Must Reach is a GameMaker Studio game template for doing a retro platformer style game with wall jumping where you play as a dreaming school girl collecting books to advance to the next level while killing or avoiding the enemies, and ultimately, face the boss Miss Snasty at the final level. The doors are colored and you must retrieve the correct colored book to enter through the same colored doors . Extra Lives are also scattered throughout the level to optionally collect.

You move left and right using the arrow keys (no remapping in game) and use the z key to jump up or off walls which is a requirement (Hold to jump higher) and x key to attack with your umbrella the only 'weapon' in the game. There is no save progress; "Dying" restarts the same level over with one less life and no respawning of the extra lives, but keeps the books you found unless all lives are gone in which case you return to the beginning of the world you were on.

The enemies act similarly just moving back and forth (even the dinosaurs on the 3rd world) with just different skins and mainly just need 5 hits to kill (or just avoid) so usually at this point we must reach...the uninstall button :) However, its mostly playable unlike many of these efforts and the platforming gets quite a bit more difficult with the addition of acid pools in levels of the 2nd world, which was harder even than the 3rd world and probably should be flipped. This game may appeal to someone who likes platforming games with a heavy challenge but is not impossible since I got to the boss. Takes only about 20-30 minutes to 100%. There are better platformers, even in this simple style but its playable for the most part, but not much reason to replay. Rating: D+

There is no level # display and along with save should generally always be added. As to bugs, there were two. The visual display of the lives/books at top disappeared around the 2nd and 3rd levels of the 2nd world as a bug but does not keep from passing the levels. I also got the below error likely upon 'killing' the boss as I was able to 'hit' her a number of times.
