hoo boy! up to something like level 26 now, including playing two difficult levels at least 10 times to get my gold stars. missed a couple days of playing this week because of *work* >:-( played late into the night yesterday and then dreamed about building chalets all night. must ... step ... away ... from ... royal ... envoy ... thanks again for offering this. :D

Great game, I finished it with all gold star (normal+expert mode). Everything is good, the graphics, the challenge, the gameplay. What I really enjoy are the levels where you have a special task to do like the balloon level or the circus one. The gold star can be quite challenging for some levels especially in expert mode. The level design is very good and you are not bored when doing a level.
I really recommend this game to anyone who likes the genre.

Game glitches at level 29. Can not get past the 4 flowers. It does not recognize that you have built them. When you get the first 3 star villa it tells you there are 3 to go. Not with the flowers.

Thanks for the quick response to my comment on #67. Unfortunately you've misunderstood me as there was nothing wrong with the download from the website or the installation. However, when the game itself tries to load, or run, to play the game on the computer, the green line gets to about 80% and then suddenly the whole game just disappears as if I never even started the program. Hopefully I will still find the answer somewhere and can play the game. If not, I will just have to uninstall it. I've never had any problems with Playrix before.

There were over 12 thousand downloads of ths game over the 24 hour period of the giveaway. That's over 8 copies every minute. ;-)

Top game. Love the graphics. Calming storyline. All round enjoyable game. Worth every Megabite.

Installed it twice now but cannot use it. It loads ... and loads ... and loads ... and then when it's 80% of the way, whamo, it just bombs out. Not really impressed.

The fault isn't with the giveaway side. Despite the false start yesterday there have been over twelve thousand downloads of this game and no one has reported a problem such as yours.

It sounds like there's a problem with your provider or your connection. Please check your signal strength to your connection. This was quite a large download. Try deleting your internet cache. Unfortunately its too late to get this giveaway now. hopefully it will be available in the future.

p.s.
Get one of those download managers that allows you to restart a download from the point it disconnected instead of having to restart from the beginning. firefox allows you to do that. If you are using I.E. I would suggest tryig Firefox as you would definitely have been able to continue on from the pont it 'bombed'

Installed and played the first levels without an issue on my laptop (Win7 64 Premium SP1, 4 GB RAM, ATI HD 5470 512 MB). Royal Envoy is a nice game. I previously got Fishdom - Frosty Splash and FarmScapes from here. Playrix delivers good games, that's for sure. Thank you GGAOTD, Playrix and Whiterabbit!

Really hoping to try this game, but I have tried all solutions to black screen problem, my laptop meets all specifications, is up to date, and only four months old, but game will not play :( I have never had a game from GGOTD not work properly so I'm not sure of the problem. Wish I could get it to work.

Don't delete the game yet. I suggest you post a request for help in the game discussion forums. It's late in the day now to hope for help from the community. I've exhausted any suggestions at the moment. Hopefully a solution will be found by one of the more technically oriented community members that visit the forums. :)

Apparently, I am an idiot. I put in flower not flowerbed! At least I didn't restart the level yet. Sooooooo, great game!

I am on level 29, but I can't get beyond that because the game won't acknowledge that I have 4 flowerbeds. I'll try restarting this level and hope for the best.

Playrix puts out one great game after another and this is no exception. At first blush it seems like an ordinary simple game, but it soon becomes a game you hate to put aside even for a short while. This is one fun game. Well done Playrix!

I wanted to download the game for April 1 but whin I went to download it , it told me that the compressed file was corrupt.

Did you read my review @ comment number 1? There is a possible solution posted there. That is try using a different file archiver.

The game is available for an extra hour becasue it started late yesterday

I am another one who is getting the infamous black screen when I try to play it. I have tried installing it several times, and tried using different settings, but all to no avail. There is obvious a flaw in this program and that is why so many are experiencing the same problem. Hopefully Playrex will fix this flaw before the software is offered again. And how many people would be ticked if they bought this software and encountered this proble. I would like to run the program but can not get it to work. So the biggest thumbs down of any program I have downloaded ever.

i never expected to like this type of game. was going to give it a miss, but when i saw it was by playrix, i decided to try it out. guess what? *ADDICTED!*

the first time i tried to install it, i got the message someone else mentioned about some process already being in use. quitting out of the other active applications (synctoy and chrome) did the trick, so i didn't have to reboot. runs fine on my little acer netbook.

For those who tried all suggestions for fixing blank / black screen and still have it:

If you have 'Switchable Graphics' make sure your 'switchable graphics method' is not based on application needs. Select your graphic card manually or make it based on power source and don't change your power source while playing.(at least this is how i solved my black screen problem win7x64)

D3D is a Direct X process. go to Microsofts website and download the correct version for your operating system.

i.e.

XP - DX9.0c
Vista - DX 10
Win 7 - DX11

Check Tiny arls suggestion below. She had a similar problem and solved it.

The problem isn't a Giveaway problem but one either from your provider or from your own computer. Every week there are literally thousands of games downloaded none with this problem. Doesn't that tell you it's got to be a problem from your end?

Please post the problem in the Game discussion forums. someone may be able to help give advic. It sounds to me like you have a conflict with other programs running in the background.

