Mystic Adv. was really fast to download. It is a fast paced fun game that is nice to play at the end of a hectic day, or for a break at lunch time. I am having fun playing it!

I enjoyed playing the game. Took a bit of time at the beginning to discover how to play, but I did enjoy it & will probably play it a bit. Really disappointing that the game is so small & finishes up so fast!

Similar to Tetris or (offered here) Artic Quest where you try to fit shapes before time runs out. Not my cup of tea. Hit the ESC to try and stop the game and that hung it up (WindowsXP). I've uninstalled.

But jon, wondering, michel, etc.: Why did you waste space repeating the same BS. As if no one's going to figure out you're the same lame person. BTW, ZoneAlarm didn't alert on this and it would have if it had tried to connect, so I'm calling BS on your claim. This DID NOT try to "phone home" or make any connection. Maybe you'd better to check your system isn't hiding something else that's trying to connect.

please, tell everyone about the connecting to the internet this game does every time you open this game to play it.
I tried to open and play it and it tried to go online, but luckily my bitdefender2008 blocked it.
deleted because of this.
did not play it because I could not open the game to do so.

Installed OK.

Must be me... for some reason, I fill all the spaces and I cannot complete a level.

No help file... so amateur software at best.

Thanks GOGTD...

I downloaded it, virus scanned it, bitdefender said no viruses.
opened it, installed it in my computer in a games file.
then when I opened it to play it, it tried to call home by going online.
now, why would it need to do that?
yes it is registered so please do not say it is calling to register itself.
it does not need to go onto the internet to be played.
Bit defender blocked it from calling.
yes, it is activated. the your game is activated web page came up.
I shut everything down, then unblocked the game to see what would happen if I started it up again.
it tried to connect to the internet again.
can anyone tell me why does a game need to connect to the internet if it is not an online game?

Thumbs up and down for this game.
It is nice, it works well with windows vista and the graphic is not so bad... However there is only one problem: I finish it in just three hours...

Thank you for the game to GAOTD, it gives me a few hours of fun.

I downloaded the game and it works great with windows vista. Level 2 is as far as I get. You don't have enough time to get all the green for the tree. It is frustrating, and trying to click on the butterflies...........hahaha good luck.....I saw blurs going by on the screen as I was trying to figure out what piece goes where. Level 2 is like tetris on perhaps level 30(if there is such a level)
I'm just saying that it is hard from the get go, and I prefer brainless games, however, I will not give up on this game....yet.
Thank you very much GAOD and Winter Wolves, free games are always appreciated.

I'm glad I didn't pay for it, but ok for free. Took a couple of hours to get through all levels. Only had to redo a level once. Good for hand eye coordination - if you can't click on the butterflies while waiting for a piece you need, you'll never finish the levels.

Downloaded & installed without issues on XP SP3 using dial up.

I am enjoying this game. I understand where level '3' (shows as 3rd filled in circle on Quest Mode but game says it's Level 2 the apples tree) is probably the 1st challenging level on this game and it did take me 2-3 tries to get past it by using different bonuses from the coins I have collected.

I am also a huge fan of Tetris, I remember that being quite addicting and I used to play it on Gameboy all the time - back when Gameboy was green & grey screen =P

I gave this game a thumbs up. I just wouldn't pay $20 for it.

Thanks GOTD and Winter Wolves for bringing it to us.

A very nice game change from all the space shooting games! Please no more for about a week or so?
Anyways, I installed without a problem on xp and on my computer. :) Ran just fine and played the first five levels, its a fun puzzler will keep me entertained for afew hours at most.
The only thing its missing is a colour blind option, because what if you are colour blind? Then you wouldn't be able to play this game at all!

This game is only at v 1.0... so I'm thinking its not done?? Or more versions are going to be out soon? And if you aren't a fan of puzzles... then don't download this game.

I find the game interesting and potentially fun. I found a few major annoyances, however:

1. The help screen shows up when you first play the game. After that, I couldn't find any way to see it again, not even if I created a new player. I accidentally clicked before I was done reading, and so had to play the game with minimal knowledge. It took forever to figure out that I needed white blocks for the peaks on the second level!

The worst part about this problem is that even if I read the help, anyone else who creates a player account won't get to see it, making the game very hard indeed!

2. There doesn't appear to be any way to delete players. I could see the list getting cluttered up eventually, if you create new accounts (as I often do) to replay early parts of the game.

3. Not a problem, but I always prefer games that let you go back and play the earlier levels again if you choose to. There is a map screen, just make the green level circles clickable and allow the player to replay.

