I'm not usually much on HOGs, but this one works for me: great, lush rich graphics, 2 difficulty levels, plenty of hints, not timed, and, being a Collector's Edition, a strategy guide (which I usually wind up needing for these games).
Thanks, all!

No need to use social media or email to download today. I'm a happy camper. Thank you Toomky and GGAOTD.

Sid, I usually share the giveaways on my Facebook page because there are some friends who like these casual type games. Money is tight for some right now but the price of free is right for many :)

I'm wondering if the mini-games can be skipped. I seldom enjoy them - maybe because I am not good at them - and sometimes get stuck. So, I like being able to move on without completing them.

kalmly, the mini=games can be skipped once the 'skip' button charges, but here's another suggestion: since you say you're not good at them, this game has a strategy guide built in that shows you how to solve each mini-game. Although you definitely want to try solving without the guide, it's possible that consulting the guide when you are truly stuck will actually teach you how to approach those types of games and make it easier for you the next time!

kalmly, Yes you can.

Unlike my longtime friend WhiteRabbit, I love HOG/Adventure Games (high on adventure/puzzle solving and lighter on HO) and this is a good one! And an advantage of getting older is that even though this was given away before, it still plays fresh for me :). Installed fine on Win 10 and so far playing smoothly. I really prefer games, like this one, that have interactive maps, and as a bonus, there's a strategy guide/walkthrough right in the game if I should really get stuck. Overall, a thumbs up.

Just wanted to add that a minor peeve with many of these games, including this one, is that you have to click a lot of things to exit, often having to first go to the menu (and confirm you REALLY want to go to the menu) then click exit, then confirm you REALLY want to exit, etc. Guys, assume if I click Menu I want the menu, and if I click Exit I really, really want to exit! :) A few games let you hit one or two buttons and voila! You've exited! Minor, but I've been meaning to mention this.

This is the first time I've seen this game. And at first I thought 8 Floor only did mahjong and solitaire games :) Today we've received a collectors edition with extra goodies that it should have standard inside a game marked as such.
I love the FMV sequences as it would explain the games main file size installed. However, the beginning of the game had me chuckle as to why the gate to a certain area could not be opened...... I guess this was to add a puzzle element to the game and no other way the gate arm could be opened.
(Hey I kinda thought the gatekeeper was being rude to the lady lol )
The audio is pleasing to the ear and the graphics on the screen are pretty sharp. It's just a little heavy on the cut scenes.
Since this is a collectors edition, you have access to a strategy guide at the bottom right of the screen to point you in the right direction should you need help.
This kind of defeats the purpose of playing the game however as its located right where the hint button is. I am more likely to use the hint button to play the game versus using the guide. It could have been hidden off screen and put in another menu somewhere.

Sorry to say that while this game looks fabulous, it doesn't work, and this is my typical experience of late. Most of the games I download here do only one thing: open the toomkey games page in my browser. That's it. No compatibility mode will get it to run.
Last week or so I had downloaded the most fantastic looking game which caused me to have to reset the entire computer from the only thing that still worked, the ctrl-alt-del menu. Even the task manager didn't run.
This time at least my entire computer and all of my work wasn't compromised, but I've used every compatibility mode to try running today's game, from Windows 8 to Windows 95. Every single one failed with the same symptom: it brought up the toomkey games page in the browser, as if the game had already run.
Installed it on a laptop with no problem (both have W10, 64), but the laptop is terrible for playing games.
Today's full game is definitely installed on here: 822M (almost a full gig of absolutely nothing functional!), 1403 files, 17 folders.
The number of games I've uninstalled from this site is far greater than the number of games that have successfully run after installation. I'm probably at about 20% (if that) of offered games that successfully run.
Please tell me there are workarounds for games that do nothing and don't respond to changing the compatibility mode.
Thanks in advance.

MJ,
What operating system are you using? Have you tried checking the event viewer immediately after trying to play the game. You may find messages that will give a clue as to what is wrong.

MJ,
I guess you turned off your virus software before trying to open the game, If not, that's the usual problem.
Also try going to the Toomby website, look under Hogs, and download on there. It's on there. One of these two things will probably help you. Good luck.

MJ, I have a lowly Windows 10 laptop from Lenovo with an AMD A6 chip and 4gb ram and it runs games from the external drive well. I don't know the situation your computer is in but I think you may be missing some runtime libraries that may need to be installed on your computer in order to have it run. I found the website Majorgeeks to be a helpful resource in tracking down these runtime packages and so forth so you may want to check them out. If all else fails you may want to contact the developer to ask them what run time you need to make the game work properly. This has happened to me with many Steam games.

MJ, you don't mention what OS you are using, but from your comments I assume it's W10. As you say that you can install and play on your W10 laptop, it's obviously a problem with your computer's OS installation and/or setup. Is your desktop resolution too low? Do you have all W10 updates? DirectX? Have a look at https://www.giveawayoftheday.com/forums/topic/11647 for some suggested fixes; especially in your case viewing the event log to see if there are any error messages, perhaps a missing driver...?

This game was given away only recently. Something new please!
Good game!

Funnily enough, this is the HOG I've been playing lately! The HOG scenes are all either find-the-named-object or put-these-things-where-they-belong; and the mini-games are in general not too difficult.
Mercifully, the game has an interactive map showing you where there are 'things to do,' and allowing you to 'teleport' from one location to another instead of having to go through n other locations to get from A to B.
Being the Collector's Edition, this incluides the Bonus Chapter, which is as enjoyable as the main game (not merely an afterthought!).
If it matters to you, the animated and cut scenes are reasonable, though the voices are (as is usual in a HOG, IMHO) over-acted and overly slow — speaking as an audiobook narrator myself ;).
Overall, an entertaining HOG which I'd recommend if you're a HOG fan.

Cad Delworth, At first I thought these were AI generated voices like you hear on the telephones but then again they did sound real. I have a pair of gaming headphones and the experience gets more immersive when you play it with them on versus listening to your computer speakers.
