Called Dream Farm, it's a casual farming sim in which you can play with other human players. Your tasks include growing products, selling them at the market and competing against other players for customers. You will be able to communicate with other players via in-game chat. The most surprising thing about the game world is how it's constantly changing.
An untamed land of plenty lies before you, but the path to glory lies within you in The Promised Land, a casual strategy game for the adventurous at heart! Can you tame the New World before it tames you?
Travel from the deepest trenches of the Atlantic Ocean to the awe-inspiring wonders of Mars as you solve the greatest archeological puzzle known to man: the origin of Atlantis.
Manage five farms around the world and try your hand at penguin breeding and jewelry making in Farm Frenzy 3! Features 95 outrageously fun levels, 30 wacky animals and more upgrades than there are ears in a field of corn!
Help two orphans escape an evil spell in Whispered Stories: Sandman, an adventurous tale set in a fantastical world! Only your wits and keen vision can help you on this journey!
I really enjoyed this game. I would have enjoyed it more if you could set up a queue for various tasks. I really liked how realistic the gold medal is. I was almost always just a couple of seconds from making it.

...and many thanks to wot (comment #12) for that free game link from Big Fish! I got this game, and the one a couple of weeks ago, too.
In case Alawar is reading this: I've been to Alawar to try to buy games, but that subscription-only method doesn't work for me. I'd spend 30.95 for a month for two games, and constantly feel time-pressured to finish them. Alawar has some great games, but I want to purchase them outright!

I've said before that I don't like Time Management games, but I downloaded the sequel to this game - Rescue Frenzy -based on the comments people made, and I've had so much fun with it! I still have to get the expert gold cup in a few levels. I guess I do like TM games that don't time you out with a ticking clock, and in which you accomplish a project.
This prequel is simpler in graphics, and resource-management aspects: as others have said, it would be better with the ability to cue and mark tasks, and upgrade production as you can in Rescue Frenzy, but it's still a fun game so far. I don't find the music annoying, either.
I appreciate games that I can carry with me on a thumb drive, and play offline, too.
Thanks Alawar and GGOTD!

Stephen on #12. It could be that the code for the Big Fish game only works in the US. It worked for me as well as a friend in another state not 5 minutes later.
I think it's the same code we used for the game a couple of weeks ago from Big Fish.

Thanks Diane. It doesn't really matter. I've got so many games, I'd probably never get around to playing it anyway. I've not installed any of my BigFish Account for at least two years, and hardly played most of the ones I did get over the few years I subscribed.

After a few months of not trying to d/l anything here, because of problems opening games after the new wrapper, I tried again with this one. Turned off my av, downloaded and installed, clicked on the icon and the only thing that comes up is microsoft error screen saying "RescueTeam.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
........................Moderator comment...............................
It sounds like something else you have running in the background may be conflicting with the game. Firstly try right clicking and selecting propertis, then select the comp[atibility tab. Make sure the admin box is checked and try changing some of the other parameters to see if that helps. If not, check your event log. You may find error messages that may help to identify the problem. To open the event viewer to find the log, open up the search screen (Win 7 & 8) and type Event Viewer. This should give you the event viewers icon. click on that to open up the viewer and check the logs for error messages.
It's very late in the giveaway now, so it's less likely that anyone will see your query. I'd post the same message in the forums; you're more likely to get a reply over the next few days. Did you check the FAQ's section that i link to in my review?
If you can't find anything in the even logs try turning off unecessary programs (via Task Manager) to see if one of them is conflicting with the game. another way to do this with less hassle is to use the free game booster from razer. Game Booster turns off windows system programs that aren't necessary while playing the game; you can also program it to turn off non windows applictions. The beauty of this program is, once you've finished playing your game, game booster automatically turns everything back on. It';s basically a one button application once you've configured it.

