sure if my husband were still alive, he would figure things out for me, but on my own I am a computer dummy. I certainly echo all the comments that the changes are discouraging: the white background being harder to read or tiresome on the eyes, needing facebook or email to get game, springing these changes on us without forewarning. Many thanks to the game companies who have donated games over the years, and most especially to you, Stephen, for all your work reviewing and moderating. No thanks to Game Giveaway of the Day for current format.

I was playing and it crashed at about level 5 (Win 8, 64 bit). Don't know what happened. My computer froze for awhile, and escape would not work for 5 minutes. I lost my pointer. Ended up uninstalling. Seemed like a good game for those who like that genre.

What's up with this game?
As others have mentioned the game starts fine first time - automatic after install. Refuses to restart!
Have uninstalled and reinstalled, fresh download etc, all to no avail. If I close it or turn off my computer, it's dead in the water!
I don't have time to finish this adventure today, Royal Envoy is one of my favorites I was really looking forward to having this on my system A really enjoyable game when it works
Still Don't like the layout, but I'm glad to see Stephen and his review back, the only thing that really makes this site different. If Stephen Leaves I'll join the train and exit this station!

White Rabbit, thanks for noticing my problem but hop back to your own work. Not the end of the world if one little game fails to co-operate. I thibk likely an earlier trial run failed to remove the log files and I'm stuck in a time loop with this one.
More cleaning than I have time for at the moment.
Not on your schedule, but still have work to do.
So thanks and Glad to see another friend of Jefferson, though I'm a bigger fan of Bowie than Grace and co.
Thanks Again

I commented several hours ago, and apparently did not make it through moderation, though there were no naughty words, just criticism, and also replied to WR's review. From this I deduce there is non-WR moderation occurring, or else the comment form is unreliable. If this gets posted, I'll try again. I hope you can see all the comments, WR. All the best.

Thanks, Whiterabbit -- don't worry about me. One comment was a reply to your review, which ought to have showed up somewhere soon after Mistella's; one was a main thread comment about 6 hours ago. I think they just got eaten. I'll try to repost when I get a minute to reconstruct today's rant. ;)
Since what we see is different than what you see as moderator, info note: 1) yesterday's comments have "see more comments" link at the bottom; all today's comments appear to be as visible on the first page as they've ever been, and there is no link at the bottom, so maybe it's an archive thing. 2) there are TWO comment forms that seem to be separate -- above your review, there are a couple of comments by one person and a comment form. These appeared in the middle of the day (I noticed them about 6 hours ago). Then there is the "add a comment" button at the bottom of the page, which is how I posted earlier (I just hit "reply" for this one).
I hope you finish the awful report, and come up roses!

I am one of those who really hates the new look of this site. All the white is really disturbing and makes it look like it was put up by a child with no computer experience. I also hate that we don't have an option to view the comments from old to new. I don't like having to scroll down and spend a lot of time trying to find older comments that new posts are talking about.
Although I have a facebook account, it's only to keep in touch with my daughter. I refuse to post a link to a site, as was requested yesterday to get that game. Luckily I didn't want that game anyway.
I'm sorry to have to say these things because I've been using GOTD and GGOTD for several years, and have always loved this site and especially seeing White Rabbit's reviews. I appreciate the software I've been able to try. Some I've used free since it's a program I rarely use; others I've purchased partly just to support the developer, even though my income is limited. Some programs I've purchased I have used a lot and was glad to find them here. Otherwise I might never have known about them.
I'm not sure if I will continue coming to this site, since there is rarely anything I'm interested in except for match 3 games. If the site improves, I might still visit it. But I hate having this garbage crammed down our throats in spite of all the complaints.

One simple request for the new Game.Giveawayoftheday page: Please put "Genre:" in the upper right corner summary, maybe just above "System Requirements:". That would be VERY useful, as many of us do not play certain genre's, and it's a pain to read long descriptions just to try to determine the genre. Thanks for a great website!

