I'm getting more and more fond of these Wheemplay physics games -- I download them onto a thumb drive which I carry with me; because they're fast-loading, you can play during a wait time, or keep someone else busy and out of your hair for a while ;-). This one is cheerful for the kids, too.

Thanks, Wheemplay, GGOTD, and Whiterabbit!

They are good for the odd few minutes here and there. Some are quite basic, but on the whole I think they are pretty decent as well. I just wish there were more levels or at least a levels editor. :)

Absolute rubbish. Just can't be bothered with working out how to do the various bits and pieces. Maybe I lack patience but it's not for me.

Took me 20 minutes. Had trouble with levels 21 & 25. :)
Great game but needs twice the levels.

Also installed this the last time it was offered here. Very nice physics game. Thanks to all. Needs a level editor and some way of sharing the resulting levels to really improve it. I would love to see a longer and more challenging physics based game some time.

Smooth Win 8 x64 Pro in partial full screen. Can shut off music. Did easy first 10 levels. Prob does need 50 levels and/or level maker. Just a little time passer for adults but sure ok for little ones to teach basics of If This, Then That in place of sheer reflex action.
And Whiterabbit has price as 0.99 whereas description box $1.99
Guess being the mod rates a discount? lol Happy Daddy's Day.

.........................Moderator Comment....................

Hmmm, they've increased the price. I used my previous review with some area's updated, didn't realize they had upped the price of their games.

We had this from before but lost it when I got a new computer. My grandson - now 8 - loved it. It teaches elementary physics and problem solving while being entertaining enough to engage a child with severe ADHD. I recommend it and appreciate the chance to get it back!!!

Well, what can I say? The game itself is nice, I liked it, but it is really too short. If it had been twice as long, I would have called it great for its price. But just twenty five so short levels are great only for free.

Thank you Wheemplay and GGOTD for this. Sometimes I need something to pass the time that is not stressful. This is a fun way to do it. My thanks to everyone who takes their time to create these games and then allow us to have them for free.

Stephen said about 10 minutes , I wanted to see how well I could do. 11 minutes and 22 seconds to finish all 25 levels. would have been less but I had problems with level 25 , just couldn't get the last candy into the funnel.

I Still have this from the last time but will download it and install over the original files incase some things have been updated since it was last released.

a big Thank you from me to Wheemplay, GGOTD and to you whiterabbit for all that you do.

These games offer some escape from being house bound and a real pleasure to play even the simple ones like this.

If they added a level editor and another 25 to 50 levels this game could be a bit more fun as it is it is finished far to soon and far to easily. though some of the later levels make oyu think a bit even then you can still complete most levels in under 30 seconds.

Graphics 7

Colours 6

Sound/music 4
it's repetive & annoying it's better to just play your own

replayability 3
once you've completed the levels it's not really worth replaying this one not unless you want to try and get better times.

Over all game play total is a 6.
While this is not one of Wheemplays best games it is also not one of their worst. The Kids will like it for a while but they will soon grow bored with it. I know I did. But I still keep it and replay the levels from time to time trying to improve on my previous time score.

Thank you Jo Hu, nice to see someone commenting positively for a wheemplay game.

To all community members. don't let the fact that this is a Wheemplay game put you off playing this game. It is better than the average Wheemplay game (IMO). Please try to be objective when posting comments. Negative and positive comments are welcome so long as they are appropriate

Oh My Candy:

Oh My Candy downloads to a 19.5 MB zip file and unpacks to a wrapped setup file, a security file (setup.gcd) and a read me doc with the terms and conditions and instructions

The game installs to:

C:\Games

by default and is 10.7MB in size once unpacked, (smaller by 0.6MB from the previous time this was given away, but the initial Wheemplay intro has been removed. the actual version is the same i.e. v1.0.6). There is no shortcut installed nor any uninstaller. To delete just delete the installed executable. As with other Wheemplay games the game installs directly into the games folder with no folder of its own, but you can create one by adding Oh My Candy to the end of the installation path. A folder specific to the game will then be created.
i.e. C:\Games\Oh My Candy

I’ve not tested it on all of my computers. Most are offline at the moment awaiting various repairs or upgrades. It certainly works on my Win 7 and Win 8 platforms

The Game:

Here's another Wheemplay game for your consumption. Most Wheemplay games are physics based, this one is no exception.

The aim of 'Oh My Candy' is to move various candy pieces from one area of the arena using various tools to move the candy to a chubby hamster, who promptly eats the candy. There are various tasks to perform to enable candy to be moved to the hamster using various tools such as moving pencils matter transporters, barriers, blocks etc. some objects are movable others are fixed.

Your task is to figure out the quickest route to get the candy to the hamsters mouth. Each of the 25 + levels are timed. At the end of each level a stats screen appears with the level time you attained, the total accumulated time so far for the game as well as the best time scored for that level. To the bottom left hand corner of the game arena are two buttons, the first is the settings where you can adjust various parameters, the second is to turn off the music. I'm sure most of you will find the music rather annoying after the first few minutes. I'd recommend you turn on your media player in the background and play some soothing music that will help you to concentrate on the various puzzle presented to you instead of listening to the in-game music. To the bottom right of the game arena are two more buttons, the first is a pause button, the second a restart level button. In between the two sets of buttons is a hint button. (I've posted links to some video walkthroughs below). The game starts in windowed mode by default, but you can play in full screen by clicking on the button to the top right of the window.

