Thanks to everyone who has posted feedback today. A little pushed for time to reply to the comments posted overnight at this time, but very much appreciated. I've awarded more Steam keys to Mac, Linda and John aa.

I really like the game. Time management isn't my favorite genre of game but this game has been alot of fun to play. I am running Windows 10 and the game installed just fine. I had no issues at all. My virus software is BitDefender ; it has never interfered with any software game or otherwise on our computers. Back to the game, I did run into a small issue in gameplay around level 9 where you have some ghost fox type thief characters mining as your working. I had just continued to do as per the quest instructions to build the structures and didn't realize I didn't have the 200 gold to get my person out of the cave because I didn't have enough money and could not see why. My husband came in and replayed the level and explained the fox thieves dropped bags of gold. Duh- should have better attention to the instructions. Thank you for the game and all you do for us WhiteRabbit. I plan to finish the level on easy and then play it again on expert.

HI,

It looks like typical build and move along game. This one is faster than most, so would recommend for
young ones. The graphics are good. Story is known and run of the mill. So far and I played quite a bit, there is nothing new to make it really good, but I still liked it.
Thank you for another good game and have a good week,
Lee

Win10 64bit Home. I love these types of games. It did start of slow and then I worked out you needed to read everything they say. Played about 10 levels and everything loaded great. Thank you for this game.

The system requirements include XP. However, when installed on an XP SP3 system. It runs as slow as molasses in January. It is impossible to finish even the first level above third place. I ran the Christmas special version that was given away a few years ago, and it ran just fine. This one does not.

I'm enjoying the game. I seldom comment on games given away here because it takes a long time to find out I like a game enough to keep playing it. If you had a feedback page that stayed active for longer than the time the game is available for download, I'd contribute more feedback.

I played all three of this game series some time ago, and thoroughly enjoyed them -- my favourite TM sub-genre of quest-type game, where you don't get timed-out, and you can go back and replay any level for a better score if you want; though there's no reward for getting all-gold except for pride.

I did appreciate the humour-- even more so when our hero's sassy wife joins him and keeps him in line (in New Yankee #2, I think), and didn't encounter any glitches in the MyPlayCity downloads.

Time for me to replay this series! Thanks for the reminder.

Good luck to your son this week, Whiterabbit: you can both collapse in relief next weekend :-)

Installed ok on win7 64bit.

The graphics are enough for this type of game, must is a bit repetitive I could see myself turning it off. (could use some variation in music I think). I've played to level 14 so far I think by the time you get to this point you're familiar with the play style. Perhaps instead of a 1-40 level per level you might choose a point where you're player is told that they need to find the right path forward. Then there might be a split 2x or 3x directions to go have 4 or 5 levels in each path and be told there is no way forward if the wrong path was chosen etc. Give some variation.

Then I'd like to see levels where it is not possible to clear all paths so you have to look at say how much wood your going to need then pick the right bridge to repair to get to the next area of forest... So if you choose the wrong bridge to repair first you have to redo the level. Perhaps even have to chose which bridge to repair and in one area rescue the "lost maiden" or the "magic wand". Then based upon that choice maybe the next level is a little different the "lost maiden" gets you past something, or the wand is used to blast open a path... Give it a more rpg type feel where your accomplishment in a level modifies what you can do in a later level...

Just some ideas...

A nice little game to pass a few minutes with over a tea break - possibly not one you'd play for hours, but so far quite manageable. I'm not really organised enough myself to bother much with Time Management games, but this one seems easy and fun. And since I don't want games that tie you to your keyboard for hours or even weeks at a time, I think I'll keep it for a while, anyway.

Mind you . . . I might need to get some skin cream. That armour doesn't half chafe the back of your neck.

Ok Windows 10 x64 Pro. Usual sliders, decent screen size. Just did the first level which is short tutorial, wizard offers standards tip. Not a big fan of TM, resource collection but NY has a fast play style, big icons for wood, stone, etc. AND a cute whimsy attitude. Sort of Brit sense of humor seen in intro. I'll keep it and lightly play a few to see if worth the whole trip. Prob give a quick 8.25/10 just for ease of play and game mechanics. Thanks GOTD.

Downloaded and installed without problems, Win7/64.

