I'm not going to be able to post any reviews or moderate until I've updated my main computer; which as I mentioned last Thursday, died on me last week. I though I knew what the problem was and replaced the broken CPU fan, but it turned out to be a more serious motherboard issue. At the moment I'm looking to either buy a second hand gaming rig via eBay, or replace the motherboard, CPU and RAM on my broken computer? This is going to take several days as I need to keep an eye on the eBay auctions and research which CPU, MoBo and RAM to purchase. as I'm still not sure which road to take. I've stuck with Intel for many years, but am seriously thinking of an AMD processor as they seem to be better value for your money.
So it's unlikely I'll be able to post any reviews or moderate until I've sorted it all, which will be several days at the very least. As I mentioned last Thursday, my other spare (and older) computers are all in various states of being rebuilt and my kids computers are fully booked for most of the day as both are studying from home with streamed lectures, tutorials and pseudo-practical sessions).
I'll be back ;)

Whiterabbit-uk, Every time you say "I'll be back", I think of the Terminator movie.

mark_wr Michigan, ...so I guess I'll tell my joke:
Arnold Schwarzenegger was asked to play Mozart in the movie Amadeus.
He said:
No, I won't play Mozart.
...
But, "I'll be Bach".

Some of the REALLY old computer stuff can go for crazy money! Should you have the time (and interest), look around on the 'net for "vintage" pc items. If not for selling, then just for giggles.

I won't be downloading this game since I haven't had a chance to play most of what I already have from this site :-)
Thank You Whiterabbit for years of service( god that sounds awful). Without your hard work life would be boring, expensive and dissapointing with bad software. Me and hubby (sorry - hubby and I) have been around computers since punch cards in high school so I totaly sympasize. (I used to know how to spell). I liked my Win 3.1 as I felt I could still understand it , except it kept crashing :-(. Now I have settled on XP laptop (full of Giveaway software) and a number of cheap Android tablets. Hubby has a collection including cassette loaded operating system computer. Most of them are like yours, used to work.
I am sure you will succeed in upgrading/fixing your computer.
I will keep checking here for your posting.
Stay Safe

Check whatever "free offer" websites you have in your area. What with Covid going on, people may have pc's they want to get rid of, but have no outlet. Especially since you are a DIY computer person, you may be able to piece together what you need.

DianaAspenHill,
Thanks for the suggestion Diana, it only occured to me last night that the lock-down was probably responsible for the lack of any decent computers on eBay. I'll check my local gum tree when the kids take a break from their studies. Maybe I'll get lucky. I'm increasingly thinking of just buying new components. i.e. CPU, RAM and motherboard.
On the subject of old computers. when I was down in Cambridge (I was on a years work experience from university, working at the Plant Breeding Institute). One of the lecturers was selling some hardware and I bought one of those old teleprinters that had computer cards and ticker tape. I'm seriously thinking of either advertising all my spares on gum tree (for free) or donating most of my spares to a charity organisation in the centre of Manchester that takes such things and then builds computers using those spares that are then given to people who can't afford to buy a computer. I have boxes of computer hardware from spare keyboards and mice to motherboards, old CPU's going back 20+ years, graphic cards, RAM, sound cards to almost complete computers; most just gathering dust in one of the attic rooms. (I hate throwing such things out)