I'm going with a thumbs down on this one, but I can see a lot of potential here. There are some other good suggestions above, too!

I strongly advise that you do some in-house black box testing if possible. Get some people you know (friends, spouses, children) to come in and play the game without you telling them anything or offering any help. If they can't figure something out unaided, then you have something to look into or fix.

I don't often give games a thumbs down because I can usually find "something" good in them, but this one gets "the down". The games is extremely "clumsy". I didn't even get through the first level before wiping it off my hard drive. FYI I'm running Vista.

Thanks for a chance to try it out Giveaway guys! Keep up the good work.

No problem in downloading and installing. Tried the game for five minutes. It is pretty decent game. Not the kind I would spend money on, but surely the kind of game to play once in a while. Not too interested on creating my own levels (I'm a lazy bloke), but the ability to do so is pretty cool I suppose.

I've been playing computer games since Wompus on the IBM system 34, never in my life have I played anything as boring and programed to make the player lose as this game does. Whoever has anything to do with it needs to withdraw it and needs to change the AI so that you don't have to replay a level ten times in order to win. The in game help is ah hem um useless.

Download, installation and game play of the first level all proceeded smoothly. The game itself is difficult to play on a laptop using the touchpad. The game is rather pointless, not much fun, and about as interesting as working on an assembly line in a factory. I am next going to test how effective the uninstall routine works. If you do not hear from me again, you will know this worked as intended.

Installed okay, but this game is deeply infuriating.
Specific colours are often needed to fill map and the game gives you pieces that are every colour except the ones needed - for example - Tree puzzle - I had to resort to wildly clicking on swarms of butterflies to complete this, because the game only gave colours that were NOT the required green !
I spend every coin I had on another level extending the time because the game was giving red, blue, black and pink shapes, and the puzzle to fill was 3/4 green ! - I'm sorry, but I have better things to do that sit and watch a conveyor belt of puzzle pices go by in the vain hope that there is another green piece.
I like puzzle games and the basic idea for this one is good, however, this is often NOT a puzzle game, but a game of chance and mass mouse clicking on butterflies - this in itself can have undesired consequences - when you are chasing a butterfly to click it and find that you inadvertantly click the "add time" or "butterfly swarm" buttons instead....
Uninstalled. I use Revo uninstaller as a rule and it found that Mythic Adventures left behind the following to clog up my system...
Files in application data.
Some menu related items in the registry.

The game installed ok but that is all positive I have to tell about this game. When I started playing I stranded in the third level where I could not get any further even with all the luck in the world with bonuses and this is probably an error.
There was just never enugh time.

You can't go to the toilet or anything else during the game because you can't stop it and if you do not use the blocks it keeps on going and going and going.

Don't make the mistake to use the ESCAPE button if you do that the game freezes and you can not do anything at all until you use CTRL-ALT-DEL and then the game continous on and on again.
Nothing seems to stop it before you played out your level (sigh)

I had to put out the computer completely to get rit of the game when I wanted to do something else with my computer.
I hate it when a game has that effect on my PC and that happens only with very bad software or games.

Defenitely a big thumb down.
The graphics are fuzzy and not sparkling at all.
Even for free I don't like this game.

It does'nt work OK and it is not nice to look at.
Sorry GOTD but this is my honest opinion.

I removed it and that went ok
but thanks for all the other games I like so much so far.

Once again, I'm writing this review as if I had to pay for the game. Sure it's free for us today, but the concept of this site is to review games as if we had to pay for it and not say "quit complaining, it's free". Consider the fact that after today, people will have to pay for this game and how would YOU feel about the game if you had to pay for it.

Overview:

In this game, you basically fill a board with Tetris type pieces that move along the conveyer belt. The pieces start moving fast and then when the timer hits 25%, it slows down. Some boards, you have to match the Tetris piece with the colors on the board. It's worth noting that greys can be any color. So, for example, board two is a white peak mountain. You can use white pieces that extend beyond the white squares.
There are occasional butterflies that zoom past. Catch them and part of the board autofills. I don't have the fastest machine, but even with my PC, catching one is near impossible. There are also gold coins on the board. If you place a piece over one or more gold coins, they get added to your stash. You can spend these to get more time, randomly fill a few spots, or have a bunch or slower butterfly show up. The game also has a level maker, which is always a nice touch.

Now, the bugs. I found two:

1. If you make a custom level and type the name and hit enter (instead of clicking save). The "load", "save", "quit" buttons move to the right side instead of the bottom. Hovering over the new buttons show the "auto fill", "butterflies", and "more time" buttons you see from the game. The buttons still "work" technically but since the board is cleared at this point, working buttons is a mute point.
2. If you save a custom board, you player name changes to the name of the board. Huh?