I downloaded mine later in the day but mine has no tutorials. Once I installed the game it was jump into level 1 and figure out what to do. It was pretty easy though, just diving in. You clear wood to help build. Pretty basic.
I agree DA Myst that it's pretty annoying you can't cue the workers or have them go immediately from completing one task and going straight to another. It would make it much more enjoyable. It might do that in the next game Rescue Frenzy, but I didn't download that one a few weeks ago so I don't know.
The cost to fix up certain areas of the house seem a bit expensive but then again if you had it fixed you would not continue to play.
As far as download, it still takes quite a bit of time to download even on a fiber line. I had no troubles installing, although it does go to C:\Games and you have to create your own shortcuts. Loaded right up on Win 7 and I've not seen any problems with the video or heard anything with the sound. I do keep the music turned nearly off as game music isn't my favorite. If I were giving this a point system I'd give it a 8 out of 10. I'll replay it but not like I would on some of the other games that give me the option to purchase other workers, workers going from one task to another rather than checking in and lack of clear direction in the beginning. Still, it's cute and I'll replay it when I have time to waste. :p

could someone tell me how to download this game on windows 8.1? thanks

open up your browser, find the game giveaway page then download from the download page. Once downloaded click on the green arrow (that points downwards (located to the right of the address bar). then drag the download to the desktop (or alternatively open up My Computer and click on the download folder - unless you've changed the download location). Once found, unzip then click on the orange setup key. Make sure you note where the game is installing to as there's no shortcut created. you'll have to create your own once you've located the executable.

I love TM games and yes I know they are basically all the same but they can be challenging. I own this game and Rescue Frenzy they are fun to play. I make my own challenge of getting gold on each level before I more on to the next level. For one thing it makes the game last longer and harder to complete. TM games are easy to complete if you just finish a level but going for gold on all levels is difficult it takes planning and yes a lot of clicking. So if you love TM games which I know everyone doesn't get this one. I would rather play a game like this than a HO game so to each his or her own. Enjoy the game. If you are having trouble with a game like this you can always go search the internet for a walkthrough which will explain the basic game play and give you hints to finishing a level.

The game downloaded differently then most. I unzipped the package, read the "read me" thing, then clicked the exe. file. It then tried to once again "extract" the files to my game folder, and that was it. Works fine, but that was just a different method then most times.
I played the first level and was not satisfied so I have deleted the game from my pc. I LOVE these sort of games. However, this was annoying that you had to wait for the person to completely return to his hut to click the next object. I like being able to click at least one step ahead. Other then that it was okay....but I prefer the Rescue Frenzy from a prior offer instead. I love the Janes Hotel, or the babysitting one. But you need to be able to click a few tasks in advance to keep your guy on the run.
Thanks for the trial run.

Hi, I came here today to see 'what's what' and although this Game is not really my cup of tea, not to mention my grandchildren's predominant obsession with Minecraft these days (why??:), so no competing with 'some' Time Management Games (building whatsoever) I've been collecting mainly for them in a past, lol - I cannot leave.. without saying something about Da Myst's brilliant Comment - how hilarious and to the point is that Game Assessment! Made me laugh out loud, literally. Thanks all the same for this Giveaway and other unexpected entertainment:)

Thank you for your feedback Fran. Yeah, minecraft. I purchased two copies while it was in alpha (got them for £4 each). My son uses both accounts for him and his friends. He's not as obssesed as he used to be, but is still playing it regularly (He plays some of the minecraft spinoffs and Rust). I think its popularity is partly due to the building and mining aspects of the game (we all played with building blocks when we were kids and i played with them with my kids when they were younsters (and enjoyed it) as well as the randomly generated worlds, the ability to play online with friends, the ability to craft items from the stuff you find, as well as a whole host of other stuff.

