Hi Stephen, you probably will not read this anymore, but I still like to reply. Do not worry about it. I definitely do not want you to go through the spam to look for my message. Worst scenario is that I wrote a message but did not send it somehow or it is a glitch in the system? I was just hoping that someone had come accros the problem and had a solution. Thank you for your comment. You are doing a great job as always.

Posting late, just in case anybody is interested in a partial review. I usually LOVE these "adventure" games and enjoyed the first one in this series, offered here recently, so I was eager to try this. Both the flakiness (reported by others above, including lockups) and the nature of the puzzles made this one a thumbs down for me, the first I've given to an adventure game here. While I'm pretty good at these, and usually only resort to walkthroughs or hints occasionally, for this game I had to constantly refer to the walkthrough on BigFish (also one on Gamezebo) to get through every location; almost nothing was instinctive or easily figured out. And honestly, I'm usually pretty bright at these things.
I love a challenge and don't mind a little nudge from a walkthrough when needed, but this just wasn't any fun at all. A big thumbs-down, and looking forward to the next adventure game to restore my ego :).

I was getting very frustrated with the game locking up everytime i went to another section, or trying to exit/save, etc. Since putting it into the win xp mode, it runs smooth as butter on hot toast! Muchos garcious.

Sarge,
Thanks for your suggestion about compatibility mode. It kept locking up for me before I could start the game proper (just after the long introduction) but it now starts ssmoothly. Thanks again

I love this game, but it crashes quite often in the beginning. We need to start 2 or 3 times and it is ok.
I play "casual mode" and I had trouble opening the safe. the code does not appear where it should according to the solution. So I used the code given in the walkthrough (729)... I had done the previous game and I'm happy to do that one. it is more playable ... but still requires precision with the timing click of the mouse ..
I would like to make a third if there is one day.

Message to those having trouble running this game. Although I have Windows 7, I tried compatibility mode for Windows 98/ME, & touch wood, at the present it seems to be working O.K. Worth a try.

OMG I nearly missed it. Downloaded fine with Win 8.1. There was a problem with reading the story as when it finished you were left waiting with a black screen. I just clicked on skip and away I went. Now to play but first ...the housework. Um, nah. LOL

Update - Still having difficulty getting into the game. Once I'm in, I can play. But four times out of five, it simply freezes before I can even get to the main menu page and Windows gives me the good ol' option to close out or wait it out. This also happens when I try to exit the game, and I never know if the game was actually saved or not, and it's too annoying to try and go back in just to find out. Game itself? Liked it better than the other one, but still has the annoying tendency to be finicky with reading placement of objects (yes, silly game, I PLACED the crowbar there FIVE TIMES already! Accept it already!!) But the glitchy-ness of the whole thing is just too bothersome.
One other REAL annoyance was trying to figure out the portal thingie with the potions, because if I clicked in juuuuust the wrong place, it shot me up to the roof and then I'd have to go all the way back down into the basement and start again. I must have done this a dozen times before I finally got the potion increment figured out (and that the WHITE potion lowered the increments) and by that time, I was ready to quit the darn game just because of that.
FYI, I tried changing compatibility modes and still had the same problems.
Bottom line? I'd LIKE to play it, but the glitch/freezing is making it really difficult and the little quirks of clicking in juuuuust the right place is far too annoying.

Downloaded and installed fine Win7/64.
Ran fine the first time.
Have tried three times since then and it stalls out.
Liked the first game, but it had a LOT of issues. It would stall out also, especially if I "skipped" past any cut-scenes. Objects from inventory were difficult to use: they had to be placed EXACTLY on the right spot or they wouldn't register as being used. Many times, I'd think that wasn't it and use a hint, only to be told that yes, that was exactly right, I just wasn't putting the object EXACTLY there. And sometimes it would take several tries to get it. Extremely frustrating and I hope that it isn't the same way with this second game... but so far, I haven't been able to get back into the game far enough to test it out.

For the people who can't run the game because it locks up, like me, try this.
Right click on the game icon. Select properties, then compatibility. Check the box that says "run this program in compatibility for XP (service pack 3)" mode.
This did the trick for me. I just can't get it to run full screen. :^\ (I have a wide monitor) Seems to run only in 4:3 for the older type monitors. Pahelika Secret Legends filled the entire screen.

