No Safety is a top down shooter made with the free Construct 2 engine. It is set in the future following a nuclear war. Survive waves of maurauding survivors and zombies. Difficulty; medium to hard (depending on your previous experience of this type of game)

Brief Game Description:

A global nuclear war started in 2090 has decimated the world economy and the nuclear fallout has created mutants that are virtually unstoppable; crushing everything in their path. The army has been looted by survivors out to make a quick buck, so you have been tasked with protecting the latest army convoy of necessary supplies from marauding survivors and survive attacks by mutants.

Today's giveaway is a free standing version and not a Steam version. You move your character with the WASD keys and aim and shoot with the mouse and LMB. Each level gives you a different mission to complete. In level one your task is to protect the army supplies. don't let any enemies get to the supplies otherwise you lose the level.

If you have trouble running the game go into compatibility mode and select the previous version of windows and check the Admin box. I was able to boot up the game when it was initially installed, but once closed I wasn't able to open it up again. I ended up reinstalling the game and again it worked initially, but once closed then trying to reboot it wouldn't start up. However, I did find it running in the background via Task Manager. Shutting it down via Task Manager enables me to reboot, but the above has to be repeated each time I shut down.

There are various missions such as exploring the area, finding the enemy base and killing specific numbers of enemies. There are two parts, the second part is locked until you've completed all of the missions in part one. You can take several hits before losing your life. There is an indicator in the top right hand side of the game screen that tells you how many hot you can take, also a timer that counts down when you are in a survival level. On the top left is your ammo count and below that is the number of med kits; though I never found any in the first three levels of the game.

There are limited supplies of ammo on some of the levels, so you need to conserve it as much as possible by not shooting haphazardly, otherwise you won't survive. It only takes one hit to kill the marauding survivors, but I pumped over a hundred bullets into the zombies and non died.

Conclusion:

The game play is okay, however there are some issues, such as it doesn't appear to save your progress (I didn't complete the first part, only completing the first two missions and starting a third, it may save once you've completed the complete first section?) When clicking on the skip messages, it just blurs the message slightly and carries on until the message has been completed. When closing the game down, if you haven't rebooted your computer, the game wont start again becasue despite closing the game down via the exit button, the game is left running in the background. It took me a while to figure this out. I couldn't get it to restart so deleted the game and was unable to delete it which is when I discovered it was still running in the background. You have to close it down via Task Manager as well if you want to replay it , unless as mentioned above, you have rebooted your computer since last playing it.