If I'd played this game before its sequel, Rescue Frenzy, I might not have tried Rescue Frenzy, which I really enjoyed. Far better graphics, complexity of tasks, and upgrades for workers and services such as banks and sawmills are available.
This game is okay but somewhat annoying. If you click on tasks to do (build house, clean up debris, etc.) in Rescue Frenzy, it placed a check mark on the task, indicating that it would be done as soon as a worker was available (a limited number of check marks available); in this game it just keeps telling you "No available worker."
It's also hard to tell if a task you've clicked on will be done by an available worker unless you watch closely, so frequently something you think is being done is not.
The sequel's tasks make more sense, too -- rebuild bridges, firehouses, hospitals, houses, etc., as well as rescue people and animals. In Rescue Team, in addition to building houses and hot dog stands, I'm supposed to find gems, but not necessarily repair bridges or roads.
Still, mildly entertaining and not too challenging; perfect for an hour or so of simple fun. Thanks again, GAOTD and Alawar.

#3: " I got a message from my Trend Micro security software that the file RescueTeam.exe contained malicious software and that it’d been deleted to protect my system."
With many brands of security software [I've no idea with Trend] it quarantines the file or files rather than really deletes them. They know that their software will make mistakes, generating false positives, so this gives them, & users a way out -- usually the software will let you see what's been quarantined & give you the option to restore it, though it may require reading the help file &/or doing a bit of research to find those options. I think most security software will also let you set it to ignore files &/or folders you specify, though it might mean reinstalling the app or game so you have the file you want to tell it to ignore.

Apparently an earlier version of the recently offered "Rescue Frenzy", gameplay is almost identical - frantic mouse clicking to demolish, build, or repair things before the clock runs out. I'm not a great fan of such games since there's little replay value beyond trying to improve your time on each level, but I did enjoy "Rescue Frenzy". "Rescue Team" is let down by one irritant - you cannot queue up tasks for the workers as you can in the later game. You can assign as many tasks as you have workers but cannot set another until a worker has returned to base (even if a worker has finished a task you must wait til he's back at base before assigning another task). There is a side "game" of repairing your own house, but this consists of merely moving the cursor over different parts of the house and, if you have enough money for the repair, clicking there and the repair is instantaneous.
The later version of this was a definite improvement in terms of graphics, sound, and play, but "Rescue Team" still gets a thumbs up. It's fun, and that's the purpose of a game.
And, as with all Alawar games from this site, installation was easy, registration automatic; in sixty seconds from downloading you're playing.

I don't get it!
From the short description given by the shillers it says: "Repair damaged restaurants, houses, and sawmills to produce necessary resources."
I understand the sawmills, but what resources are produced by houses and restaurants? I have a house but it seems to be pretty resourceless to me.
How do you free trapped workers with workers if the workers are trapped?
So, in this game I am supposed to decided between "collecting gems" and "putting out fires and rescuing drowning swimmers?" REALLY? Give me the gems! Let the poor lil drowning and trapped people die.
So, this is a reverse SHUMP. You just let the people die on their own while you collected gems and make sure the best restaurants are open for business.
I GET IT NOW!

The houses create income (i.e. gold), which is needed to complete some of the tasks. Restaurants produce food to feed the rescuers. :)

