Rescue Team 6
About a week ago, I finally completed this game. If you are like me and insist on earning the three stars before you allow yourself to progress any further, you'll find this version the most challenging in the series. Not saying that's a bad thing, as I like many others, do enjoy a challenge.
Wise concept awarding stars since it allows lesser diehards who don't pursue a high level goal of obtaining the vaulted three stars, to still progress regardless, while giving those who desire the challenge the means to achieve it.

delenn13, nice catch, thanks for sharing. I've had Kabounce on my wishlist for several months. Looking forward to playing it!
As for today's game, I had a lot of fun playing Rescue Team 5 a few years (?) ago. It must have been a good one for me to remember it with all that's happened between then and now.

Hey, this is the one that adds rescue dogs! They can search ruins and rescue drowning people for you -- who's a good doggo??

Webroot tested it and said it DID contain a trojan. So, beware of this download! Too bad, too. I really like this type of game. Would have been fun.
Hey guys! Charge a little for the game for God's sake and stop with the lying to us.

John, It's a false positive. It's detecting the Themida wrapper, which would show as a Trojan.
As already mentioned the giveaway team have given away around two thousand games over the last 12 years and have never given away a game infected with any virus or trojan. They have a very good reputation and wish to keep that reputation. Allowing a game to be downloaded with malware would destroy that. The giveaway team use more than one of the top rated anti malware suites to make sure their downloads are safe. Ever since Themida was introduced as the wrapper, some anti malware suites do label giveaways as malware, but they are false positives. It can be used to hide malware by unscrupulous people, but the giveaway team are a business and would not do that. Also; again, as mentioned previously. If there was an issue we would see many more community members reporting it. There aren't any. Have it scanned via one of those online. Also download and check out the MyPlayCity (MPC) version HERE. It doesn't have the Themida wrapper. The main difference between the giveaway and the MPC versions are that some of the low level adware has been removed from the giveaway version, otherwise they are the same.

Whiterabbit-uk, I just went to the link you gave me above in the "HERE" and tried to install it. Same report of Trojan. Webroot SecureAnywere catches it and won't even let it load up. So, I don't know what to think about this. I will play it safe I think.

John, Hi John, Thanks for posting. My own security gave it a clean bill of health. I've never used Webroot so cannot say how good it is. Anyway, I decided to upload the MPC version to
Virus Total, that scans using loads of different anti malware suites. The results were 1 called VBA32 found TScope.Trojan.Delf. 67 others gave the game a clear bill of health. Plus two were unable to process the file (Cylance & Symantec Mobile Insight) and one timed out (TrendMicro). You can see the results below:

Whiterabbit-uk, that is fine. I understand. I have been using Webroot for years with success. I don't know if it is a false positive or not. I cannot say. But as for me, the "majority" does not rule in this case. One other program found it too. I just wanted people to know what Webroot found and they can make their own decision.
As for me, I wish it wouldn't have reported it. I love the previous versions of the game, 4 being my favorite, and I am tried of playing it from start to finish over and over. But I will pass like I always do when a possible danger is found My choice. Nothing against you nor this site.

John, I have been a visitor of this site basically since it's creation. Never had an issue. Not with the normal software, not with the games. Same is true for the downloads I do directly from MPC. I have always used virustotal which basically is the best online checker. If VT says it is ok you can count on it that it indeed is ok. If webroot is any good (never heard of it tbh) you should be able to send the file for review if a false positive is suspected.
I do agree with you that if you do not trust it do not install it.

Loaded. During installation it was reported that "W32.TROJAN.GEN" was included in the Game.exe. My antivirus removed it and the game did not work. BEWARE!

John, Hi John, thank you for reporting the issue; however, the giveaway team have been giving games away since Dec 2006 and they have 'never' given away a game infected with malware. It's more than likely that your security picked up on the Themida code that is used to wrap the executable. This was put in place to protect the game from hackers. Unfortunately some anti malware suites tag it as malware because it can also be used to hide malware.
In this case it is not malware, and a false positive.
If there really was malware packaged with this game we would already have received many complaints. The giveaway team always check all games with a series of anti malware suites before the files are allowed in the download servers.

John, I've yet to get a game from here where there is a real virus/malware. Also, any game that has the file engine.exe can be run from it, the game.exe is not necessary.
