In Brief:

Seriously, I wasn't expecting much, but for the short time I played this game I really enjoyed the challenge. It's one of those get to the end of the level before you run out of petrol or overturn your vehicle (though it's unlikely you'll run out of petrol) as there are lots of pickups along the way to the end.

Controls are simple, use your mouse button to select from the menu's and your left and right arrow keys to move back or forwards; though you won't be using the back arrow much.

Graphics are sharp with simple colours and a stark background, which for me actually adds to the games feel.

You start off with a generous amount of money (200 000) which can be spent immediately on various upgrades and unlocking new vehicles and new levels of which there are seven levels in total (see the images below for details) and eight different vehicles (including cars, camper vans, trucks, bikes and even a tank) that you can unlock by spending some of the cash you start with.

Use your right arrow key for gas and the left arrow key to break or move backwards. Use the keys sparingly; you don't need to keep the accelerate key depressed for more than a quick tap every few seconds or so. Beware of accelerating when near the top of a hillock as you're liable to overturn and end your progress. If you depress for any more than a tap I guarantee you'll end up turning your vehicle over and that's the end of the game; you have to start from the beginning when this happens because there's no save points. You can pause your game via the pause button in the top right of the screen that also gives you the option of restarting the level.

You can see your progress via the distance travelled bar graph at the bottom of the games screen. The further in you get the more difficult it becomes to stop your vehicle from turning over. My three attempts have seen me turn over each time and I've been very judicious with the use of the accelerator key (forward arrow).

Yes I really like this game. As mentioned elsewhere, it's an ideal coffee break game. When you first start the game up you can immediately upgrade every part of the vehicle (at least the first vehicle you start with. There's a lot of cash to spend and you earn a lot more cash as you travel along each of the seven levels picking up numerous gold coins; more than I've ever seen in other similar games.
If you run out of cash while upgrading, unlocking a new level or vehicle a small window pops up asking you if you would like to get more coins for free. If you select yes, a full page grey coloured ad pops up that says you can earn 4000 coins per ad and that you can watch approximately 25 ad's per day. . I wasn't able to leave this screen unless I clicked on the show button (the back button wouldn't work) or Alt+F4 to leave the game. I chose the latter as I don't want to watch adds while playing a simple arcade game.

You can see a video of game play HERE.
Conclusion:

Racing Boy is well worth downloading and playing; more so during your breaks because it's a nice short game. The levels may require a little practice to get through to the end of a level initially, but once you get the mechanic it's well worth the effort, at least in short sessions. It's not a game I'd play for more than 20 to 30 minutes tops, but it's still worth keeping and playing occasionally.

The initial menu screen has three buttons Exit, Start and More games. The last button opens up your browser to a Google Apps page called Transport Moldova that appears to be an app for transport time tables across several European countries. The Start button opens up the level screen, where you progress to each level by tapping the level thumbnail image and not the next button which takes you to the Vehicle selection screen. Initially as already mentioned all vehicles apart from the first one are locked, but you can easily unlock them by clicking on the in the centre spot (so long as you have the cash).

Unfortunately all the screen captures I took while playing initially came out blank initially, with images of my desktop instead; so, I've spent a good 90 minutes trying to figure out what the issue was before posting an edit to my original posts. I finally reverted to Windows own snipping tool, which, because the game doesn't drop to the task bar if you have a multi-monitor set up and click outside of the game it stays full screen, so I was able to use the tool. Usually it's impossible to use on these Unity based games.. I was using Ashampoo Snap 10. I'll see if I can use the snipping tool or one of my less used screen capture programs later. You can see a few images at the top of the giveaway page for now. I still have some legal stuff to work through at the moment, which is really important as we have been looking to finalise things after almost nine years of legal wrangles (paying out a small fortune to the legal team).

A Big Negative:
Despite liking the game I do not like the fact that both the More Games button and the pop up that appears if you don't have enough cash to upgrade etc, leads to advertising that has nothing to do with the game. You can avoid both by not pressing the buttons. In my opinion, both of these should not be included with a simple arcade game like Racing Boy; especially as it's usually $5 to buy via Itch.io. (see my comment in answer to Jason's feedback for details of a similar game that's always free).

Whiterabbit-uk,

Notes on Security

I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game using Virus Total and it found zero hits from 56 antimalware engines.
You can see the results of the installed games scan via the following link:

https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/2e2acd6fc055b328f2ead9631d8599021fdc88b43cd0095c88a95f51d3ac2744?nocache=1

If you're still not convinced of the games efficacy and want to be absolutely sure that the game is safe to install, please use a sandbox program first, to check that the game is safe to install before installing it to your C drive or other drives on your computer (assuming you have more than one drive).

Personally I've never had any issues with any of falcowares games, even when the Falcoware installer was included.

There are free sandbox programs such as Sanboxie, GeSWall, BitBox, Windows Sandbox, Bufferzone (a six month commercial license was given away via the applications side of the project back in December 2009 HERE), Shadowzone, as well as others. (You'll find them all on the same page from Techwhoop.

