Minimalist2D is a challenging retro (pixillated) 2D arena platformer with six levels + a secret level.

The Game

Minimalist2D is a pretty hard retro 2D platformer with lots of devious traps; some operated by switches (turns off lasers) and includes a secret level. See the developers description at the top of the page for more details. Each level is quite large compared to most platformers I've played. I've only played the game for about 30 minutes so far and still haven't succeeded in getting past the first level. If you are into devilishly hard platformers, you'll probably find this one reasonably easy, but still worth a download. For community members like myself with slow reaction times (or with little patience), this will be quite challenging. You have to time your jumps just right otherwise you'll most likely be impaled on one of the many spiked traps, or end up running into a laser or other traps. The main difficulty I had was with the movement. When moving forwards or backwards, your avatar doesn't stop until it hits an obstacle, making it devilishly difficult for those with little experience of this type of platformer. Movement is achieved by the A (left) and D (right) keys with the W key used for jumping. You can restart a level using the R key. To access key binding information click on the light bulb in the bottom corner of the main menu. Pity you can't use the arrow keys for movement; this would make it easier for left handed community members like myself. Also, there isn't a key to exit the game. I had to use Shit Tab keys to minimize then hover over the games icon in the task bar to close it down

Thank you to the developer Richard for a decent platformer. Have you any intention of releasing it on Steam? If you do I would add at least another 12 or so levels, add achievements and the ability to use the arrow keys for movement and jumping.

There's also a free standing version of Whispering Willows directly from the developers site (Interact with the spirits of the dead, solve the puzzles of the mysterious mansion and help Elena find her missing father in the horror/adventure puzzle game: Whispering Willows.) and over on GOG you can get for a limited time the original Serious Sam: First Encounter HERE, (a high-adrenaline single-play and 16-player co-operative arcade-action FPS and Gamespot's Game of the Year 2001!) this is the original version and not the reskinned version; which in my opinion is actually much better than the newer HD version because you can still do rocket jump, and other stunts that are not possible in the newer version. The graphics are a little dated, but this does not take away from the game play. You can still find online cooperative games as well. The GOG version is free standing. Indie Gala are offering an excellent post apocalyptic car racing /shooting game called Death Track: Resurrection which was one of the first games I purchased on Steam back in 2009. The Indie Gala version is free standing.