I ran it in Windows 10 and the full screen mode didn't display the whole screen. It seemed to be off-centered. I had to run it windowed to play it.
I also found the image dark and some of the objects quite small to see.

Installed and runs fine on my archaic Vista 32 system, with one exception - when I quit the game it locks up on the final menu screen with that heinous windoze message "The instruction at xxxx referenced memory at xxxx. The memory could not be "read".".
Graphics and sound are good, but many scenes become a "pixel search" as you scan for what to do next, and the puzzles are often not very intuitive so you will probably end up referring to one of the walkthroughs at some point.

Downloaded fast and installed without a problem on Win 8.1.

Hello,
I've played & successfully completed Pahelika: Secret Legends when it was offered here not long ago without issues. I've downloaded & launched Pahelika: Revelations and it was going well until I hit a snag - first a mention on the cut scenes, when they finished - nothing happened, I had to click on "skip" to continue, no big deal, however I completed a section, after meeting the sage, going through the cut scene & clicking 'skip' to continue - it shows the loading bar but then it hangs up. I exited the game, launched it again, hit play & it picked up where I left off - at the cut scene, same problem occurred again - it hangs up while trying to load the next 'chapter' and I have to exit.

Love point-n-click adventure games! After it installed, it put a shortcut on my desktop. Started playing & it crashed after the video. Hmmm....I deleted that shortcut & made my own & I've been playing it with no problems for 45 minutes. I have Windows 7, Home Edition, 64-bit. Maybe making my own shortcut means nothing but all I know is it is working now. Thanks for this game! :-)

Ok Windows 8.1.3 x64 Pro but had to use Compatiblity mode (as Admin for insurance). Otherwise loads but freezes at first page where Skip word appears.
Game auto stores as goes along. Says saves when finish a level, but had a crash as my background timer kicked in. Game did pick up where I was when reran.
Plays nicely so far, casual, used couple hints. Fun puzzles to go with it.
My initial look at GOTD pictures turned me off given the large # of Find Items listed like 10 12 of things. Haven't gotten that deep into it yet. Not a fan of searching out tiny bits. So far I'd say 8.5/10 graphics/play and thanks GOTD for reviews & comments that made me bother to try game.

I had no installation problems at all, and fortunately it uninstalls just as easily because this game is awful. I was hoping it would be better than the last Pahelika game but it was drearily similar. It's as if the developers had the talent to create a great game but couldn't care less, which is a shame because Playrix has some really good games. Whiterabbit sums up the game's shortcoming well enough in his conclusion, as do some other commentors, so I won't flog this dead horse. But I just wanted to add my downvote for a game that could have been a lot better. This isn't fun. It's tedious and frustrating.

I will give "Revelations" a try; I was really looking forward to playing "Secret Legends", but I could never get it to display properly. I fiddled with it and fiddled with it; the "Intro" screen/scene came up fine, and I eventually got to play the first screen/scene of the game, but the next scene with the big tree was all lines and I could never get it to display properly. It does not allow you to change display settings in the game, only during installation; I think I could have gotten it to work properly if I had the installer, but by the time I got that far the giveaway was over and the installer was void. I was really looking forward to playing "Secret Legends". Lets see if I can get "Revelations" to display properly.

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and Revelations runs perfectly well. I'm so pleased that I've got it from GAOTD as I've been playing it from somewhere else, but always been concerned that I might lose it for some reason.
IMO, this is one of the most challenging games I have ever played. I'm a big fan of HOPA style games rather than ones that require quick reflexes as I have some difficulties with hands and co-ordination. Revelations requires a good deal of lateral thinking and puzzling out - again IMO the fact that various items sparkle for no particular reason except that they are of interest isn't a failure: it simply draws attention to the detail of the scenery. The graphics are lovely - OK, some of them are dark, but that's part of the fun. The story is fascinating and fantastical as are the various characters and places that you visit. Re another adverse comment in the Gamezebo review, I don't find that going back through the statues' questions is any more a problem than going back to the beginning of a "Simon says" minigame if you get a sequence wrong!
I'm committed to getting to the end of this game somehow or other, without using a walkthrough. Goodness only knows how long it'll take me - but what a fantastic feeling of achievement it will be when I do!!!

