Today's giveaway is almost 818MB in size (and over 1GB once installed). The giveaway servers have limited bandwidth, so downloads will be very slow, especially in the early hours of the giveaway and more so when America wakes up. This is due to large numbers of community members downloading at the same time. The large file means more community members will overlap while downloading, which could mean an excruciatingly slow download.. Please do consider not using a download manager as this will add more of a bottleneck, especially for those not using a download manager. for example the download manager i use can download in sixteen separate packages, which means if i used the download manager, it would take up 16 download slots on the giveaway servers, which would be unfair to those not using a download manager.

An interesting HOG with excellent graphics and animations. I've only played the game for an hour so haven't posted a full review. You can play either in regular mode where the hint button recharges in 60 seconds and interactive zones sparkle. In expert mode it takes twice as long to recharge the hint button and there's no help with interactive zones. As with most HOG's of this type you can skip cut scenes if you wish, but I'd advise not to as they do add a lot to the overall feel of the game. The game starts once the cut scene has finished with a tutorial, which you can close if you wish. The usual advise such as when the cursor changes into an arrow or magnifying glass indicates something to take a closer look at. When you click on such items you'll zoom in on them and if a hand appears you can interact with the object you are hovering over, most times you'll require an object to find before you can uncover what's hidden behind, for example the food platter with the cover requires the knob to be able to lift the cover to reveal what's underneath, or to look under the floor of the carriage you'll need a torch or other light source to search underneath. It's basically standard fare for HOG's of this type. If you get stuck with respect to not knowing what to do next or where to find an object, the hint button is a handy help. Personally I try not to use the hint button unless I'm totally confused, or have been searching for that last item for ages. There's also a journal that keeps a note of your progress.
The game starts off relatively easy, finding various useful items, all of which are required to progress further into the train. It took me a good 30 minutes and almost 60 screen captures to get to my first full HOG scene, and over a hundred to get to the second. The puzzles are quite logical, but do require you to find various codes ....SPOILER ALERT... for example one code is written on a window, you need to find a cleaning cloth to clean the window before you can see the code. Once a code is found it will appear in the journal. On returning to the puzzles, which are liberally scattered throughout the train; some can be solved simply by clicking on the appropriate clue that you found, which is usually located in the inventory, though some puzzles do require more interaction such as the Chinese chequers like puzzle, where you have to move sets of marbles to fit the pattern. You find the pattern via two separate finds, one of which is ....SPOILER ALERT... in the camera. These interactive puzzles are timed. If you run out of time you can skip the puzzle.

Other Reviews, Videos and Walk-throughs and a slideshow of Psycho Train:
You can see community reviews of Psycho Train HERE and more information in the Big Fish forums HERE. You can also see reviews of the game over on Steam (mixed) HERE
if you want to see some game play you can see some videos of game play HERE, HERE, HERE - (German), HERE, HERE, HERE and the following video is the first in a series of 11 walk-through videos of the game which you can see HERE. You'll find a written walk-through over on HOG Game HERE - (someone reported a possible issue with the download version of this walk-through), plus a slide show of 170 images in no particular order (mainly the earliest images are near the end due to numbering), also a lot of the images will contain spoilers such as codes and show you where interactive area's are located. You'll find the slideshow HERE.
Conclusion:
I found Psycho Train very entertaining and very interactive. It was relatively easy, especially for HOG aficionado's. I'd score this a 9 out of 10 for the graphics, game play, sound, interactive are's and excellent puzzles. A good family HOG, though the theme may be inappropriate for young children.

Whiterabbit-uk, how is this comment posted 4 days ago when the giveaway is today?

anon,

Hello Anon,

I originally posted a short note four days ago, then posted the review you see below yesterday, but I'd posted the updated version in the wrong place, so no one saw my full review until later in the day. I'd mistakenly posted it where the 2017 version was posted as I can get access to all previous comments via the admin panel.

The full review was actually posted on the 18th July, one day before it went live. I was given access to the admin panel so that i could edit my reviews and correct typo's and bad grammar back in 2008. As a favour for allowing access to the admin panel I said I would moderate the comments section and forums, which I've been doing ever since. I have access to the admin panel so can see which games are going to be given away. Usually a few days ahead of time, sometimes longer, sometimes with no warning; but it does give me time to post some sort of review before the game goes live.
I can usually download and install the weekday games, but for the weekends games from MyPlayCity (MPC) and TooMky Games, I usually download directly from their site so that I can post a review. For the past year, we have been getting a lot of repeats from when MPC first started to post games here with a reduced adware content (the adware does not install to your system and is only active when you first boot up a game from these free sites and when your browser is redirected to their home page, this allows the middle man to pay the developer for allowing their games to be given away for free./ All games from these sites are commercial shareware games and are sold on many other commercial game sites like Gamehouse, Steam, Big Fish Games, Alawar etc.
I usually re-post my old review, sometimes with edits or additions; usually new images becasue the site I used for uploading images have either closed or the images have been removed for some reason (apart from slideshows uploaded to photo-bucket, but because I use a free account, only so many community members can access those images before the bandwidth has been exhausted for the week.
I hope this answers your query? Stay safe

Lawrence Carter, if you were having problems with the GGOTD version (?), proably the GGOTD "wrapper" ued to protect the software is being blocked by your anti-virus.

I can't speak for other AVs but I use avast!; and I always have to disable the Behaviour Shield (it's in Protection, Core Shields in the avast UI) for 10 minutes to allow a GGOTD game to install. avast also introduced a new Shield recently which definitely blocks the GGOTD "wrapper" software: I had to REMOVE that to get GGOTD installs to work again. (Apologies, but I can't remember the name of the new Shield! It might have been Ransomware Shield? Don't quote me!)

I hope that helps, and if not, I hope it's of some help to other GGOTD users who use avast as their AV and are having probems installing GGOTD games.

Todays and yesterdays bigfish games don't install on my PC (Windows10 Pro 64bit)
I decompressed the zip files and all 3 files are in there. When I run setup it takes some waitingtime and ends with 'succesfully registered' but there is no game anywhere to be found.
I've even tried with different compatibilty modes.
I also tried with antivirus and firewall turned off.

Yesterday, I've even installed the game from bigfish itself, ofcourse not a registered one, and then ran the setup from giveawayoftheday, but that didn't change it into a registered version neighter.

Frank B,

Hello Frank, please excuse my late reply. Have you checked your event logs? If you check them immediately after trying to install the game using the event viewer, it will be easier to see if any error message has been left that may indicate what the issue is.
I had a similar problem some years ago. It turned out to be some security software that I thought had been disabled, but when I updated some hardware on my computer the security suite was re activated. However, becasue it ran in the background and the only way to see if it was running was using the right context menu, I didn't realise it was running until I contacted Microsoft and they remotely connected to my computer and fund the issue in less than 30 seconds. Once I'd deleted that software, I was again able to download and install giveaways.
If neither of the above help, check out the FAQ's thread over in the game discussion sticky section HERE, you may find something that helps?

Excited for today's giveaway! Noted this one for a long while. Likely one of those lost during last data dive (the external HD fell off a flat surface and that was that).

In any case, this is right up there in terms of theme for me, love the spooky scary skeletons et al. Downloading now, but as it's a large file and I've got to go out, not sure I'll squeeze in any actual gameplay today. Interactivity is a plus as it keeps you engaged and wanting to move onto the next part of the story.

Our Whiterabbit gives this 9/10 which furthers makes me happy for this game today, as we know HOGs aren't his #1 genre. :) Cheers for the offer and for the review.

Stay safe everyone.
