I originally had problems downloading this GGOTD, like everyone else, but then I went to my wife's computer and it downloaded fine. So I tried it again and it seemed to download fine and thought nothing more about it, until later.

I first installed the files on my wife's computer and it seemed to work fine; later on when she played it she did complain to me that she couldn't get past the phone message part. I have since downloaded a Trial version, as suggested, but haven't had time to install it yet.

But, the problem I encountered was totally different than any other problem I read about here and I read all 207 posts. When I install any GOTD offering the first thing I do is read the "ReadMe" just in case there are any additional steps I need to be aware of. Then I extract the normal two files in what I call "UnZip" folder, then send a shortcut of the installer to the desktop. I do this like a mind numbed robot; I've done it so many times before and don't really pay any attention to file names because the two files are both titled, "Setup".

I install any GOTD offering with a Pro versioin of an "Uninstaller", which I will not promote here, and after I've run the installed program to both make sure it works and let the "Uninstaller" record any other registry enties that might be installed I have to give the program a name; in this case, "NatatlieBrooks - LostKingdom", because a "Setup" is not a very good description. Then I'm done and close the "Uninstaller" which creates a file if I ever have the need to uninstall it. Works pretty good.

At first I didn't really noticed it, when I'm installing I just want to get done with it and get on with other things. But, when everything is said and done I run the installed program one more time to make sure there will not be any unexpected problems. And that's when I noticed it. I said, "wait a minute; this doesn't look like the same scenes that I saw on my wife's computer!" And indeed it wasn't.

I recorded the name of the program as stated above, but in actuality what was installed was indeed not "Lost Kingdom", but, "Natalie Brooks: Secrets of Treasure House". I guess I can't complain, I did get a game, but not the one advertised. Kinda curious since what I downloaded on the wife's computer was the correct file.

And I did find a problem in the game in the basement. I had to restart the game a few times until I figured out that things had to be done in a specific order, but it's still a programming error, but I did get past it and the game worked fine all the way through, except for that one error in the basement.

And what is everyone yammering about a download not working the day before this; I see no mention of any game offered on 08 February. I can only assume different countries get more offering than other countries. Great for them; not for others.

It installed fine but when I got to the phone I couldn't get passed it. I just deleted it when I didn't see any fixes that day. will try it again if it's offered

I downloaded and opened this game last weekend. It was a couple of days before I actually tried to play the game. When I did, I couldn't even put in my username because the the screen was all fuzzy and warped-looking. I was very sad.

I used the Big Fish demo to get past the cell phone glitch but now my GOTD version keeps shutting down. I just passed chapter 12. My Big Fish Demo has expired so I cannot go to that to finish the game nor can I finish the GOTD version. Please let me know if you get these glitches fixed. Thanks.

I downloaded and had to resort to the patch of downloading the trial version to even advance beyond chapeter3. My heart goes out to those who created the game but to those who tried TO USE us as the slaughter pigs shame on you. We could not even advance beyond level l2

201 - it happened to me too and as I still had 58 minutes on the trial version from Myplaybus.com I tried it there and it worked - so I passed without bigger issues and played to the end on the giveaway version.

The trick with the trial version worked fine on my phone - now I will see if I get stuck in chapter 12 too - am not there already but near ;-)

OK--played through Chapter 12 and it abruptly quits playing (closes itself out) and won't move on to the last chapter 13. Got through the phone situation by downloading the Big Fish game. Unfortunately I played for an hour and can't use it to by-pass this glitch. Very disappointed.

Sorry, the phone fix seemed like more trouble than it was worth. I deleted the game. Shame.

I have the same "phone" problem. I tried the trial from bigfish and was completely disgusted. the download took only minutes, the activation took over an hour. I felt like I was on my first PC (an X86) When the activation FINALY finished the "play button did nothing but the "buy" button worked instantly. Surprise surprise. Help from bigfish was non existent. Long and short of it - no way I would ever recommend bigfish to anyone or be interested in any games from them. Final move...DELETE

I understand there's a "fix" but kind of hoped that the giveaway version would be fixed first rather than having to find and install two different game versions. :( I absolutely love these kind of games but frustrating when it doesn't work correctly. May check out the fix, may not, but hope that giveaway will be updated or a new one set up...less than an hour to go before this giveaway ends but it's still the broken version of the game.