Another Time Management one, good! And one I lost when I got the new computer!
Installed and runs fine on Win7 Service pack whateveritis.
Like most of this genre, it's one of those that is about the same format with you doing the same kind of things. In fact, there are several of these kind out there, the 'rescue' ones. This is about the same as all of those. There is nothing new here you can do and is rather boring because of that.
The playability is easy, the tasks and how you go about it are as well. The music isn't bad, unlike some of these. It's at least not that annoying! The graphics are okay but nothing special and the play is alright when it comes to speed of the game itself. However, there are some serious downsides to this game.
First, someone needs to let us turn off tutorials. You don't need these for the most part, especially if you've played a few of these kind. All it does is annoy you. Especially in the first few levels.
Next one is you cannot cue up tasks. This is annoying on the games that don't allow this. It's even worse in this one. Not only can't you, you have to wait for the workers to get all the way back to the headquarters to send them out again. Considering how sprawling the playing field is, this is very annoying. And it seriously eats up the time you're allotted to reach gold and such. That's enough to make you snarl.
Some of the sound effects are—bad. I don't know how better to describe it. They are doinky sounds that just get on your nerves.
The lack of powerups and such doesn't help. As slow as some of the workers are and the sheer area they have to cover, more are needed with a better delivery of them.
Finally, the workers just don't move very quickly. Couple that with the above cue-ing up issue and you have snarl-worthy wait patterns. Even when you can get one of the things that help that.
While this is a game that is about the same as the others out there, the issues I listed above are enough to kill enjoyment of it. Especially if you play these a lot. For those that don't, it probably won't be a big issue. For me, it was. And it makes the replayability not good. In fact, I'm now remembering why I didn’t go back and replay it like I do some.
I would give this about a five. I'm not going to thumbs up or down this one because it's about in the middle.
Thanks again for a great giveaway!

I installed the game and started playing. My little guy came out on the first mission and collected the groceries, removed the wood blocking the road, then started building the cafe. A few seconds into that process, the game crashed to the desktop. The RescueTeam_game folder was still open on my desktop and a second or so after the crash, I saw the .EXE file vanish. I got a message from my Trend Micro security software that the file RescueTeam.exe contained malicious software and that it'd been deleted to protect my system.
Well, okay then. :/
I don't know whether there's actually something nasty in there (would be wierd, since I have other Alawar games and they've been fine) or whether it's a misunderstanding on the part of the Trend Micro software, but either way, I guess I won't be playing this one.

RescueTeam:
In Brief:
We were given the sequel to this back in February (Rescue Frenzy). It’s basically the same Time Management game only you are rescuing in a different environment.
Installation:
Rescue Team downloads to a 45.1 MB zip file and unpacks to a wrapped setup file, a security file (setup.gcd) and a read me doc with the terms and conditions and instructions
The game installs to the following path by default and is 41.4 MB in size once installed:
C:\Games\ RescueTeam_game
There is no shortcut installed nor any uninstaller. To delete just delete the installed executable
I’ve not tested it on all of my computers. Most are offline at the moment awaiting various repairs or upgrades. It works on both my Win 7 and Win 8.1 computers.
Introduction:
Review accessed HERE 23rd March 2014
If you miss today’s giveaway you can get the game 24/7 from MyPlayCity or Jenkat Games . Do remember to uncheck any boxes during installation if you decide to download from these sites, in particular MyPlayCity. When closing a game down from either of these sites, your browser will be opened and redirected to their respective home pages, but this is totally safe. If you do forget to uncheck one or more of the boxes presented duiring installation, you can reverse the problems. Just search on goggle for removing toolbars and changing your home page/browser provider.
The Game:
In Rescue Team, players rebuild three islands that have been hit by a terrible storm by repairing houses and facilities, removing debris, and performing other helpful tasks. At its heart the game is very similar to My Kingdom for the Princess and its ilk, just transferred to a modern setting and with less charm or strategic depth.
Rescue Team features 60 levels scattered over three different islands. There is only one mode in which you can finish levels with gold, silver, or bronze scores depending on your time, and with those scores and the resulting money you can reconstruct your own home that has been damaged by the tornado, too. The game lacks a proper tutorial, which won’t be too bad for people who are already used to this type of game, but beginners might have serious problems to get into it. At least it’s not really possible to fail, so if you don’t care that much for the full restoration of your home you can take as much time as you like for each level.
Each level consists of a few goals and presents slightly varying maps to the player. It could be that you have to save villagers by boat or helicopter, collect gems, or to repair certain structures. All these goals can be supported or fulfilled by your staff, the members of the rescue team, which simply replace workers from similar titles. For nearly every action that you let your workers perform a resource is needed, but in most cases you will also get a different resource in return. Those include gold, wood, and food, neither a very complex nor a very innovative mixture, but it still works.
Most of the times you have to remove debris from the streets, rebuild structures such as houses (which produce gold), sawmills (which produce wood), or hot dog stands (which produce, you guess it, food), or free workers who are trapped behind large rocks by collecting and using dynamite. Villagers can be saved by constructing the helipad or the boathouse and clicking them, which will also cost a good chunk of your gold reserves. Fires can be extinguished in a similar manner. Rescue Team also features bonuses that can be collected and will provide different results, such as a quicker produce of a specific resource or speeding up your staff members.
Compared to My Kingdom for the Princess or Roads of Rome, Rescue Team feels pretty light when it comes to presentation and diversity. The maps have a rather cartoonish look but are not very detailed or vibrant. The same can be applied to the goals - pretty quickly you will feel like doing the same over and over again, and the initially steep but later on stagnating grade of difficulty does not really help there.
<
Another aspect which restricts complexity and playing fun is that you are not able to upgrade buildings or hire new workers. Furthermore you are not able to chain actions, so you are mostly waiting for your workers to return to the headquarter to give new orders. Flawed controls and too simplified gameplay certainly do not warrant a recommendation for any game normally, but the otherwise smooth gameplay and the motivation to beat every level in the shortest amount of time prevent Rescue Team from being a real dud.
The game is a solid addition to the genre, although it’s by no means the best in its class. The graphics are far from outstanding, and the variety of goals, features and level design is very restricted, but for fans of an under-represented genre it is still worth a shot due to its challenging nature and the decent playing time.

