Had to disable Avast to get it to install. Avast blocked the install and flagged the setup.exe as containing a PUP.

Favorite Falco game yet. It is getting hard to find a good platformer. ADWS is for the controls, but the arrow keys work too, Space key to jump and J to fire the weapon. Beware of land mines.

Introduction:

The plot of the game tells us the story of a retired space paratrooper who has abducted a spouse. Armed with a rifle, he goes in search of her. Rifle MarksMan is a 2D platformer with a side view, the task is to go through a maze looking for multi-colored keys to the door for further progress through the level. On the way to the cherished goal of the hero awaits many tasks, enemies and of course unfriendly bosses.

The Game:

Menus are selected using the up and down arrows then enter. There's a full menu, with the usual options/settings menu i.e. music and sound sliders and a fullscreen/windowed toggle, as well as a toggle for changing between Russian and English. You'll also find a control option that lists the key bindings i.e.

Movement = WASD or arrow keys
Jump = Space bar or Z
Fire weapon = J or X
Wear Glasses = K or C

These key bindings cater for both left and right handed players, for example, i'm left -handed and found the movement keys ↑,↓,← & → plus the action keys ZXC were comfortable to use. Thr glasses are used to see invisible platforms that are hidden around the maze levels. Your wepon holds 6 rounds and has to reload, so take care when being approaced by multiple enemeies that you aren't almost out of ammo. there is no relad button, the weapons automatically reload whennthey ar eempty. I much prefer to be able to reload wheever ther eis a lul in fighting to ensure I hvave a full magazine. The top left indcaror shows how many lives you have left and immediately below tah the number of rounds left in your weapon. There are caches of grenades around. when you pick these up, it will show you how many you have via an indicator that appears in the right top corner of the game window. The game is basically a retro pixel puzzle maze like platformer. To get to the end of a level of which there are 12 in total you have to avoid being killed by the various inhabitants of the maze. When you walk under the ones that are crawling on the ceiling, as you pass they drop to the ground and transform into mines. The aim is to eascape each maze. There are a few locked doors in each maze. You have to find the keys to unlock these before you can progress. Make sure you regularily check for hidden platforms with your glasses, otherwise you’ll find yourself starting from the beginning again. Also, avoid falling into the spiked pits, which kill you instantly. There is an end of level boss on each level that is much harder to kill than the usual inhabitant of the maze.

Conclusion:

Overal I found Rifle Marksman a reasonable platformer. Don’t expect too much as this is one of those cheap £0.79 games that Steam are selling these days. As a freebie it’s a worthwhile download, especially if you like platform games.
