I agree with #48; the mouse is quite jerky. The 3D features are awesome, though. This game reminds me of Sid Meier's Civilization games. I'd like to see those here. http://www.2kgames.com/civ4/home.htm

I tried it and it seems like a fun game BUT I don't like the delay of my mouse...very slow. Is there some way to make it perform properly and smoothly (the cursor/my mouse in the game)?

Absolutely one of the better games given away in here. Kind of having a lot of farm Tamagotchi's to look after. It is very simple to get to the highest production level of having lots of cows producing milk and get cash like crazy (One cow delivers one milk for 80, so ten milk buys you a new cow. When you get the tractor each cows milk production is doubled)).

So I think the game should not be considered one where its all about getting the most income.. Instead its just a funny little simulation where you could have a lot of different animals on your farm, creating life on your screen. - The screensaver function is a nice one.

I personally like it! Thanks a bunch. For those with questions on how to do things, it does have a manual that is located in the programs on the start menu.

Fun game! But not one I would like to play over and over again. I finished the game (if you could saw getting 20 cows finished) in 3 hours. Got the dog and tractor, no rooster. I think it depends on which farm animal you focus on.

Does it go to another level or is 20 animals all it can take? Didn't have much problem except that when it starts up, it's still loading with the MY FARM screen but it doesn't show a loading bar and I thought it crashed the first time. Took like 5 minutes to see the main menu. (Slow system).

#37, #39, in Windows XP, use Start, All Programs, My Farm, Manual. It also gave you the option to read the rules when you installed it.

What I've figured out so far:
sell eggs by clicking Sell when at the storeKeeper (k is the hotkey to bring up the storekeeper window)

Cock for hens arrives when you have 10 creatures at 100% food. (and a henhouse).

The hotkeys are "blue" when hovering over the appropriate icon:
1=feed
2=produce
3=hay
a=clean Animals (Important if you want to get 100% happy)
f=clean Farm
k=storeKeeper
e=pEnny fair
i=Installations (place bought equipment)
c=move with Carrot
t=move with sTick
s=Storage (Inventory of feed/produce/etc.)

Hens are cheap. They cost 5 coins and produce eggs at 3 coins each per 24 hour period. Hens will tend to stay near a henhouse.
Ducks are 10 coins and have two growths -- 27 coins (after 2 days) and 55 coins after 3 days. To sell, simply go to the pEnny fair and click the left arrow. You won't know effectively what's the sale price until you see the asking price per duck. Ducks need a pond, but the good thing is they will stay near the pond.

This staying near their area is important for segregation as well as trying to find all these darn things. Which brings me to

Turkeys. At 20 coins, the turkeys are the next great thing. You should wait until they get to be 90 coins (about 3 days). Turkeys are nice, but they wander *everywhere*

To get 100% happiness, you should be prepared to feed new purchases -- alot. Feed new animals 100% and then cleAn them until they're 100% happy. Strange of strange, once you've done this, they tend to stay happy, more or less.

One of the quirks I don't understand is that feeding causes the land to be dirty, rather than so much of the animals doing their dooty.

Still waiting to be able to sell wool.

HOW do you sell the eggs? HOW do you buy a cock for the hens? I just can't seem to figure it out and there is no HELP button or help on the merscom website... the game isn't even listed on their website. What gives?

Thanks to anyone who figures it out and posts it for me.

Those of you doubters should try it before you mouth about it. Its like Farm Tycoon and when you have several types of animals to care for... feeding, cleaning and raking the pens- its not as easy as you might think. Boring its not-- especially when your chickens eat too fast and your 800$ cows go POOF. (plus, you get to beat them with sticks to steer toward the pen!

that indeo codec was found the other day on a comments thread, Im not sure which game it was for- Golf I believe.

I turned my firewall off and I am still unable to activate the software. This is probably the 4th or 5th piece of software that I have attempted to activate from GGAOTD and GAOTD. I see no need in coming here if I cannot activate the programs. Am I the only one with this problem?

Yes, the game didn't work for me neither, and I didn't even get an error message. It downloaded fine, but every time I'd try to start it, my computer would reboot. Lol! Well... I figured I could without it. But thanks anyway, GAOTD... I've gotten some real winners from you folks.

Yah, this game is sort of free. I recieved the message below running Win XP. The wonderful codec will cost $14.95. Thanks for the offering but it won't work in my case.
The program you are trying to run requires a current Indeo codec.
To obtain a current driver that is compatible with this version of Windows, please contact the manufacturer at http://indeo.ligos.com.

#20(bobette): It's true, there have been an awful lot of Merscom games lately, but the similarity ends there. The only thing I don't like about Merscom is they give out games sometimes that are needlessly huge, pumped up with music files, etc. The games themselves are usually of good quality. But DoubleGames are just plain icky. Like garbage. Phew!
Merci beaucoup, GOTD!!! J'adore de jeunes hommes velus!!! GOTD est le meilleur!!!

I don't understand how it all works, but that's just the fun to find out. After the funny 2d Funkyfarm gift on the 21th of june, this 3d game is in the graphics far more beautiful and more challenging for the kids. So in a scale from 0-10 I give the program 9 points.

I can answer why the DirectX setup comes with it. There are quite a few releases of DirectX that have version-specific files and it's a real pain. To guarantee people get the right version (and that it works with the game) they have to provide that exact version.

It's amazingly idiotic of Microsoft to have done this, and it's a real pain in the butt for developers. This is the best solution.

I can't try the game yet, but Merscom games have always been at least interesting in the past.

#9, thanks for the info. I let it run on purpose to see if it would detect the DirectX already on the system but it didn't.

What's interesting is that it deleted the files for you when you cancelled the install, but the batch file says internally, this is designed to run after the DirectX installation to clean up the files. So something isn't linked properly obviously.

#5, I canceled the DirectX setup, and it deleted the DirectX files.

This is a great game for young children. A good training tool to see if they're ready for pets.

Installs a My Farm screen saver, which you can run at any time. The screen saver and game can move open windows (including hidden ones associated with tray icons), a common and annoying problem.

Yeah i totally agree with #5 coz it's really bulky and most people have dx9.0c now. It would have been much better. Maybe if it was something sold on cd it would have been okay. But for download it's a bit of an excess.

I haven't had time to play the game much yet, but it looks neat, I did however notice 2 things that may be worth addressing:

1/ DirectX 9.0c comes packaged with the download, which when the download is uncompressed, takes up 38megs in the game's 109meg install directory. For anyone who doesn't have this installed, couldn't the installation link to MS and advise that this must be downloaded, instead of including this, to reduce the archive size? I had that version of DirectX installed, but it still insisted on putting it in anyway.

2/ There is a batch file included which is supposed to remove all of the DirectX cab installation files after the install is done, however it doesn't run automatically, so unless you search out CleanDXRedist.bat in the game's install directory, and double click it to run, you're left with all of the DirectX 9.0c cab and dll files sitting there.

The only reason I mention these 2 points, is the developer/marketer may wish to reconsider how the game is archived and with the reduced size would attract people who have dialup as it would be more manageable then. Also it would be nice if the game cleaned up those DirectX files at the end of the installation, it makes a much more professional install that way.
