There are not many cartridges, but if they are used correctly, then enough to win. Be careful, zombies are always on your trail.

In Brief:
Today's game giveaway is unusual as it's from our weekday contributor instead of the usual MyPlayCity and TooMky games. Whether this is a permanent arrangement I don't know, but it is very very unusual not to see a game from those contributors. Today's game is curtesy of Falcoware games and is dark first person zombie killer game. I say killer rather than shooter, because initially all you have to survive is a piece of pipe.

You can see a video of game play HERE.

The Game:

The introduction tells you more or less everything you need to know about todays game giveaway. Approach the small boxes mounted on walls that says HELP to access a clue as to what the password to escape the cellar is. Zombies respawn in less than a minute so don't keep your back turned on one you've recently killed. You pick up a limited supply of ammunition while exploring the maze like cellar. Once you've collected all nine letters and numbers you can approach the exit (if you can find your way). Don't forget to turn on your torch. Initially I thought you had to find a torch so was wandering around in the barely navigable and virtually black maze and must have died around ten times before I took a break then noticed the controls. The game became a little easier after that, but because the zombies respawn relatively quickly, it's still quite difficult to survive; especially if you've got yourself trapped with more than one or two zombies chasing you. If you manage to find the pistol, life will become a little easier, but you do have limited ammunition so be careful not to waste it.
Conclusion:
Overall a reasonably challenging zombie game, though most of the zombies you see look exactly the same, which spoils the game somewhat, but it's still well constructed and playable. I did find it a little too dark, but I suppose this gives the game a some atmosphere. I'd like to have seen the ability to lighten up the game a little; still for free, it's worth a download. Once you escape the cellar I wouldn't say it's got much re-playability.

Whiterabbit-uk,

Other Free Games:
For other free games, please check Delenn's threads over in the giveaway forums HERE (non-Steam games) and HERE (Steam games) for the latest freebies; it's kept up to date frequently, whenever a free game becomes available, (thanks for keeping this up to date Delenn, very much appreciated).

Also, for the latest Steam sales check THIS Steam database site out. You can list the games in 'price' & 'percentage off' by clicking the headers. If you link SteamDB (the Steam database) with your Steam account, all games that you already have will be highlighted in green and those in blue are on your wish list. When there are Steam games being given away, you'll see the percentage off as 100%. It's worth checking this regularly to make sure you don't miss the best deals and freebies. Delenn usually posts links to all free games within several hours of them going live, so check her links at the top of this comment as well.
Don't forget to check Indie Gala's freebie section HERE, then click on the Showcase header, selecting freebies from the drop down menu; the most recent additions include:

1) ... The Last Enchantress: Revival, (choice-based fantasy game, contains adult themes and NOT suitable for children.)

2) ... Vroom Racing (NEW ... Drive a Formula 1 car upon 18 worldwide tracks : Reach 380 Km/h and beat the ghost !)

3) ... Avani: The Primal Land (Explore, gather, learn, craft and build. Fight, hunt and tame wild animals. Includes a unique crafting system combined with a huge skill tree and an intuitive building system mixed with traditional survival game elements.)

4) ... Cov Shooter (Try to survive as many waves as possible, upgrade your stats and weapons to do that.)

5) ... WTC : Relentless Protagonist [Sxs}, (a short mostly KINETIC comedy/drama visual novel.)

6) ... Out of Puberty: Chapter 1 (graphic novel, contains adult themes and NOT suitable for children.)

7) ... Neon Invasion Earth, (space invaders.)

8) ... WTC : Recruitment Day (a short mostly KINETIC comedy/drama visual novel.)

9) ... Trainpunk Run (ReRUN ... “fly and shoot” in a steampunk environment.)

10) ... Welcome To... Chichester OVN 3 : The Mysterious Affair At The Violet Hotel (Interactive novel.)