Windows 7: This crashes over and over unless it's in windowed mode, then it's too small to see much.
I struggled to get even to the beginning. There's a snowman. I had to use the help button to find that there's a stone to put in front of the heater. Then there's a particular order in placing things on the snowman. Why? Why do I have to put in the eyes before the nose, etc.? That is purely arbitrary. Reason doesn't help, only trial and error works.
Then, using the help button, I found something with a combination. I clicked everywhere and found no hint of a combination. I had to skip it.
So far, I am very much not impressed. The logic is arbitrary. The help button takes forever to recharge. There are no hints online to get past the first challenge (snowman). Cutscenes can't be skipped all at once, they can only be skipped frame by frame.
I'm going to try again. I had to stop to vent because of bad frustration.

Good Morning!
Once again, thanks WhiteRabbit and Team for a great game! Installed just fine on my Win 7 machine - last week's game installed perfectly as well. I've only partly completed the Pahelika: Secret Legends game and opened this one to try it out, so I can report no trouble opening and playing either one. I am a huge fan of games like these. With lots of tricky puzzles, they're interesting & challenging. And, both Pahelika games are ones that my husband & I can sit together and play - we both have different strengths when it comes to puzzles, so we switch out when we get to something the other is better at. Plus, exploring and clicking around is more fun with two. I hope those that are having issues with d/l or playing are able to solve them, because I'd hate anyone to miss out. Thanks again!! :)

"First off the game is not $9.99. You can visit the publisher’s web site and see this…. “Only $2.99 – use coupon NEW299″"
Unfortunately you can only do that once per account. You can have more than one account, & in my experience the games all wind up in the same BigFish Game Mgr. app.
"Of course it does not matter as I am one of those that suffer from the “failed to connect. please try again later” error."
*If* you wanted to bother, you *might* consider adding a copy of the win10 preview in a VM. Everything's free, it would give you the chance to explore 10, & unless the problem's downstream from your PC or laptop, might provide an easy answer, as the games on GOTD typically can be copied wherever you want.

Downloaded and installed just fine but I can't get it to run. It took 4 tries to get it to run (win 8.1) and it keeps stopping and I have to stop the game. This has happened multiple times. I have been able to play a little of it before it crashes. Looks like it would be fun. :-) I don't remember having trouble with any games from here before but then again I don't download them all. This is a new machine and not loaded with a bunch of stuff. I'll try rebooting and see what happens.

I like this game and the previous Pahelika game very much. For me they are rare gems - casual adventure games which offer a challenge. I find them engaging, interesting and enjoyable. I love their artwork too. Old school games FTW! (My only complaint is that someone at Ironcode didn't spell-check their game installer. They've doubled the R in Revelations. Tch.)
Thanks very much to Playrix and GGOTD for another great game, and to Stephen for his comprehensive review and abundance of other game-related info.
Note: This game works fine on Windows XP - which won't console the rest of you running 7/8/8.1, and I'm sorry about that. When my PC dies, I'll move to Windows 10 or later, or possibly Linux. I dislike Windows 8 and 8.1 more than I can possibly say.

Make sure your video card driver is updated to the latest version. That can sometimes cause a screen to be scrambled.

@dadams: Is it possible you have some kind of parental control or similar ‘filter’ on your Internet connection, or which is on-by-default at your ISP, which is preventing you from connecting? Or are you maybe trying to connect on a computer in an office, where there may be similar filtering applied company-wide by the IT department?
Also, has GGOTS download site somehow got itself into a 'blacklist' or 'block list' in your browser, anti-virus, or firewall? It might be worth 'whitelisting' (= 'always allow this site') the GGOTD download site address just to make sure.
Sorry to hear about your connection problems, and I hope the above gives you some clues and ideas about possible causes you may have overlooked! Good luck!