Good morning! (Well, it's still morning where I am.)
It looks like a couple of things have changed this morning. The "sort by" button, which did not work, is gone, and although the general comments are still newest on top (dumb), Whiterabbit has managed to get his review post attached up where it belongs. But, the site design is still a dog's breakfast, even if one were using a mobile device, which, as Ben so sharply pointed out, we are not.
GGotD has opted to join the ranks of sites that believe the business of the web is conducted on smartphones, and that Facebook is as universal as gravity. (Funny side note -- as ubiquitous as GGotD believes Facebook to be, it still gets tagged by the site spellcheck!) I suppose I am expected to be downloading GG offerings onto my smartphone or tablet -- oh, wait. Not functional.
There are already plenty of sites I don't read, use, or shop at because they are poorly designed and/or require a Facebook connection to participate as the default. Poor web design does not fill one with confidence about the use/misuse of personal information, and of course, Facebook is a very exploitative environment generally.
I'll keep checking in, to see if anything changes for the better. It would be really interesting to know how the download rate has changed -- maybe there are enough folks willing to put up with this crap to keep the thing ticking along. They will probably lose the community of knowledgeable commenters, though. The regulars have been most irate.
I am not ungrateful for the many lovely games I've played from GGotD over the years. I do not get how these changes benefit the business plan of Giveaway of the Day at all. I really think they're shooting themselves in the foot. But what do I know? Plenty of people use MyPlayCity, at least for awhile, and look what they're like.

And now as I refresh, there are two separate comment sections, the one we're in and one above it with a couple of comments (above WR's review) that has the sort button back again, this time apparently working, but only for that section. Seriously.

Take the regular precautions and keep track of who gets what , then you know where the "spam" comes from although sometimes useful or at least amusing , hope this helps as we have lost many who where most helpful to me in the past.

Hi WhiteRabbit/ Stephen,
My comments from yesterday were also deleted. I may come back just to see how you are doing, but I will not be using the site anymore unless it is fixed. In my eyes it is now broken. Not to mention that it breaks my eyeballs. I stopped using the app site for the same reason. Very sad, as this used to be a great site and I have enjoyed it from it's earliest days. Hope to run into you some other place on the internet with a friendlier attitude towards it's users. I doubt if it will happen, but should the owners get their collective heads out of their nether regions I will be back. If you should happen to find another home online somewhere please contact me and let me know (hoping as moderator you can see my email addy) I am very glad I got to know you (will miss you bunches!) and the other folks who post here and the ones who used to post on the app page and left due to that change.
Signing off, a very disappointed and sad....

While yesterdays arrival was a little shocking to say the least, I did not try the game because I no longer download match 3's. I like them, but I just don't.
Today's download arrived without a hitch. I used the email link with my hotmail address that I set up specifically for questionable spam sites. clicked the link in firefox and it opened the download box. It was slow to pop open, but that may be my computer or may be why some think the link may not work.
I am also happy to report I did not have to pause my AVG while installing. This has been something I had to do for the past few months for GGOTD downloads. I would run the .exe, the activation screen would open, then nothing... No error, or any hint what may be the problem. Today was just click and go.
Also, this Playtrix game made its own short cut on my desktop. Don't remember if GGOTD Playtrix games usually do this or not. Was nice not to have to search out my folder and make my own.

Hi everybody.
If you want another background, you can change it in your browser.
Example with MSIE11, tools, internet options, general tab:
1) Click accessibility button, tick/select ignore colours specified on webpages, click ok
2) Click colours button, untick/deselect use windows colours, select your preferred colours for text and background, click ok, click ok.
3) The previous settings will be applied to every webpages.
If you want them applied only for game/giveawayoftheday.com, you should only tick use windows colours when you come here and you should only untick use windows colours after you leave this website.
Hope this helps!

Sadly, I won't be enjoying this game today. I'm running Windows 10. I've downloaded / installed this program three times. First time, I didn't get the FB / email prompt - nice - downloaded and installed. I had the program open when I clicked finish. Played it for a bit, then closed it. I was thinking it was going to be a fun program. When I tried to open it again, I got the message "Unfortunately this program has stopped working" with the close button beneath it. I uninstalled and downloaded again. This time I did get the FB / email window. I was also using IE instead of FF. Installed - same problem (only this time I had unchecked the run program before hitting finish). I wasn't sure if the program was successfully activating since I never saw the successfully activated tab in my FF or the little box that pops up on the desktop. Decided to give it one more try. Uninstalled, cleared my cache with CCleaner and downloaded again . This time I made sure I saw the little successfully activated box on my desktop. I had also suspended my security suite (I really do trust GGOTD to have secure downloads). Same outcome as the other two so I uninstalled. I was successfully able to download yesterday's game with no problems at all - other than having to go for an email link and I've never had a problem with Playrix downloading and installing correctly before.

