Operation Return Gifts:

In Brief:
Operation Return Gifts is a short and simple side scrolling platformer that was created several years ago. Pick up the presents dropped by Santa avoiding the wandering cuddly looking enemies that I presume are meant to represent white rabbits and later, penguins, abominable snowmen, and ghosts (that float). there are also stationary snowmen that appear to be harmless even if you touch them. You can destroy all these enemies, including the snowmen by jumping on them. Also avoid falling down the pits. You'll lose one of your four lives if you are touched by any one of the enemies or fall off a platform. If you lose all four lives you will be taken to the main menu where you can continue where you left off (at the beginning of the level), but only with one life.

Once you've collected all of the dropped gifts on a level, walk to one of Santa's elves, who thanks you, then you automatically move on to the next level which has more gifts to collect. Each successive level becomes a little harder, with new enemies introduced. There are only five levels with 15, 23, 21, 23 and 18 presents respectively to pick up, totalling 100 presents dropped by Santa and then recovered by Candy. At the end of the fifth level, you meet all five elves before being taken back to the main menu.

The game defaults to a small window; (it fills approximately a sixth of my monitor when set at 1920x1080). In the top right corner is a bell icon which toggles the games music on and off or you use the M key. The music is a short 1-minute double loop that lasts two minutes (approximately) of a Christmas themed instrumental.

Conclusion:
Operation Return Gifts is a very simple platformer with little to distinguish between each level environment wise; still, it's playable and beatable relatively quickly. You can easily complete this game in less than ten minutes, especially if you are adept at playing platformers.

The game relies on jumping from some platforms at the correct point otherwise you will fall into the depth and lose a life. Also avoid touching the various enemies unless you're jumping on them. This would probably enthral a young child of around 5 or 6/7 as even the enemies are cute looking. As with many of these short games, it's not something I'd play for an extended period.