Unfortunately the game starts in a very strange screen resolution. I can see the half the game on my screen, but can't reach the options button. Because I don't want to change my screen resolutions every time I want to play the game I uninstalled it (twice, because the first time I thought there was something wrong with the download).
First Pahelika game I couldn't finish. I got stuck somewhere in the game and didn't get any clous anymore. The walkthroughs on YouTube were a bit too much for me.
Oh well, I don't really have the time to play anyway at the moment. Places to go, things to do...

As with the first game, I have the same problems as with this game. I posted this, but could not find my comment again, so did not get a solution. It downloads and installs fine and the intro plays fine, but when I actually want to play the level, the image is partly scrambled. I upped the resolution and could play the first part, but when I got to the tower, the image was totally scrambled. With the first game, changing the resolution did not help at all. Although these seem like nice games, I cannot play them on my computer. It is a shame, because I've never had problems with Playrix games before. I find it a bit cumbersome to have to change the resolution every time you like to play a game, so I will give this one a miss. Thanks anyway for the game. I still have some HOGs I have to finish, so I am not too disappointed.

Already thought it was my brain not working properly, most of the time I've got no idea what to look for, the hint button isn't very helpfull either. When you have to use the crowbar you really have to put it on the spot the developers had in mind, a little bit out and it seems that you don't need that item there. It happened to me a few times, for example to break open a drawer; the hint button told me I had to use the crowbar and it took me about 20 tries ;)
Gonna pass on this one I think and just delete it again.

First off the game is not $9.99. You can visit the publisher's web site and see this.... "Only $2.99 - use coupon NEW299". As the moderator pointed out in the review he posted this is not an HOG. It is an adventure game. The puzzles can be tough and offer no hints. I like a challenge but I also like a little help when I need it.
Of course it does not matter as I am one of those that suffer from the "failed to connect. please try again later" error. I appreciate the advice from the moderator and it would be nice if it was that easy to cure. However I have tried both suggestions and neither one help me. I don't mean this to belittle your efforts. You do a great job at presenting your reviews and moderating comments. At least you don't edit and censor comments like they do on the other side here. I just want to point out that not everyone is cured by these suggestions. I will keep trying and IF I come up with a solution I will post it. Thank you GGOTD team, the moderator, and Playrix Entertainment.