I managed to download without having to use the e-mail link like I had to yesterday and it was much better. This game is very challenging to play and if you like time management games its great from the story line graphics and sounds and music and it plays on windows 10. Thank you.

Hey, Whiterabbit!!!
Good to know you're still around here. Your service to the community is greatly appreciated! I agree with you and everybody who dislikes the changes to the website. I'll actually scroll to the bottom of the page to see your review, esp. because the new style "brief info" doesn't even tell us what type of game it is.
For those who are worried about spam, if 10 minute email accounts don't work for download, get a permanent one with false info (or no personal info at all) to use it for downloads, registration etc. (remember to uncheck any boxes, like here). If it becomes too full of spam, you can just abandon it and get a new one.
Oh, the new website won't let me post from FF. Let's try IE.

Why the sudden issue with the site, it's been like this for several months, unless I'm missing something. I liked the old format and don't know why it was changed, it was fine like it was. I also don't like the fact that you have to send the link to your Facebook page. I guess the only thing to do is delete it after you finish your game download.
Incidentally, I'll pass on todays game as I did yesterdays. However thank you GGOTD!

Having downloaded yesterday's via email link, today's download went straight to the download link without asking for the email again. It's good that we don't have to keep repeating that once we've "registered". The game loads easy enough on my Win 10 HP Core I-3 desktop, it runs very smoothly. Graphics again are top shelf, and the play is enjoyable, even if I do get enough TM in my daily life. Thanks for another great offering. BTW, I think it's time to put another Tower Defense game online. The last one (Goblin Defender, I think it was) was lost when my last machine crashed and I had to start over.

It's been a mostly interesting and enjoyable seven years. Goodbye all, and fair well.
As Stephen wrote, " I don't think many community members actually scroll through to read all the comments made..." so this comment will probably won't be read by anyone if it even makes it past the "spam filter" or the Nazi censors.
Stephen: Censoring comments does not make problems go away. Please don't keep telling people about how there's never been viruses in software downloaded from this site. It is very rare, but despite your cognitive dissonance based beliefs, it has happened. Nothing done by mere mortals is perfect, and I sincerely hope you realize that someday.

After installing, uninstalling, re-downloading, re-installing I got it to work. But the desktop icon doesn't work - I have to go through the start menu and run it as administrator. Very odd, but at least I can play the game. And it's a very fun one.
My comment on the new GGOTD site design: I don't like it - the old one was good and did not need "improvement". And I don't like the Facebook/email choice for the download link.
Having said that, I'll mention that the GOTD site has had the new format for a while now, and having downloaded a couple of sw using the email link, I have had no increase in spam, at least nothing that made it through Gmail's spam filters...
So, thank you GGOTD for the good game, and thanks Whiterabbit for all your work. Good luck today.

Fr those wanting the Black layout, there is a temporary work around until the site owners decide to go back in black.
For Chrome users

example http://my.jetscreenshot.com/3161/20160207-djkf-226kb
for fire/waterfox

example

the chrome version works with a black.white icon in your adress bar, the fox version is a righclick option
hope this helps many

Whiterabbit, I am HUGELY relieved to see you back at the helm with the reviews and comments! And, at least for now, they are appearing at the top of the comments where they belong.
Since the subject matter has become the new format, rather than the game, I'll leave you a couple of thoughts for format...
1) Just a slightly off-white background appears to be what everyone wants to make the site more eye-friendly. That should not be impossible.
2) If the background color is not changeable, perhaps using a heavier font, perhaps even to BOLD? And to distinguish the moderator comments, currently in bold, perhaps you could use a larger font?
3) Somewhere in the headings, I would like to see a little more information posted such as "download size", "game type", "last time offered", "publisher's comments", etc. You might look at the format for any individual software provided on Download.com for some of the publisher's comments. Note that they still include "editor's comments" as well, along the same lines as Whiterabbit's reviews.
4) And the real issue, as I see it, is not the new layout, but the fact that it IS new. People get comfortable with what they are used to. They don't like to have change thrust upon them without having their opinions heard. And they are going through the process of "expressing their opinions" now. Most will accept that this is how it is, and get past it. Some will be indignant and refuse to revisit the site. That's their loss. If this had been the format from the beginning, it would never have been an issue.
As for the game itself, although I'm not a huge of these build-a-road TM type games, anything from Playrix has always been well written, superbly crafted artwork, and easily played by all. As such, I am downloading and adding it to my collection and am sure to not be disappointed.
Once again, I want to personally thank WR for your dedication and devotion. As long as you are part of this site, I will remain a loyal benefactor of your generosity. Thank you.
p.s. Whiterabbit, if there's any way I can talk the owners of this site into providing you with a stipend for all you do, I'll be happy to do so.

