This is another of those cheap platformers created using the free Construct 2 engine, though some assets may have been paid for? Game play is virtually the same as previous platform titles we've received , for example; Werewolf Life (15th Nov 19), Eared Hero (7th Nov 19), Crazy Scientist (30th Oct 19), My Loved Heart (18th Oct 19), Forest Guardian (30th Sept 19) etc. Even the intro is virtually the same in each game.

Introduction:

Mountain Troll is a simple 2D platformer in which you play as a mountain Troll. Imagine that you are the kindest Troll in the world and someone stole your stuff, you have to get them back! Your main purpose in this game is picking up stolen bags. After all items in the level are collected, the door into the dwelling of the Troll opens, after which you will be directed to the next level. But don't think that it would be so easy, someone clearly does not want you to help the Troll collect the bags, on your way there are various traps, like bear traps and jagged rocks. Be careful, this game won't let you get bored.

The Game:

On the Steam store page, Mountain Troll is given a 'Mostly Positive' rating; however, when you move to the actual review pages HERE, it says 'Mostly Negative'. When attempting to play the game I found issues with the controls in that the jump control didn't always work, and which resulted in repeated failures to navigate through all the platforms, even the simpler jumps and left me trying several times trying to complete a level before giving up in frustration.

The first level is relatively easy despite the poor control set up; basically, and as someone in the Steam review section mentioned, you can't press two keys at the same time, which on all decent gaming keyboards you can often activate several keys at the same time. Because of the keyboard situation trying to jump onto a platform effectively becomes a lot harder as instead of pressing the move forwards and jump together, you have to time the key presses in sequence perfectly to be able to jump on some of the moving platforms. So, timing becomes critical in those cases and which I failed to deliver time and again. From the second of the 12 levels you'll also be faced with various traps such as bear traps and spikes that on touching will kill you and then transport you back to the beginning of the level. Once you've recovered all of the stolen loot bags, the portal to the next level will open. Movement is using the WASD keys. W allows you to jump and the S key allows you to slide under low platforms.

There's nothing new via Indie Gala's free section so far this week, but they do have an habit of adding a couple each week HERE . Zombie Driver HD (an excellent top down driving game where you have to rescue people from the zombie apocalypse, with zombies prowling the streets. The original non HD version was released almost 10 years ago. this HD version was released seven years ago. It's free on Steam HERE until 7pm today Central European time (6pm UK) . Antisquad was supposed to be available for free via Indie Gala, at least for the next few days, but there is an issue at the moment. Keep checking it out over the next few days in case they sort the issue out . At the moment it says download not available. The same issue with The Great Story of a Mighty Hero - Remastered. Both are worth checking out over the next few days to see if the download button has been reactivated. If it is you'll get a drm free copy of the game.s