Pahelika: Revelations
In Brief:
Pahelika: Revelations is a first person fantasy adventure, with exploration and puzzle solving being the main focus of the game.
Installation:
The zip file once downloaded should be 232 MB in size and when installed to the default path mentioned below is
MB in size. Installation is a breeze; the unzipped setup file installs the game to the following path:
Once installed you can delete the wrapped setup file (for those that are new to the giveaway project that's the orange colored file with a key symbol on the icon; you can also delete the Setup.gcd security file and the read me document.
There is no desktop icon created during installation so you will have to create your own via the above path or via which ever path you choose for yourself. If you also want a start menu shortcut you will have to go into Documents and Settings which is found in the root directory (C:\).
i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\name\Start Menu\Programs\ (XP) or C:\Users\(User-Name)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ (Win 7 & 8 and Vista)
Where 'name' equals administrator, or whatever name you use for your account. Just create a new folder within the program folder and add a shortcut from the games executable file. (right click and select create shortcut then copy that to the folder you've just created - you can also use the same shortcut and copy it to the desktop or select send to desktop {create shortcut}).
There is no music folder inside the main game folder, so there's no way of changing the music directly. You can turn off the music via the options menu, then play your own music via a media player if you wish.
Some community members may have problems installing the game due to the Themida based security included with the download. Norton is one AV suite that seems to tag the file as suspicious and tends to delete the file, which will then throw up one of several error messages. If this problem does arise, there are two ways around it (or three if you decide not to install the game):
I’d try for the first option first. If you aren’t sure how to configure the antimalware suite, either read the programs help files or Google how to do it, then and only then as a last resort go for turning your security off temporarily; however, if you do choose that option, you do so at your own risk. (Just to allay any fears that you may get infected installing a game giveaway with no security turned on). The giveaway team have given away well over a thousand games since the inception of the game giveaway project back in Decenber 2006 and no game has ever been infected with malware. The giveaway team check all downloads throughly using several malware suites to ensure the files are clean.
Pahelika: Revelations should work on all iterations of Windows from Win XP onwards, though I've not personally tested it on XP or Vista.
Introduction:
Reference: accessed HERE 16th May 2015
You'll find walkthroughs of the game over at Big Fish Games HERE or Gamezebo HERE
The Game:
The Golden Age of adventure games is long past, but those of us who love them keep searching for games made in that old-school style. Ironcode Gaming’s Pahelika: Revelations is one such game, which in an era dominated by social, casual and “lite adventure,” is both good and bad. On one hand, it offers a deeper story and more challenging puzzles than those other genres; on the other, its high skill expectation takes it beyond the reach of many of today’s new gamers.
Pahelika: Revelations continues the story begun in Pahelika: Secret Legends, a story revolving around a “mighty puzzle book” called Pahelika. The sequel begins with Sudesh having nightmares about the book and once again, digging around in his famous ancestor’s dusty junk. While most grandparents’ storage rooms hold old papers and mothball-eaten sweaters, Sudesh finds a secret room and a magical stash. (Then again, most grandparents aren’t “Gogra The Invisible.”)
This discovery sends Sudesh on a quest to stop the evil wizard Krur Jalaal before he gains control of the world’s magic and…does bad things. The game’s intricately written story is definitely enough to pique anyone’s interest and its 2D comic-book intro cinematic and voice acting are fairly well done. The game’s 3D graphics are done in a simple, somber, realistic style reminiscent of the adventure games of the ’90s, which gives the game a more serious tone than most casual adventure games. More significantly, the game’s mechanics hearken back to an earlier time when games were less inclined to give players a helping hand. Quite simply, Pahelika: Revelations is much more challenging than most casual gamers are ready for.
Ironcode makes the controversial decision not to include any form of hint or puzzle-bypass system in the game and asks players to go online in order to access the strategy guide. This flies in the face of current trends in adventure games (witness titles by Telltale Games, the current gold standard in old-school-style adventure gaming) which dictates that games provide players with an “out”– a way to proceed if they get stuck on something. Sure, in the old days, if you couldn’t solve a puzzle you admitted defeat and just stopped playing. In today’s gaming climate however, that’s just not acceptable. With so many games competing for the gamer’s dollar, where’s the wisdom in creating a title that excludes a good chunk of players?

System Requirements:
Windows XP/ Vista/ 7/ 8
CPU: 1.0 GHz
RAM: 512 MB
DirectX: 7.0
Hard Drive: 236 MB
Conclusion:
Anyway, Pahelika: Revelations has some good things going for it but ultimately becomes a frustrating experience for various reasons. The game features a “Casual” mode that simplifies some of the puzzles but is still definitely not casual. And instead of offering solutions to the toughest puzzles, the online walkthrough tells you un-helpfully to “solve the puzzle”. In addition to this, Casual mode confuses the issue of what is and is not interactive by putting sparkles on “interesting” items. Not items that you can necessarily do anything with – just items of interest. This strange addition to the interface serves just as often to cause confusion as to help you and further, will have you revisiting areas repeatedly, where there’s nothing more to do.
Other problems with the game come from the monochromatic environments and dim lighting which often make it difficult to see the items you need to collect. There’s also far too much pixel-hunting in these gloomy environments as chests are hidden in darkened rafters and tools are almost buried in rubble. The result is, you’re likely to find yourself consulting the online walkthrough far more often than you’d like, or should really have to. Here and there too, tedium is downright built in (as when you’re forced to repeatedly go through the same dialog with seven statue heads every time you fail a riddle puzzle).
Pahelika: Revelations has the potential to be a strong adventure game and for the small percentage of players who can actually complete it, it might be. The problem is, its high difficulty, confusing interface and utter lack of bypass system undermines the good stuff by preventing all but the most determined players from finding out.
Problems:
If you have any problems installing or getting Pahelika: Revelations to work please go HERE for help. I've posted most of the common problems and solutions in a FAQ thread, which you can find in the sticky section of the forums by following the above link.
If you are posting late in the day I would also suggest posting in the main giveaway forums, in the game discussion section because I cannot moderate 24hrs a day over the weekend. I've created a thread HERE for that purpose. If you've installed the game but it won’t work for some reason, it should still be registered, so someone may be able to help at another time. Unfortunately if your problem is actually installing it then once the giveaway period is over there’s nothing that can be done until the game is given away again (though that isn't guaranteed). Sometimes you can still register the game after the giveaway has ended so long as you managed to start the download before the giveaway ends. I've tested this and the grace period lasts for up to 1 hour.
It’s always worth checking out the free games sites because sometimes the games we get here are also available for free from them. MyPlayCity (MPC) has the most with over 1000 games to choose from. Other sites include Gametop and FreeGamePick. Pahelika: Revelations doesn't seem to be available from any of the known free game sites.
If you do download any games from MyPlayCity, Gametop or the other free game sites 'do' watch out for toolbars etc. Make sure you un-check the check-boxes during installation, and, in the case of MyPlayCity, every time you boot the game up, (this may have changed now as these free game sites tend to change the format frequently. .. I've posted links to all of the common free game sites below in the games, games games section. :)http://steamcommunity.com/app/263200
For now I won't be recommending you download games from Jenkat Games. They have changed the way you get games from their site. Diane has posted information about this over in the game discussion forums. If I have time or remember, I'll link to it. Cab Lady/Lady Lei doesn't recommend TooMyk Games due to malware warnings.

