Mountains is one of those jigsaw type puzzles with rectangle shaped jigsaw pieces (fragments) located around the edges that are all visible which you have to assemble together so that a final photo of mountains in this case is formed. There are 31 images to solve, each image is on a 5x5 grid. In this windows version unlike in the browser version you can save up to five players progress however it does not save your progress within a level as far as pieces you had assembled then quit the level which could be added.
The difficulty is a bit higher since there are no hints or showing what the image is you are trying to assemble, however there are only 25 possible places each piece can go and once a piece is placed correctly it locks into place and you can no longer move it around. You can place pieces back on the edge anywhere...Maybe can try allowing pieces to latch together when they fit together but not yet in the right final location to lock in place as you can with a real puzzle.
Pieces do not snap into the grid which can be added along with some further sounds such as putting it in the grid and when the piece locks as its completely quiet until you complete the image. The timer shows how long you took but does not save to any visible stats I can see so dont know why its there. You can easily complete most of the images in short intervals making this an ideal coffee/tea break game and may appeal to those who like more of these relaxing type puzzle games as a change.
Rating: C-
Cats are like puzzles by the way...just when you think you figured them out, you realize your missing a piece.

Today's game focuses on the more simple joys of puzzles. Of the ones we've previously received from Uniden and Gamerea, this one challenges you a bit more as you have to find the right panel that the pieces go in.
One the tile is in place in the correct position, it will lock into the puzzle grid and it won't move anymore. As you already see from the description the puzzle descriptions mention Mountains so it's of the nature variety.
The game has a timer to show how long you've put together a puzzle but is not clear what it's purpose is except to see how fast you've progressed. So far, no reference to any high score / fastest ranking tables inside the game.
It also appears to be a port of a browser or mobile game.
Should you like these kinds of games there are many games online that will let you play jigsaw puzzles in the browser. Arkadium has one and if you don't like the puzzle you see on the screen you can always reload the page and get a new image although it takes a small time to load. Just a warning, unless you subscribe to their site they do have heavy advertising.
Overall this game is a coffee break game that will keep you entertained for awhile although it's difficulty is quite high and you may be finding yourself putting them together for minutes on end.

Hi Jason, Yes there are some interesting puzzle games that use the digital world a bit more such as:
Pixel Puzzles 2 - two of them here on sale for 49 cents: https://store.steampowered.com/app/355920/Pixel_Puzzles_2_Space/ and https://store.steampowered.com/app/344230/Pixel_Puzzles_2_Birds/
And of course there are puzzle games like Mosaic: Game of Gods, Mosaics Galore and Alice's Patchwork all given away on GOTD recently you can search that take it in a slightly different direction. I understand that we are all different in what kind of games we may like so its great that you take time to check them out even when not necessarily something you would normally play.