Well, using the demo to get past the phone worked. Returned to the GAOTD version and played all the way to section 12, just started the ghost train ...and CTD. Restarting takes me to that point ... and CTDs. Was fun up to then; the puzzles are very good, and difficult (only skipped one - no idea what to do with the globe puzzle).

Hmm - Moderator's fix -If you install the demo from Alawar and play thro & no 82 fix - (Clicking on ‘Read’ on cell phone not working. Win 8.1 64 bit with all available updates installed. Downloaded MyPlayCity version, proceeded past cell phone part, closed MyPlayCity version and re-opened GGOTD version. So far, so good.) I prefer getting game from gotd but after using mod's fix or no. 82 fix - CAN the demo from alawar or version from my play city be deleted after fixing for continued replay??? Would rather have gotd but if game can't be used on deleting emo and other version - I would rather just download play city version to save space! 92 mb taken up by demo just to get game working! Hundreds of songs could go where that 92mb demo is!!

Yes you can delete the MPC and Alawar version.

Shouldn't affect your giveaway version. That said. Iwould 'manually' delete them otherwise the uninstaller provided by the Alawar demo version may delete the saves, then you would be back to square one.

I was able to download it by visiting the download link via the proxy and pasting the actual result link (files.giveawayoftheday.com/NatalieBrooksTheTreasuresoftheLostKingdom.zip) to the Download Master. However, it's a bit annoying that I cannot download it in the normal way. Hope, you'll do something with it.

Still 404 error.. sigh.....

i went to alawar to try and download the 60minute trial to try the suggested work around for the cellph section but using the title resulted in 0 found games on their site. such a shame as i enjoy HOG

if you still have trouble, get it from MyPlayCity (MPC); or, if Jenkat have it preferably from them; make sure you uncheck the boxes if you get the MPC version, otherwise you'll find extra toolbars in your browser, or your ome page changed etc.

Note: Since someone said they'd had luck using a proxy, I booted up my Comodo Dragon browser (which uses a proxy), and wonder of wonders, the game is downloading as I type. It's a huge download, it's taking forever, but I'm down to two minutes left, so it's definitely working. Since (in my vague knowledge of such things), proxys use servers from other locations, that would make sense for White Rabbit's idea that the server is what is making the difference as to who can download what.

The download is now finished, and I'm about to start the game, so thanks to whoever had that suggestion.

After finishing this game the only thing I can say is this version is very buggy. Not only was the cell phone a problem, which I only got past with Play City game, but the GGOTD version crashed on Chapter 7 part one. Had to go back to the Play City version, which worked just fine, to finish the game. Very poor release by GOTD.
Game play is good, only one really hard puzzle, and a pretty lame ending, if you ask me.
Thanks for the attempt though.

Well after using Big Fish demo to get past the cell phone problem. I continued playing the game downloaded from here until near the end of Chapter 6 where it crashed and took me out of the game. I tried again same result. So I went to the Big Fish demo and finished the game there.

Big Fish graphics were better as well.

Not a bad game, but it's buggy. Without downloading the demo, it would have been impossible to play or finish.

Thanks to all that provided a work around for the cell phone problem. I went to the forums and found this has been a problem for others for some time. Apparently it hasn't been fixed since we are still commenting on the same problem. Uninstalled the game - there will be others that work. Come on Alawar and BigFish....Sigh

Same "read" problem with the cell phone in the first scene. Hope there is a fix in the game in the future.

Sorry guys; I've just not had the time to work through the comments today. I can't ever remember having so many (approaching 200) in one day before.

I'm not sure whether the following fix will work, but it's worth a try.

If the phone bug everyone is talking about is the section at the beginning of the game where the phone appears, I think it's the giveaway version that has the proble and not the version you purchase from Alawar because I played through the initial stages of the game, including the phone, with no problems.

If you install the demo from Alawar and play through the phone section, you can then boot up the giveaway version and it will continue from where you left of with the demo (even though they are installed to different locations) I think the save are stored in the registry, so which ever version you play, it will continue from the point you left the game.

If the phone bug continues when the phone next appears, just boot up the demo to get past that part, then continue with the giveaway version.

I know it's a bit of an annoyance, but I think it will work.

Had graphics lines all over until changed to low quality. Played, but like all the rest, got stuck on cell phone, nothing worked. I, too, went to BigFish and got the trial, played through the phone and to chapter 2 just in case, and now giveaway is past the cell issue. surprised at this one, have played and own many Alawar games with nary a prob. Maybe a early development issue got sent out in error.