It's a good, straight-ahead, pretty predictable time management game, at least through the first few levels. We'll see if it develops to be more interesting. But it's engaging and fun, so I'll keep it and play for a while. My suggestion for the devs is for more "pop" to the graphics; higher contrast and saturation in the colors. Would make for a more visually interesting experience, with less eye strain.

It's a keeper for me. Thanks to GGOTD, MPC, and Whiterabbit.

Hi, I can't install it... well, everytime I click on the zip file, it opens up the permission window (WIN 10 64bit), then the GGOTD window that asks for the Software informer installation, like the whole install was good. The game is nowhere to be found and Avast is not the problem, since it says that there are no problems with the .zip files.

Do you have any suggestions? It looks like a very nice game and I would have loved to try it :(
Thanks ^^

Ignore the software informer. I would still disable your security temporarily, or reboot in safe mode with networking then try and install the game. The giveaway team have been giving away games since Nov 2006 and there has never been a file infected with malware.

I LOVE THIS GAME!

First off, installs and runs fine on the nightmare called Win10 64 bit.

It’s one of the better TM games with a bit of a different story to it, one I found amusing, honestly. The graphics are good and it’s a high quality. I do have to say, though, that the one part calling the king a ‘strutting turkey cock’ (that’s in the version I bought, not sure if it changed in this version) gave me several juvenile chuckles :D I admit it! It’s rather fast paced and lots to keep you busy. It’s varied enough to keep you interested as well.

Pros: It’s harder than most if you get distracted. In fact, I’ve never hit gold on all the levels, something very odd when it comes to me since I’ve played so many of these. The story is fresh with funny characters. I generally don’t pay much attention to the story, but I do like this one. It’s also the sort you can lose hours playing without realizing it. The music and noises aren’t annoying like so many.

The cons: the last few levels are a downer. It feels like they left it hanging with no resolution at all. I was all :: Blink :: that’s all it was? A better tie-up to it would be much better. Give us some resolution. And it’s not long enough :P MOAR, as they say.

Overall, A huge thumbs up from me with the request of more in this series please!

In Brief
A Time Management Game

Suggestions:
Please take a few moments to give some positive or negative feedback about your opinion of New Yankee in King Arthur's Court; for example, what you liked or disliked about the game, or how it could be improved from your point of view. If you don't like the genre at all, please explain why and if any, what improvements would change your mind? There are thousands of subscribers to the game giveaway of the day every weekend which makes this an ideal forum for giving developers new or fresh ideas as to what their consumers (i.e you) would like to see in a game. For example, you could suggest extra content such as better or more original mini games, or a level editor that you would like to see that would make it more appealing to you. Maybe you think the graphics are a little dated and are in need of re skinning, or maybe you've just had enough of the genre and want to see something different or something with more originality? Giving such feedback instead of saying nothing or just saying this game is rubbish or good may bring more developers to the site, which could mean more and better games. Would you give away thousands of copies of a game (or extra content for a game) away to a community that complains all the time instead of giving useful feedback? It only takes a few moments of your time.

This site could be transformed if only the community would be more forthcoming in their opinions of the games they are getting for free instead of complaining about the way this site has changed, they don't like MPC games, they hate HOG, have had enough of Match Three and Time Management games, they want to see the latest version of Call of Duty or some other big name AAA game given away or that they don't like Steam games. If something isn't for you then please move on to the next giveaway, or check out the forums HERE, HERE and HERE, where a few members of the community post details of various free games and free game sites as well as links to various indie bundle sites etc; you never know, you may find something that really interests you.
If you miss today's game giveaway you can always get the game via MyPlayCity 24/7 HERE. If you prefer to purchase the game you can get it via Big Fish games HERE. It usually costs £7.70; but, if you are a new subscriber to BFG you can get it at a discounted price of £2.99/$2.99.

Introduction:
Go on an unforgettable adventure with the game New Yankee in King Arthur's Court. If there’s hardly a breath of air, the sky is overcast and the sun is going in, it means that a storm with tremendous claps of thunder and bright flashes of lightning is coming. So, you’d better go home or something terrible will happen. Flash. Darkness. And… You are in England of Middle Ages, and a king gives you orders. You should build windmills, lighthouses, statues and what not. You are lucky to have a Royal advisor Merlin. Listen to him very carefully and you’ll be able to cope with all tasks in the game New Yankee in King Arthur's Court. Workers will also help you. Build houses to attract more people to your place.