The minuses:

1. I got stuck on the third board which required mostly red and green pieces. I kept on running out of time. Even if I spent coins on bonuses, I was out of luck. There's some elements the game designers could have implemented but didn't that could have made this level doable.
2. If you select "more time", you can't select pieces for a few seconds while the text is on the screen. Not a bug, but a very bad design. Basically don't click the "add time" button if there's a piece you really need anywhere from the edge to the half way point of the conveyer belt.

The misses (AKA What they could have implemented in the game):

1. Right now, the pieces you get is completely random. It'd be nice if you were at the point that all you needed were squares, that's all you got. It could have levels as well. In the "advanced" game, the game should only provide pieces that could possibly fit, regardless of color. This would mean somewhere on the board, there's an L shaped space, you'd get an L, regardless of whether the colors of that L space were the same. Now bear with me on this. That would mean a strategy would be to not necessarily always fit pieces perfectly like a jigsaw puzzle but to make "holes". If you have spots for only rectangles and squares on the board, then that's what you'd get. Granted, not all would be the right color, but occasionally the right color would show up. An "easier" mode would only give pieces that match the colors you have left to fill. If you had grays, all colors would show up. Otherwise, if the board was all green and red, that'd be all you got.
2. The discard area is a nice feature. It could be improved, however. How about if you discard a piece there, a piece matching that exact shape and color never showed up? That way a quick thinking gamer could discard unneeded colors and shapes as opposed to the typical gamer who just might watch the pieces casually scroll off the conveyer belt. Right now, outside of discarding a erroneously selected piece, the discard area serves no additional purpose.

As it stands for me anyway, I'm stuck in Quest Mode level 3. It requires a ton of red squares and a lot of green pieces. Since the game provides me other colors and near the end, still provides pieces that could never fit on the board, regardless of color, the only way I could pass it would be by "cheating" the game. In a nutshell, I'd have to keep playing (and losing) or play custom boards until I have enough coins to give me enough bonuses to pass the board. As far as I'm concerned, the 3rd board is too difficult and which means all I can do is build custom boards. Odds are, the developers made "cute boards" and didn't bother testing to see if these boards could be finished in the allotted time.

Because of the bugs and the fact that I can't get past the 3rd level, I'm giving this one a thumbs down. If I had to pay for this, I'd be relatively disappointed that I couldn't finish the main game without "cheating" past the 3rd level (and what's the point of playing a game that you have to do that to move on?).

Strange that there is no mention of the game on the web site and if you follow Stephens link it is priced at $9.95 not $19.95. Also on the publishers website are Pocket PC games but it is only possible to buy them as there are no links for info!

Anyway, just going to download to check it out!

Installed with no issues to Xp and runs very well.

Game play has some other "screens/options" to keep a players intrest.

The actual site for the game is http://www.sakuragames.com/mythicadventure.htm and not the Winter Wolves site.

The graphics, mainly the backgrounds, I feel could be better.

As an adult I do not feel that this would hold my intrest but, it will be a great tool to help me teach my younger children and maybe even get my older children playing WITH my younger ones. (I can wish lol)

Thank you GAOTD & Sakuragames

Two minute addendum to my comment above:

I'll be adding some in game screen captures just as soon as I've played the game for a little while. Though I won’t bother amending the review as the quotes I've used in my comment above together with the screen captures I'll be posting to the link I've already given above should amply describe the game.

It's not the prettiest game of this genre I've come across, but there are some aspects to the game such as coin collecting for bonuses that include additional time, magic auto fill and butterfly swarms that give additional coins, (if you can catch them by clicking on them) which are added to the playing board. The coins can then be used to buy additional bonuses.

The level editor is easy to use. You can create increasingly complex boards using different colored shapes. These custom levels are accessible from the custom levels button on the playing mode screen.

I made one error in my comment above; that is there are 26 levels in the main quest not 24 as I said.

Thank you winter wolves and the game giveaway team for a good game. After playing it for about 20 minutes, I'd say it's a worthwhile download and well worth 7 out of 10.

The usual negative comments appeared within a minute of the game being posted which really is a joke. (Though as someone previously said, whoever did that may have already played a demo of the game. Still, it would be great if the giveaway team could come up with a better method of scoring a game. Perhaps you should have to post a comment before you can score any game a plus or minus. (Just my 2 pennies worth)