The overall look and feel of the game is better than the usual Wheemplay fare. The graphics are cutesy carton in style and will probably appeal to the younger members of your families.

There are loads of flash sites that have this game where you can play the game for free via your browser any time. There's even a players pack with more levels, but this isn't available with this version of the game. You'll find the browser version on loads of free to play flash game sites such as Kongregate

Video Walkthrough's & Images:

You can see video walkthroughs for this game HERE, HERE and HERE

There are more, but once you've seen one they all seem similar. On average the walkthroughs posted on you tube take around 9 to 10 minutes to work through all 25 + levels. (probably practiced the games before they videoed the, so unless you are an expert puzzle solver, you should get more out of this game. I've uploaded images for most of the levels which you can see HERE as a slideshow.

Conclusion:
Actually 'Oh My Candy' is a better than average Wheemplay game, but IMO not worth the 0.99cents Wheemplay are asking because the 25 levels can be finished in les than 10 minutes. The game needs at least double the number of levels it has at present and if possible a levels editor would be an improvement so that users can create their own levels.

Personally I'd package this game with several other physics based Wheemplay games and sell it as a compendium of physics based puzzles.

I do think this would be a worthwhile addition to any families games library. Usefull tool to teach your children logical thinking. :)

Score:

Overall I'd give this game the following score:

Game play - 7
Graphics - 7
Music - 5
Replayability - 5
Originality - 5

Total = 29 out of 50 which equates to 5.8 out of 10

(not sure aboout this level as the level map says there's only 25 levels, yet this is numbered 27)

You'll find many more game deals from Gamersgate, Gamestop, and GOG; all of which you can find via the Didimatic site, which I've linked to above.

To be honest there are too many game deals around too list them all. Just visit the sites I recommend above and I'm sure you'll find something that suits you for a very decent price.

You can get a free arcade game via Alawar's game box, just click the free game tab. It changes approximately every month If that's not enough, check out the Game Discussion forums HERE for details of other games either free or on deals such as the Indie Game bundles or check out the four day sales at IndieGameStand.

The latest IndieGameStand game is Paranautical Activity, combines the classic FPS action of games like Doom and Quake, with the randomness and difficulty of modern roguelikes like Binding of Isaac and Spelunky. The graphics look like Minecraft. You'll also get a desura Key and, if you pay above the average which stands at just over $1.90 at the moment you'll get an extra map and the OST of the game. This game is also on Steams Greenlight list, so, if it gets greenlit, you will get a Steam key for free. You'll find the deal HERE. This deal ends on Mon 17th June around 4am GMT. I'll be posting more details about this game over in the game discussion forums just as soon as I've finished this review. :)

There's also indie bundles available over at Indiebundle.org. Each bundle has three games and costs $5 each for the basic bundle plus a few dollars more for extra games. Check the Indie bundles HERE

There's more Indie bundles available. you can find them via the Game Discussion forums. All bundles are excellent value for money :). For most of these bundles you need not pay more than $5 for several games that would usually cost you a lot more. You'll find links to all of these bundles in the Game discussion forums HERE

Similar Games to todays Gamegiveaway:

You can find loads of Hidden Object games for free over at MyPlayCity, and Gametop for example, Potion Bar (a previous giveaway), Jane Croft: The Baker Street Murder, hide and Secret, Spirit of Wandering, Natalie brooks: Secrets of Treasure house, Mystery of Unicorn Castle, Alices Magical Mahjong (yes this has hidden Object elements), Antique shop, Confectionary, Crossworlds – The flying city plus loads more.

however both sites do try to install toolbars and hijack your browser, but for MyPlayCity it is avoidable by making sure you uncheck the check-boxes when installing the games though I've not checked Gametop for some time as they had become quite aggressive the last time I tried. In the case of MyPlayCity games; every time you start the game those check-boxes will be presented to you, so make sure you uncheck them, otherwise you'll be the proud owner of a MyPlayCity/Ask tool bar and you'll have to fiddle around to change your browsers home page back to whatever you have it set to. MyPlayCity do have a fantastic choice of arcade games, so although those things are an annoyance, I think it's still worth the effort, especially if you can't afford to purchase the games.

You can find Gametop HERE and MyPlayCity HERE

A Request for help:

Developers rely on good feedback to improve their games. If you download this game please take some time once you’ve played it a while to leave some constructive feedback either positive or negative. The more constructive feedback we get, the more likely developers are going to give more games away. The giveaway site already has a very good standing with the search engines. Developers want their products out there on the WWW, this site has the potential to do that. The game giveaway project gives away on average between 9 to 17 thousand downloads for each game depending upon what genre and how obscure the game is. That’s a lot of homes these games are being downloaded into and a lot of 'potential' cash that’s being lost by the developers. If we get better games because of better feedback, the community are likely to continue to benefit from the generosity of the developers. Satisfied community members are then more likely to visit the home sites of those developers and purchase games that they may not have bothered with before they discovered the developer via the game giveaway site, thus giving the developers more incentives to give away even more decent games.

Please leave some feedback once you've checked the game out. It can be positive or negative, but please explain what your reasons were for the feedback you post. You could also leave suggestions for improving the game, for example, this game could do with more block types for the levels editor, add more power-ups, describing the ones you think would be suitable, add some mini games (which seem all the rage in some arcade games now) or enable the user to be able to change the in game music easily.

Thank you in advance to all those who take the time to post a constructive comment.

Regards

Whiterabbit aka Stephen