Well, that mobile phone has been even more annoying than a real one today! Like so many others I couldn't read the message, but having read the tips from a few others here I went to Big Fish Games, where I am a member, and downloaded the demo of today's game.

I then began to play the demo (don't click the GGOTD icon by mistake!) and it started where I had left off, with my username and all. I was able to read the message without a problem, and continued the game from there.

Once that level is finished, you can carry on playing either version until the demo runs out of time. I've gone back to playing the GGOTD one so as to leave some spare time available on the demo, just in case of future problems.

The game itself is okay - maybe not the most brilliant artwork or storyline, but it is quite an oldie, and we oldies don't often improve with age. But it's a pleasant enough way of passing a bit of spare time, and not so impossibly difficult as some of the super-modern games can be.

It's a great pity that the phone glitch has caused problems for so many people today, but after all it doesn't happen very often. Thanks to GGOTD and Whiterabbit, and also to those whose words of wisdom have helped some of us over the hurdle and on with the game!

And to Alawar - I hope you'll fix that phone before the game gets much older. Thank you!

tried to download twice in Chrome as well as in Firefox. But it won't load:

Win8.1 user and yes I did find that I could not pass answering the phone either. I did download the game from MyPlayCity and played pass that scene and all is good. But playing the game in another name and you are stuck at the phone. A glitch that needs working I think.

This program is so buggy that I'm not going to waste my time trying to download it. I have never seen so many reports with these types of problems and errors in all the years I have been downloading programs from this site. I'm thinking that the 404 error is just a coincidence happening at the same time the technical problems are occurring and are not related to the other problems listed. coincidence.

Yay, thought I'd try to download again (7:42pm, Central Maine) and was fast and complete and has installed (again fast and complete) fine on Windows 8/64k. Will grab some dinner then give it go. Thanks so much GOTD for getting the download fixed!

If you go into the file where the game is located (on one's computer- Games/NatalieBrooks_game) there are two text files which seem weird to me. The text file: nb2_0 .... partially reads,

Same as many others, got stuck at the phone message, couldn't read it.

Typical of the Natalie Brooks games, there is a bug or glitch somewhere that makes the game unplayable. Too bad, because the games are enjoyable...up until the bug or glitch. Such a shame it happens right up front.

Same "cellphone" problem as everyone else; used the BigFish trial work-around -- saving the remaining minutes for the next glitch :-( .

Just an addition to the others- same problem with phone, same MyPlayCity workaround. I did also notice error logs in the folder after each run- nb2_0.txt, mb2_1.txt, etc. They are filled with lines like:

Other than the phone problem, I have run into no other gameplay issues so far.

AAARGH! The bug with the phone is INFURIATING!!! This is unbelievably annoying since for once the GGOTD today is a lovely HOG and not Yet Another match-3 (yawn) like Fishdom.

BIG black mark to Alawar and it's unusual for them to have a game with such a huge honking bug in it.

No problem accessing the file but d/l speed was a miserable 23k; 45 minutes later I installed ...and hit the same glitch as everyone else - no phone.

Had to install the Jenkat version, as the GAOTD version gets stuck on the phone part, as many here stated before.

The Jenkat version works just fine, one has to uncheck things and repeatedly press Decline until the game installs, though.

(and it took forever to download)

It's 5pm Central time here and I decided to try it myself. Took 2 attempts to download; first time stalled out but second succeeded. In first chapter had same problems as many others - statuette wouldn't turn and couldn't read the note in the phone. Unable to progress further. Looks like a nice game though. Hope Alawar and GGOTD can fix it and extend the giveaway time. I'm posting this in the forum too; if it does get fixed please post there also.

I had problems with the statuette; I think it's just a little fiddly. You have to turn each of the head dress feathers first.

Will not install correctly in my Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 machine. Program wants to run Winrar, but is unsuccessful.

Well I finally downloaded the game. But it's got a glitch when reading cell phone message. I see others have the same problem. That's too bad. It looked like a game my daughter would have enjoyed. Will GGAOTD be trying to fix this and let us re-download the link? And thank you for all the games you giveaway. Great site and great team!

I'm just skipping it per all the comments. Its a shame, since would have like to try this one. Hope it is offered again when the problem is cleared up. But that's one thing that's great about having this blog, it can help others if able and warn if can't, plus let the makers know of trouble.