I've been a loyal user of GGOTD ever since it debut, but this new format is a bit much. I do have a Facebook page and don't mind sharing it, but gone are image previews when the link is shared. It's just a generic link. Thankfully I can create my own image preview based off of WhiteRabbits images posted when making a post to my friends to share the game.

Love all the Royal Envoy games and have purchased them all except for this one. I had thought it was similar to another Royal Envoy game so I never purchased it. I see that it is different so I will download this and try on my W7 system. Playrix games are almost always well done and a joy to play.
Do I like the changes to this site? No, but people don't like change when things are running smoothly and it takes a while for them to get used to it. Put a new chair in your living room and 5 days later and you feel like it's been there for years.
I rarely go to Facebook so I gave my email address. I see nothing wrong with that and it remembers it for me so I don't have to type it again. It's similar to people being afraid to give their names on the internet but they forget that they are listed in their local phone books. Same thing.

Nice to see you again, WhiteRabbit! First comment at top of the page, no facebook log on or e-mail link..almost back to my collection of #1 sites. Sadly today's game is not my cup of tea and off-white is really really a better color for a site. Oh well, I can't have it all.
Have a nice day and see you next week. With sunglasses on..in February...

While I understand not wanting to post to Facebook or even use Facebook at all, I do not understand why so many fear giving the GAOTD team your email address for a download link. When you post your complaint about it, you must give them an email address. What is the difference? If there is one, I would love to know.
I still however, do not like the format of the new site. I can not read too much of it, it is too hard on the eyes.

PS: Please if you can make the background a bit darker, it would be so much more comfortable on the eyes to read.
Thank you.

I'm so very sorry that you've had traumatic days and I do hope things will smooth out really soon.
I found a simple way to get around posting to everyone on FB, if you have a FB account, and you don't want to go thru the hassle of setting up yet another email account, just change the FB settings to "Custom" and then "Only me". That way, it will only go your timeline and not "out there". (Of course, when you want to post other things to "Friends", etc, remember to change back the settings.)

Well, the first thing I wanted to say was, I'm glad to see Whiterabbit is going to stay, for now, and continue to give us great reviews and game options.
Second, if the giveaway team doesn't see it clear to change the background coloring for our benefit, maybe they will do it for Whiterabbit! It seems totally ignorant to not listen to someone that donates so much of their time to help improve the website, and ignore his needs as far as hurting his eyes with this horrid format!
I will say that I have gotten a couple of programs from the regular giveaway site, and haven't noticed any unusual SPAM since doing so, as I only give my email, never using Farcebook (misspelling intentional).
That said, I still despise the format change, and will spend as little time as possible on here.
Whiterabbit, I think from what I see, that you have figured out how to pin your post to the top of the list, that is the one saving grace that will keep me coming back for games I like.
One question. Yesterday's game download was terribly slow. I never noticed this before, but the GCD package was 345 MB! The game was less than 3 MB! I would hat to be someone that didn't have a cable ISP, and tried to download that game! It took over 15 minutes to download! If they are going to continue to bloat the download with such a large GCD, I may have to stop coming here altogether.

I purchased the classic edition of this game a couple of years ago and it's one of my favorites. I have all of the Royal Envoy series and hope the was hoping they would produce Envoy 4, 5, etc. If you download this, try to complete each segment with three stars. That's the real challenge.

Same problem as yesterday. Shared link through FB,but game doesn't download...just takes me back to the gamepage. Grrrr...hate the changes already.

