I enjoy time-and-resource management games and I have enjoyed the Monument Builders series though they've never been my favorites. I've played the first few levels of this one and it appears to be much like the others. The graphics are good and I like the actual history embedded in them (as opposed to the usual fantasy/imaginary story lines). And it's kind of fun to watch the progress of the monument as you go along.

But ... I find the sounds and the comments by the workers to be repetitive and annoying so I turn them off or way down. There is a lot of waiting around for workers to complete a task or materials to be delivered. And you can't click on a task until there is a worker available, so you can't get ahead of them. I suppose you could consider these to be just part of the challenge of the game, but I find it a little frustrating instead. On most of these games I'll take on the challenge of going for 3 stars, but here I move on to the next if I just get 2.

So, I'm not sure I'll keep it. I'll give a few more levels and see if it grows on me.

This is a brilliant game one of a series of games that have been offered on this set before. It is a time management game great graphics and gameplay. It is easy to learn how to play but hard to get 3stars on every level. The only thing that could make this game better is if you could click on a task before the last one is completed so a worker when free could go straight to the next task. Thank you mpc for offering the game today.

Monument Builders – Rushmore

In Brief

Monument Builders: Rushmore is a Time Management building game from the Monument Builders series (see links below to other free and commercial versions of Monument Builders e.g. Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Titanic, Alcatraz, Great Wall of China, Big Ben, Cologne Cathedral, Statue of Liberty, Empire State building and San Francisco).

Installation:

Monument Builders: Rushmore downloads to a 135 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper, the set-up file and a read me). Those with multiple hard drives can save games on any drive they wish. The newly installed game is 277 MB in size. The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed by the user if you prefer:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MyPlayCity.com\Monument Builders – Rushmore

Four shortcuts are installed to the desktop. three of which can be safely deleted (Play Online Games, MyPlayCity Games and shortcuts to a free online game which vary each week). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you uncheck the box when the additional tasks window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window)

The Game:

The Monument Builders series has always been about allowing players to experience all the hard work and effort that went into some of the world's most iconic and memorable monuments. In this instalment of the game you'll get to witness the entire construction of Mount Rushmore from start to finish and do your part in it as well. It' has superb gameplay and a setting that everyone is sure to enjoy so we definitely recommend giving it a shot.

Perhaps the most impressive part of Monument Builders: Rushmore is how in touch it is with its setting. Throughout the entirety of the game you'll be told fun and interesting little facts about Mount Rushmore and its construction process. Learning these things while playing the game makes the experience more immersive and engaging. This feature isn't really something that you'd find in most other time management games since most of them have fictional settings and this is exactly why this game, and the whole Monument Builders series in general, is so unique.

Onto the gameplay, it's worth mentioning that Monument Builders: Rushmore isn't necessarily the most challenging time management game out there. If you have at least a decent understanding of how games in this genre work then you should be able to breeze through ti with no difficulty. This is actually a pretty nice change of pace since most time management games tend to become absurdly difficult especially during their later stages.

The gameplay formula it utilizes is still the same as it's been for many years now. Each level has a bunch of objectives you need to complete and to complete these objectives you must manage your resources, manage your time and of course manage all your workers. If you make use of your time, resources and workers efficiently then you'll be able to complete the level easily but if you don't do so and the timer runs out before the objectives are completed then the level will have to be repeated.

In terms of visuals, Monument Builders: Rushmore has a lot of great sights to take in. It's pretty satisfying to watch the construction of this iconic monument from start to finish but alongside that the game also has some stellar sound effects, a vibrant colour palette, solid art work and some very smooth animations.

Problems getting the game to work:

If you're having problems installing or activating or getting Monument Builders – Rushmore to work please visit the FAQ's Thread HERE and read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted, for example, a common issue seen since the Themida wrapper was introduced three years ago is that some community members installation of the game are blocked by their security because Themida code has been known to hide malware, (usually an error message is flagged for example 'The executable is corrupted' even though in reality it is not); so as a precaution some anti malware programs will block and even delete the suspect installation files even though the files (i.e. the setup, read me and setup.gcd files are actually totally free from malware. This issue can be solved either by rebooting your computer in safe mode with networking or a quicker method is to temporarily turn off your security software to allow the installation. You could also try whitelisting the setup.gcd file. In the almost 11 years this game giveaway site has been operating there has 'never' been a game given away that was infected with malware.
