Oil Baron was available as a giveaway on November 22, 2019!
The game has 7 locations with special tasks. You must fulfill them until the end of the day. It can be used to collect N amount of oil or earn several thousand $.
To start playing, you need to choose the complexity of the game.
There are 5 difficulty levels (easy-normal-difficult-very complicated-insane). It is recommend to put it on easy or normal to start. After selecting the difficulty, you are moved to the location selection.
At each of the locations there is a different atmosphere. When you hit the location you are given the opportunity to look around, after which you can hire a geologist for $ 200, which shows the approximate location of the oil.
Or you can manually guess the source. At light levels of complexity, oil is often seen on the surface, so the complexity within the search is minimized.
Buy an oil rig for $ 1000, and immediately after you can buy an oil storage tank. After installing the tank, you choose the depth of the well. The deeper, the more money you need to spend. You can be lucky and get an oil, but you if missed a bit - you can hit the edge of the source. Every second the oil source becomes smaller, and as a result, the oil rig stops working. At this point the game is not FINISHED. You can sell the current tower for $ 400 together with the tank and set a NEW one. You can buy an unlimited number of towers, but at one location there can't be no more ONE. After the tank has the right amount of oil you put it in a bucket and carry it for sale. Do not put the tower too far from the market. Time is important here. The rate can random pop up between 0.20 $ / 1 unit of oil (in one bucket without pumping 15 units of oil). Wait for a better course ($ 3-4) and then sell. For each oil sale you get 15 units of experience, when you reach the right amount, you level-up. You get improvements for each level. You spend them on a bunch buns that improve the gameplay and make it more dynamic, everything happens faster.

delenn13,
Thanks Delenn for the heads up, been a little remiss at checking recently due to life being manic. hope hubby is fully recovered?
I posted a comment over at Chrono re: the Sci Fi book for children thread. Though my name is a weird jumble of letters. Don't know how that happened?

Anon,
Hi Anon, Try clicking on the Exit button in the top right hand corner. That should take you to the actual game. I thought the game was frozen initially, but when i clicked on the exit button it took me to the beginning of the first level.

Hi S. / Whiterabbit-uk,
Thank you very much for being so kind as to offer me your advice / tip.
However , I have tried the game maybe 5 times and it leaves me stranded at same spot every time....
I have tried everything including frantic clicking on everything in sight including the 'exit button' , but the only thing is the close the game window top right X - which shuts down the game..

Anon,
Hi again, :)
When I boot up the game I initially get a short introduction/tutorial where you have to click on the screen to proceed to the next stage. Once the tutorial scree has finished you should be left with the first image below. If I click anywhere on the screen it appears that the game is frozen. To actually start the actual game play you need to press the enter key on your keyboard. This will then open up the difficulty selection screen as in the second image below. Once you've selected the difficulty and pressed the button, the game will automatically start. There is a clock indicator along the top that will slowly move indicating that the game is ready to go.
If the above doesn't work; have you tried going into compatibility mode and changing some of the parameters. For example make sure the admin check box is ticked and try changing the screen resolution as it may be the monitor resolution you are using isn't native to the game so collision mesh positions may not line up.
Also, check the FAQ's thread over in the Game Discussion forums sticky section.
I hope one of the above fixes the issue?

S. / Whiterabbit-uk,
Yes that helped (using enter key) , thank you very much.
I am sitting here feeling a little stupid for not going crazy on the keyboard as well rather than just clicking...
I am really not going to become good friends with the interface of this game (or the lack of help for it) any time soon...
Thank you very much for the assistance :-)

Anon,
It's easy enough to do, I've done the same thing. :) Personally I think this game has been copied from a similar game called Turmoil, which has better graphics and more diverse game play. Thanks for letting me know it worked. :)

Whiterabbit-uk, /S.
Yes S. , you are absolutely right, Oil Baron looks like a knock off of Turmoil, I couldn't remember Turmoil myself so I were initially very confused over Oil Baron because I could remember having seen Turmoil but thought that Oil Baron were Turmoil.
Anyway , I will get a copy of Turmoil myself instead since it is available on both GOG and Steam - were I though on the friends list of a certain 'Brit' still do not have Turmoil ;-) :-D