Video:
You can see a video of Rescue Team HERE,
Music:
The music is standard fare for this type of game (I tend to turn it off). Thankfully, if you do like music playing in the background, you can change the music by swapping the four ogg files for ones you like. Just select your favorite music from your collection, use an audio converter to convert the files to ogg and rename them to the ones you are replacing. I’d keep the originals in a backup folder just in case there are any problems.
You’ll find the music files by following the path below:
C:\Games\RescueTeam_game\data\sound\music\music0 ….. to music 3
Minimum System Specifications:
Operating System: Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8
CPU: 1.0 GHz
System RAM: 512 MB
DirectX: 8.0
Hard Drive: 46 MB
<
Conclusion:
A typical Time Management (T.M.) game with a resource system that’s easy to grasp. You get a decent amount of time to complete levels, though getting gold on most levels is quite hard. On my first play, I managed to get gold on level one, but only silver on levels 2 and 3.
It’s a fairly challenging game, but not hard to complete, especially if you are familiar with Time Management games. There’s little in the way of a decent tutorial, so, if you’ve not played this type of game before I’d play a trial round just to get used to the game play. There isn’t much in the way of new content introduced as the game progresses; SO, what you see at the beginning is basically what you’ll see throughout the game.
The graphics are cute and will probably appeal to children.
Overall an average game. Will probably appeal to T.M. fanatics.
The house restoring mini game add to the overall pleasure of playing this game.
Score:
Game play – 7.5
Graphics – 7.5
Audio – 6
Re-playability – 7
Originality – 6.5
Total = 6.9 out of 10

Problems:
If you are posting a problem late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums in the game discussion section. If you’ve installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn’t guaranteed). It’s always worth checking out the free games sites as sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. Gametop, MyPlayCity and FreeGamePick. The game is available free 24/7 from MyPlayCity and Jenkat Games. Please do remember that many of these free game sites will, if you don’t uncheck the check boxes, install toolbars, change your search engine and home page. These changes are reversible, but are an annoyance when they do occur; so long as you are vigilante and make sure you uncheck those boxes, you should be okay. Most of these sites will open up your browser to their web site when you shut the games down, but . Jenkat Games is probably the best place to get these games, though MyPlayCity has the largest catalogue, with over 1000 games. Other sites where you can get free arcade games include Gametop and FreeGamePick.