11) ... Last Dream (NEW ... a sprawling RPG maker like game)

We have been given over 340 games since I started to check the freebie section several years ago. But around 60% of those are no longer available free. The following recent freebies have now been removed from the free library: Pixel Puzzles 2: Paintings , Hamsterdam, Copperbell, Chainsaw Warrior, Leisure Suit Larry 2 Looking For Love (In Several Wrong Places), Leisure Suit Larry 1 - In the Land of the Lounge Lizards , Figment, Pixel Puzzles 2: Space, Revolution Ace, Six Sides of the World, Byte Family, Alone on Mars, Garfield Kart, Nostradamus the Last Prophecy, Snowball, Pixel Puzzles 2: Christmas , Die Young (Full version), Distortions, Dino Run DX, Cheap Golf, Kill Em All, Dead Hungry Diner, and Contract with the Devil.

Any game you claim while it's being offered free, will remain in your Indie Gala library and can be downloaded at any time, under the showcase section. Each page from your free list can take 30 or so seconds to move to the next page; so, if like me you've added most of the free games over the last several years, it can take almost half an hour to get to the last page. I have just over 340 games in my free section. All remaining freebies can be found in the showcase section (115 games are still available). Not all games that go into the showcase remain free and are removed after a short period (e.g. the recent adventure puzzler Figment that costs almost £15 on Steam); so, you should grab them as soon as you can. All titles are DRM free.

The latest Epic Game is now available until are available until 4pm UK/11am Eastern Thursday 17th March. It's called Cities Skyline, which has previously been given away. If you missed it last time, this will be an opportunity to grab one of the best city builders around; sadly we don't get any of the 37 DLC's apart from a few free ones (Carols, Candles and Candy, Match Day and Pearls from the East). I'm assuming those will be free like they are over on Steam.

Also available free via Epic is the just released Ghostwire: Tokyo - Prelude (Experience the mysterious events leading into Tango Gameworks’ highly anticipated action-adventure game, Ghostwire: Tokyo! In Ghostwire: Tokyo – Prelude, join the mysterious KK and his gang of supernatural detectives as they investigate an unusual disappearance, only to stumble upon something even more sinister. Build relationships with your team and piece together their stories in this visual novel adventure before taking to the streets of Ghostwire: Tokyo, releasing March 25). Next week we get In Sound Mind - (an imaginative first-person psychological horror with frenetic puzzles, unique boss fights, and original music by The Living Tombstone. Journey within the inner workings of the one place you can’t seem to escape—your own mind.)
The best Indie Bundles sites that have been operating from around 2010 are the Humble Bundle and Indie Gala sites (though the latter isn't as good as it used to be) where you'll sometimes find decent bundles with over 90% off the usual price of the games included in the bundles. The Humble site is in my opinion the best; though a more recent addition that is worth checking out called Fanatical games looks to be a serious contender for that title as they have some very good bundles. You can find Fanatical games (that used to be called Bundle Stars) HERE.

I've restarted a project I originally started back in 2008 that used to be called Good Games to Grab, where I posted free games over in the forums on a daily basis. I won't be posting them daily this time; only as and when I have time and the inclination. You can find the new forum section entitled 'Free Game Project' HERE. So far, I've posted eight excellent PC games, plus one android game as well as suggested or linked to others similar to the ones posted. I'll be adding more as and when I have the time or the mood takes me over the coming months.

Black And White Apocalypse that was given away early s last month by the developer Hammergames is always free and can also be downloaded as a colour version. You can find both versions over on itch.io via the following links Black & White version, and Coloured version. :)
Hammergames also offer other games they have created free HERE. Some of them look like they are worth investigating. :)

The next Humble Choice bundle went live (Tue 1st March)); it includes seven Steam games and one Origin game. Desperados III, Mass Effect Legendary Edition (Origin), Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, Red Solstice 2: Survivors, Nebuchadnezzar, Police Stories and Evan's Remains. Subscriptions to the Choice bundle have recently been changed, levelling the ground for all subscribers. The monthly cost is a meagre $12/£8.99 with other benefits such as access to a lot of indie titles for free while subscribed and a percentage off other purchases from the Humble store. This increases the longer you keep subscribed up to a year with 20% off all none bundle purchases. (1 month sub' gives 10% off, 3 months sub' gives 15% off and six months sub 'gives 17% off). The next Humble Choice bundle goes live Tuesday 5th April 22.