If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles (there's over 20 of them - If you purchased all of them you'd be paying around $80 for around a thousand dollars worth of games); or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand. you'll find the indie bundles thread HERE. The thread is outdated, but all of the links will still take you to the latest bundles.
The latest IndieGameStand game is called Unrest:
Set in a fantasy interpretation of ancient India, Unrest is an adventure RPG focused on story and choices. Play as five ordinary people who are struggling to get by in the famine-stricken city-state of Bhimra.
Brave poverty, disease, treason, political and social upheaval. Face unique burdens and gripping dilemmas as you struggle to survive in each chapter...but choices made to help one character may well make life harder for another.
In Unrest, there are no heroes of legend, there is no mystical quest, and fate has not chosen you.
You're on your own.
PLUS, if you pay over the average, which at the time of writing was $1.43 you will also the adventure game 'The 39 Steps. both games come with Steam keys as well as a drm free download. The deal ends Monday 18th May 15 5am (GMT)
The latest Daily Indie game is Evil Pumpkin: The Lost Halloween
Features:
- Adventure and Casual mode, option to choose between point-and-click and hidden-object game
- 10+ hours of gameplay
- 6 chapters
- Double inventory contains 3 types of objects: regular everyday stuff, the interactive objects which can be modified, and the Giztruments, tools that can be upgraded
- RPG elements
- Challenging puzzles/mini-games
- Ludicrous comments
- Imaginative characters
- Unlockable achievements
- Special collectable candies
- Backyard enhancement project: side-quest, option to use candies and purchase Backyard elements
You can get two keys if you pay more than the average of $1.03 (athte time of writing). One key to share with a friend or family member perhaps? You'll find that deal HERE. They also have four bundles of several games that'll cost you less than $1.50 each HERE (DIG Bundles 27, 28 & 29 {only just added a few days ago} plus Desura bundle 4). You get Steam keys for all of these games apart from the Desura bundle. Though some of the games in the Desura bundle are on Valves Greenlight project and should get Steam keys if Greenlit. The single game deal ends Midnight tonight (Sat 9th May) and will be replaced with a game called Biology Battle a space-shooter, where you take the role of a medical nanobot and embark on a journey into the depths of a biological cell. Evade the defense tactics of the other cells and try to survive for as long as possible.
Most of the other bundles retail for around $5 give or take a few dollars (apart from the Daily Indie bundles that only cost $1.49 for six games), but you can pay as little as a dollar for some. There are some excellent bundles out at the moment. Check out the following:

This game was included in one of the Indie Game Bundles last year. Cabn't remeber whether it was one of the Indie Royale or Groupees greenlight bundles. It#s now also available on steam.
