Rose Riddle 2: Werewolf Shadow

In Brief
Rose Riddle 2: Werewolf Shadow is a well constructed (both graphically and game play wise) resource time management game with three modes of play, including an untimed mode. The game has never been given away via the game giveawayoftheday site before. :) There are sixty levels to work through, earn achievements and keep a diary of your progress. :) I don't particularly enjoy most TM games, but because there is an untimed mode, I've enjoyed the short time I've played this so far and would recommend it to everyone.

The Game
It is that time of the year when the people of Fairy Kingdom are preparing to celebrate the Kings birthday! But this year, something dark is cooking behind the scenes when a series of crimes are committed all over the city. It is once again, time for Rose Riddle to flex her investigative muscles and restore peace to the Fairy Kingdom.

After the commercially and critically successful Rose Riddle: The Fairy Tale Detective, Yustas Games steps it up for this new sequel. While the first game mainly explored Rose Riddle’s background and her ambitions, Werewolf Shadow sees Rose gets down to business. Unlike the majority of resource-management games, Rose Riddle 2 is heavy on the story. This works to the game’s advantage since the storyline here is extremely engaging, with just the right amount of humour, mystery, and intrigue. The game features famous fairy tale characters ranging from the Red Riding Hood to Pinocchio and more, each character is seamlessly tied into the storyline and is incredibly fun to interact with.

Rose Riddle 2: Werewolf Shadow is probably the most entertaining resource-management game I have played in some time, and a huge part of that has to do with its imaginative gameplay. All the tasks offered in Rose Riddle 2 are highly creative and make sense in the context of the storyline and their variety is simply insane. Speaking of variety, I have to give a huge props to the team that designed the locations. Each location is unique and complex, there is not a single one that is like the other. Apart from picking up and using resources, building stations, and fighting off enemies, Rose Riddle 2 also includes some useful power-ups. Unlike with most games of its kinds, the power-ups in this game need to be traded using the Soda resource, which adds an interesting dynamic as well as another layer of challenge to the game.

While Rose Riddle 2: Werewolf Shadow is not a particularly strategic game, planning ahead is certainly a key in achieve the three stars status in the more advanced levels. For those who do not enjoy the pressure of the time, an untimed mode is also offered. On the flip side, an expert mode is also available for those who seek challenge. Rose Riddle 2: Werewolf Shadow comes with three types of mini-games levels alongside its main levels; matching, driving navigation, and Whack-A-Mole. This brings the total number of levels to 62 levels, in which 45 are the main story-driven levels.

Presentation wise, Rose Riddle 2: Werewolf Shadow is also spot-on. The colourful graphics and the lively animations complement the light-heated mood of the game well, and the melodic background music adds to the entertainment. This is the the of game that can be enjoyed by all members of the family and the werewolf mystery aspect makes it perfect for the Halloween season!

Whiterabbit-uk, you are great.

I also don't care for Time-management games.

BUT, your sentence: "I don't particularly enjoy most TM games, but because there is an untimed mode, I've enjoyed the short time I've played this so far" caught my eye, so I am downloading this game to give it a try.

Game developers, take note: Always offer a relaxed mode whenever you can!

Happy Easter everyone.

Whiterabbit-uk, once again we have a Toomky game that will not run on WinXP - it installs fine but trying to run the game produces a "not a valid Win32 application" error, which from my research indicates that the compiler used to make the game files is a later version than WinXP can handle (eg. NET framework, or Visual Studio, etc.), and must be different to the compiler used to make the setup files. Installing the game directly from Toomky produces the same error.

Is there any way this can be drawn to their attention and fixed, especially for future games. After all, these are the types of games that are perfect for WinXP!

Whiterabbit-uk, P.S. further to my last comment, I was able to get the game to run on XP using "the trick", but got some screen corruption. And got the same corruption installing the game from Toomky and Big Fish, so I installed it on my wife's XP and ditto! Yet it works fine on my Win10 laptop. Very curious, seeing these older games usually work fine on XP and sometimes require compatibility settings changes on more modern OS's - the boot's on the other foot for a change...!

I usually hate resource-management games, but this was cute and fun. Thanks, Whiterabbit, for letting us know that this one is a bit different than the usual run of these games.