The latest Humble Bundles are Humble Heroines (ends 23rd March), Overwhelmingly Positive Gems (ends 11th March), a VR bundle called VR Discovery Bundle (ends 11th March), HERE that includes eight excellent Doom like games (ends 25th March).

If you are a removed game collector Gods Remastered a classic platformer from the early 90's that includes both the original and the remastered is being removed from Steam on the 27th March due to licencing issues. It's on sale with 90% off HERE

If you have Amazon Prime you also get access to a new set of free games every month. The March freebies include an Origin code for 'Madden NFL 22', and 'Surviving Mars' on Epic Games (this has been given away twice via Epic a few years ago on the 10th October 2019 together with a couple of the DLC and again on the 11th March last year; if you missed it both times here's your chance to grab the base game again). There are also some downloadable games and a whole bunch of in game content for lots of big name games like League of Legends, GTA V, Red Dead Online, Dead by Daylight, Destiny 2, Battlefield 2042 and loads more. Visit Prime Gaming for details.

Stay safe everyone.

Whiterabbit-uk, not necessarily for public posting, I believe because of the current sanctions against Russia, many regular software contributors are afraid of legal consequences if they supply anything to anyone in Russia. Or they could be afraid of public backlash, or even in today's world, some might mistakenly believe all Russians are somehow evil. Reality is that with the Kremlin controlling the media & arresting anyone who speaks out, most are unaware of what's happening in Ukraine, while those that are aware are almost all opposed, at least according to journalists that were or are on the ground in Russia.

Whiterabbit-uk, Thank you for you detailed reviews. Is there some delay lately ? It is 10:30 pm on the East coast of The USA, and I am just now receiving the email of this offer. I see it was offered YESTERDAY. Far to late for me to get this. Many times this has happened.

Starz,

Hi Starz, I really don't know anything. Whether it's to do with the present situation in Eastern Europe. It's odd that both MyPlayCity and TooMky games have stopped at the same time. We usually get at least one game from both of them each weekend. As yet there are no other games from these two distributors in the listings. If there is going to be an issue, I'm sure the giveaway team will announce something.

It's good to receive notification for a game that was given away TWO DAYS AGO ... Not!

Mick,

Personally I've never relied on the emails. It's just as quick to visit the site to see if ther eis a game available.
In the UK games usually go live at 8am (9am in the summer).

Whiterabbit-uk, Thank you, sir, but I've learnt this, by bitter experience, over the last several months. Unfortunately, I don't always think to check. ;-)

WR it's good to see you. I'm super confused as last weekend there was NO game at all, just an old expired one from a few days before, and no explanation why the usual weekend giveaway was gone. So I worried something happened to you! And while I'm glad to see you here, more confusion as this is not the type of game we usually get on the weekend (i.e. Toomky and MPC). Something is definitely different, but it looks like they haven't told you, either, which I find even weirder! I tried messaging on Facebook to the GGOTD site there, but no answer. Keep us posted! Passing on this one as it seems extremely hard to see and not a genre I like. But fingers crossed for more HOG/adventure and puzzle games!

p.s. Entschuldigung für die schlechte Übersetzung.

Whiterabbit-uk, It's easier to blame the developer than to read the description of the game, where it says that you need to turn on the flashlight.

Skriem,

Hi Skriem,

d3dx11_43.dll is part of Mircrosoft's Direct X, which comes packaged with Windows. You could try downloading it from Microsoft. Check out the FAQ's thread over in the Game Discussion sticky section, where it's explained in more detail.

Oskar Fischer,

Yes it seems really dark. I spent about 20 minutes thinking I need to find a torch at the very least; dying lots of times in the process. When I then read the brief instructions in the controls pressing F will switch on your torch. (I had tried by pressing T). With the torch on, the game starts to make more sense.