Please read my problems section in my comment at comment #1. I'll try to give more though to the problem and will post any more suggestions over in the game dscussion forums for you once you've posted the problem. Thank you. sorry you are haveing problems. I'm not a big fan of these city-building games but for what it is, this game is VERY well done! Great in-game tutorials with informative pop-up notes, excellent cut scenes, and appropriate durations for the time challenge timers.

I'd enjoy it more if there were breaks between islands with some mini-challenges (and perhaps there are since I'm only half way through the second island) but if this is your type of game then it's gonna be a keeper.

I agree about the mini breaks. Some mini games would enhance this game and make it more palatable for those who aren't as into the main game concept.

as per comment 17, I run Win 7 dual monitors at high resolution.

As with this one other Playrix games give no cursor when first started. By carefully moving the mouse, you will see the Start button flash after one has signed on, etc. Then carefully move straight down until you see Options flash. When you do, click. Then you will see the options screen. Again maneuver the mouse until you see the "Custom Cursor" words brighten and then click. This will check the custom cursor box and the game will then work normally.

This is something that Playrix needs to correct as many people run dual monitors with higher and higher resolutions.

Installed fine on W7 32bit with no problem. Thank you GOTD and Playrix for another great game.

Well, I had no problems downloading, but I can't play it. The mouse won't show and all I can do is get to "enter name" and no farther. Can't select to run in windowed mode or exit - have to use task to end process.

It's a shame - it looked like a good game.

There has to be a common factor between yours and the other users who are having the same problem. Maybe try updating your graphics drivers and ensure you have the latest version of Direct X for your operating system. Try right clicking on the games executable and selecting properties, then compatibility. try disabling the graphic options.

Finished my second island and all is well. Sawmills are ripping and gold stars are flying. Running on Windows 7 64bit with no problem. Great game...will comment later if I have any suggestions. Thank you. (BTW I'm 65 years young and still have good reflexes! lol)

Please read previous comments. I think someone else had the same problem. Can you get into the main menu with the mouse working> If so try running the game in a window. You could then increase the size of the window by reducing the monitors resolution. The smaller the resolution the larger the window. I know its a pain to change, but only a minor one, especially if you have Win 7

Check the size of the downlod. It should be 115Mb in size. It could be that the file is corrupted. Check my problems section in my review @ comment #1. Try using a different file archiver. I've had similar problems and found using a different archiver fixed the problem.

If that oesn't work clear out your internet cache then redownload the game.

Please let m know if any of the suggestions made fixed the problem. (I suggest trying 7-Zip)

@ post 29 Thanks for the tip. I managed to get into settings, and switch out of full screen mode. Then I tried the "custom" cursor option ! The "custom" cursor works fine in full screen mode.

Just want to let you know that the game description at the top of the page mentions the Collectors Edition, which was one of the reasons I brought the topic up. Don't know if you have the power to correct that or not.

Okay, though I wasn't to know how old your computer was. We've had users with 10 year old computer complaining that a game wouldn't work, then you discover they haven't bothered to read the suggested requirements and have systems that are totally unsuited to the game.

See if there are any programs running in the background that may be causing the problem. Sometimes there can be incompatibility issues. The fact that several users have complained of this problem could suggest somethiing like that. You'd have to turn each background program off one at a time until you found the culprit. Game Booster is a useful program that will turn off all unecessary windows programs, plus you can configure it to turn off non Windows programs as well. The beauty of the program apart from it being free is that once it' been configures it's just a one button process to turn it to Game mode, then another button press to turn on all of the processes etc back.

Great game! I like that it is not stressful as you try to reach the time goals. Good graphics very enjoyable.

reminds me very much on "Be A King" that was given away here before (ver.2: Jan 01 12, Nov 22 09) - same aim, same objectives, same exercises, but with a different story and slightly better graphics
nice one for the first two levels, lets see how it develops when playing more ... longer review then in a week when I'm finished ;-)

Did you check to make sure your computer supports the game? Also have you updated your drivers recently?

The Game works with Wine on Linux without problems.
(The wrapper from giveawayoftheday needs native mfc42.dll)

Is there any particular windows service that needs to be running for the installer to be able to connect?

Make sure (if you are using Firefox) that I.E. is online. This is a common problem. Also check the problems section at the end of my review. :) Hope it helps.

Not to worry Arthur. To be honest, there have been thousands of downloads of this game today. That alone attests to the popularity of this game. The thumbs up/down is not a very accurate measure of the game as there are many who will select before they have even played the game.

OK, while checking out the Playrix website, I just realized that I own 5 more of their games instead of just one, so that says I really like the quality of their games. :)

This is definitely one of the better time management games. The graphics are amazing, especially the people. The voice acting was exceptionally well-suited to the people speaking, which is a welcome change from many games. I made it through level 9 fairly quickly with gold on all levels, though I did have to restart the 2nd pirate level a couple of times before I got gold. I kept missing it by a second or two each time. :( I also really like how all the people come out of the buildings to celebrate after finishing each level. I own another game from Playrix, and I will definitely be checking out their other games. I give the game an A+. Thanks so much for sharing. BTW, I didn't have any trouble installing or playing the game on my Windows 7 64 machine, nor did I have a problem visiting the publisher's website.

@ post 17....I had an issue like that and changing the game to 'windowed mode' fixed the problem (but took away some enjoyment.

To get to the option for windowed mode while in the game without a mouse, I had to enable the ctrl button to show where my mouse pointer is and kept pressing it till I was ontop of the windowed mode button.