Whiterabbit-uk,

You'll find regularly updated details of all the reasonable game deals and freebies that I can find HERE . I update the thread every few days (unless I'm really busy).

The latest freebie from Steam is the excellent Massive Multiplayer Online ARK: Survival Evolved (includes a single player mode) together with seven of it's DLC's (these are not skins but actual add-ons that include six additional maps and a total conversion DLC). Grab it while it's free until the 19th June. Brief explanation of the game - You are stranded on the shores of a mysterious island, and must learn to survive. Use your cunning to kill or tame the primeval creatures roaming the land, and encounter other players to survive, dominate... and escape! .

Also free via Steam until the 22nd June is Capcom Arcade Stadium and Capcom Arcade Stadium:STREET FIGHTER II - The World Warrior HERE. With your download you also get to relive the Capcom classics! Get 1943 -The Battle of Midway- and game logo wallpapers free!

The latest game giveaway via GOG is Beautiful Desolation and another game will be given on the 20th June, with possibly more to come, so keep checking the page I've linked to HERE. Also free via GOG is the Unity version of the second in the series Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall (always free) HERE (the Elder Scrolls is one of my favourite RPG franchises; having followed the series since the first release back in the early 90's. (My favourite is Morrowind, followed by Oblivion. The Online version is great but a bit of a cash cow as you have loads of DLC's to add to the game, which can become super expensive; however, if you have all or most of the DLC, you can explore virtually the whole of Tamriel, that covers all the previous games and more; and is massive. )

The latest free Epic game Supraland is now live, with A Game of Thrones Board Game and Car Mechanic 2018 free from next Thursday 23rd June (the same day the steam summer sale starts)

Thank you to Delenn and Jason for the heads-up on some of the above freebies.

sailorbear510 aka Jason,

Hi Jason,

Thanks for posting.

I've been checking Amazon gaming for several months now; though it's been around for a couple of years (I believe).

I've got some excellent Origin and uPlay games so far (e.g. Apex Legends, Madden NFL 22, Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighbouville, Far Cry 4). Usually every month you get a selection of several full games, at least one of which will be from one of the big name distributors like Origin (mainly) or uPlay. I've not seen any Steam games offered yet; but as I said, I've missed a lot of freebies since its inception. Most of the offerings are add on packs, skins and DLC for various games; mainly online multiplayer games/ MMO's like World of Warships, Dead by Daylight etc. It's another great source of free games for those who subscribe to Amazon.

I've been a Prime member for years. Initially I subscribed simply because it was worth it just for the free postage because we used to order a lot of stuff via Amazon; literally a couple of times a week at the very least. The annual sub used to be just over £60, whereas we would previously pay out far more in postage costs and returns.. I don't know how much I pay now, but with Amazon Gaming, Amazon Music, free subscription to Twitch and Amazon streaming, the subscription is fantastic value.

p.s. I list the free games via Amazon Gaming each month over in the giveaway forums HERE This months offerings include:

Far Cry 4 (uPlay code)
Escape from Monkey Island
WRC 8 FIA World Rally Championship
Astrologaster
Across the Grooves

plus loads of add-ons for various games like League of Legends, GTA V, Warframe, Two Point Hospital, Smite, New World, World of Warships, World of Tanks, Assassins Creed: Valhalla, Runescape, Dead By Daylight, Destiny 2 and many more.

Today's game is one of those distance based type of game where you have to move your car in order to travel the whole distance and gather as many coins as you can to unlock different vehicles and levels.

It appears similar to the gameplay of Moon Patrol, an arcade game which you had to go the distance but this game only has driving your car, not shooting things.

The arrow keys apparently seem to control the game being left slows the car down and right accelerates the car. Hold down the right arrow too much and your car will flip over and you have to retry the level.

Physics in this game is kind of funny and at times when I went through the first course the game mistakenly said I am lost although my car was level on the playing field.

Also present in this game is an error in the title screen where it always says loading - I'm not sure the logic for that but it's not been fixed. There is a challenge factor here but you will find yourself replaying levels until you get enough coins to unlock the whole game.

It does appear to commend you based on good gameplay saying new record! Travel distance and so forth.

Although a little buggy I did enjoy playing this game even though I flipped my car over quite a few times in the process of playing. It's a keeper in your library and an interesting one at that.

sailorbear510 aka Jason,

Thank you for your excellent feedback on todays game Jason, (appreciated) and here's a video of Moon Patrol; I wasn't familiar with the game' looks colourful and fun . Also it has a pretty decent graphic for a 1982 arcade game. Have you seen the Moon Patrol remake using the Unreal engine and made for PC? Looks gorgeous HERE.

There's also a another recent mini game remake version of Moon Patrol that looks pretty good and more importantly is free (another one using the unreal engine by Yok HERE). I've not played it yet as I'm still really busy with legal stuff, but I had to check out Moon Patrol (simply because I'm obsessed with any game that has an off world theme) , and I even got more involved with todays game despite having a lot to do; lol.