Ashampoo_Snap_2017.06.24_22h52m08s_014_
If the work is ready in time, you’ll get a medal. Besides houses you can build a sawmill, which doubles the amount of wood you produce, a windmill to get more food or a foundry that will give you extra gold. Numerous spells will also make your life easier. For example, you can speed up the harvest or make your workers move faster, but first fill the altar with Mana. Beware of skeletons. Avoid meeting with miners, as they don’t like anyone taking their gold. Remember that if thieves see a worker, they’ll capture him, so click the bell to warn people about approaching enemies. Turn your kingdom into a powerful empire in the game New Yankee in King Arthur's Court!

If you have a problem installing or activating or getting New Yankee in King Arthur's Court to work please visit the problems section, which I've now incorporated into the FAQ's thread, and which you can find HERE
The Game:
New Yankee in King Arthur’s Court is a decent management game that builds on its foundations slowly but surely, and provides players with a wonderful way to spend an evening or two. In King Arthur’s quest to find the Fountain of Youth, the king isn’t all that interested in going after it himself in person. Rather, he’s sending out one of his best men – you, in fact – to explore the surrounding areas and find the magical water for him. Cue farming, mining, chopping and all other sorts of actions in a bid to push around the land and discover the fountain’s source.
On each of New Yankee‘s 40 levels you are given objectives to complete. However, you can’t simply jump straight to the problem – instead, you are required to gather the necessary resources first, and get your workers darting around with all sorts of tasks. For example, farming is free, but chopping down trees requires food. Mining, on the other hand, requires wood from the tree… and so on and so forth.
new-yankee-in-king-arthurs-court-2-screenshot4

new-yankee-in-king-arthurs-court-screen-2
The end objectives usually involve building great monuments to the king or forging a path through rocks and mines, and balancing your use of your workers is the key to achieving your goals. If you’re efficient and fast enough, you’ll earn a gold medal for the level, and chasing these medals is rather addictive.
There are outside elements that look to help or hinder your progress. Magic spells can be used to speed up work, make your harvest grow faster and other such useful things. However, there are also goblins on the loose that will kidnap your workers if you aren’t careful. You can rack tasks up for your workers, and in this way you want to make sure no one is ever stood around idle.
There is so much variety in the game, and the rush of making sure everything is running like clockwork is glorious. It’s all casual enough that most players will be able to get into it, but more hardcore gamers will love chasing the gold medals and really putting serious thought into their tactics.
new-yankee-in-king-arthurs-court-screenshot3

screenshot2
This variety does begin to wane towards the end of the game however, meaning that you eventually feel like you’re doing the same thing over and over again. It would have been great if there were more modes than just the single player campaign, but alas, this is all you get. That’s not to say it isn’t a great experience, but a little bit extra would have been appreciated such as, say, an endless mode.
We also encountered a couple of bugs throughout, which saw us complete the level and satisfy the objectives, yet the game did not register our win. It would appear that we were a little too quick for the game! Fortunately this only happened a couple of times.

Useful Information not related to today's game giveaway:
The problems section that used to be posted here in the Game review is now included in the Game Discussion FAQ's thread; which you can find HERE.
I've updated the games section that used to be posted with the review. The thread is now called 'Weekly round up of game deals', formerly the games section of the weekly reviews. You can find the new thread (which I've posted in the sticky section of the game discussion forums to make it easier to find if you are perusing the game discussion forums) HERE.
The rest of the information that used to be posted here can be found in the forums HERE. Finally, check out Delenns thread over in the forums HERE. There are games available for free, some of which are limited to the number of free keys available. If you missed out on the free copy of Killing Floor yesterday ( a zombie shooter on the lines of Left 4 Dead, but older). I have a few spare keys. If you are interested let me know via the forums HERE. I'd rather give the keys to community members who would be willing to play coop online with me sometime, though it's not absolutely necessary. check the link to see video and images of the game. also, I haven't forgotten I owe Steam keys to several community members. I can only apologize for the delay in sending them out. Rest assured, once my sons exams are over I will find the document with all the keys listed then send them out to each community member. Really sorry it's taken so long. I have sent out a few, but only because they were new keys I'd purchased recently.