Like others I find the background of the page far too white, it gives a headache reading through the comments.
The game downloaded and installed fine, however after playing it for a while and then trying to restart it gives an error message (The program has stopped working) and doesn't start anymore.
Uninstalled and installed the game again gives the same problem. I can play just after the installation but restarting gives the error message.
My pc runs on Windows7 prof, 64bit

I am having the same problem. I tried uninstalling / reinstalling twice. I tried using Internet Explorer to try to download (FireFox is my primary browser). The first time I downloaded through FireFox, I never received the option to go through Facebook (I refuse to let Facebook follow my life any more than it does now), downloaded the program, installed and played. That was that - after closing and trying to play again, got the same error message. Never saw the successfully activated notification..... So I tried again with Internet Explorer. This time I got the option to get email link, which I did. Downloaded - installed - no notification - clicked on shortcut (I didn't say run this time after it was done installing) and got the same error message again. Going to uninstall. It's too bad - this seemed like a fun game!
As an aside, I downloaded the GOTD program today also with no problems. I do not like this new format either, but it is something I suppose I will get used to. Wish I didn't have to keep ducking the FB link every time I want to download something. Makes it much more inconvenient to have to go to email to get download link.

I doubt anything will change with this or any other comment as we seem to have entered an age of "FU, you're going to like OUR way of interacting with a computer or you can drop dead after we eviscerate you on a personal level to lay the blame on you." (thank you, Steve Jobs) , but I will say that the new format has curbed my "download and try" actions. If a software came up that was even vaguely helpful I would give it a whirl, going so far as to having a few copies of similar software installed for comparison. Some I have bought from devs, most offerings on the main site are (frankly) trash. However, I did make an effort to either comment or support comments I agreed with on the site as feedback to the devs after trying some truly horrendous or useless software. Now I don't bother. I AM on social media and since I'm not getting paid, I have no intention of being free advertisement for any company. I'm also not interested in having my e-mail harvested for any reason, even the junk one. It's too much work for (mostly) useless software.
What I do now is check the RSS feed to see if it is something I may be interested in and after some research elsewhere, I may go through the effort of downloading and installing. The reality is, I haven't downloaded a GOTD offering in months now and I'm actually happier for it. Less work, less time wasted. No more reading through comments or participation. Where I used to click on the iPhone app links to give the GOTD credit for informing me of the free offerings, I now copy/paste the app name in iTunes to get the offer and to bypass the onerous GOTD hoops.
The GGOTD section is the ONLY one left that I was still participating in to some degree. That is probably going to end very quickly. Whereas before I would have downloaded and tried yesterday's offering, now I didn't bother. I didn't always get to play the game in time to write a comment, but it did expose me to some new and interesting developers whose other games I've purchased.
Ben said it best yesterday about this new design and I wholeheartedly agree with him. It's bad enough to have your eyes assaulted for the benefit of people using simplistic devices that will never run these programs or anything more complicated that their social media apps but to have the extra hoops to jump through to get it is too much.
Yes, I will likely use my junk e-mail to download games with the new format, but they will only be those I am 100% interested in that have good reviews elsewhere and are unavailable through other means. I will no longer read through the comments on this site or offer my thoughts on a game, including today's (which I own) because my eyeballs are hurting just writing this little bit.
White Rabbit, thanks for all the great comments and your hard work. Speaking for myself, don't continue doing something that isn't pleasant for you on our account. I have enjoyed your comments and all of your hard work, but I heartily encourage you to stop moderating if you wish. You don't owe anyone in this community anything, even your presence. In fact, it's the exact opposite. This was a VERY nice community to participate in because of you and I will miss it. Thank you and good luck in all you do.

Want the game but don't want it in your Facebook feed? Here's how:
1) Click the download link
2) Click the Share & Download button
3) When the "Post to Facebook" window appears, click the globe to the left of the Share button in the bottom right and choose "Custom" from the pop-up menu
4) In the "Custom Privacy" window under the "Share this with" heading, set "These people or lists" to "Only me"
5) Click the "Save Changes" button, then the Share button to share to Facebook
This doesn't actually prevent the site from posting to your Facebook feed, but only you can see the post and it's easily deleted once it appears in your feed.

Facebook and email constraint still on here. No way I subscribe to facebook. No way I disclose my email adres. So goodbye GGOTD and thank you for the fish. Pity.
But above all: thank's a lot to Whiterabbit for his hard and extremely appreciated work over the last years!
