Nice try...

But the controls and the store need to be fixed...

10 thumbs down

This game was a little difficult when I first started, since I didn't know all the fishing terms when I read the FAQ. But after about an hour of tinkering with the program I ended up liking it.

Breaking lines was frustrating, and only being able to modify one thing, when visiting the store was found to be very annoying. However, the graphics are nice, and the music is relaxing.

I suggest there should be a breakdown of the all the types of fish to be expected in each of the 24 levels, which you get after reaching 6,000 point. I think a breakdown of all items from the shop would be helpful as well because there are so many bobs, bait spoons, bait, etc. that you can choose from.

A picture of a mouse or the keyboard, with the functions would also be nice.

Overall, I give the program a 8 out of 10, with most of the work needed in the instruction manual

Liked the graphics and the idea, took a while to figure out how to cast and reel in... but always break the line. I'm heavy dominant right hand, and finding it very difficult to run the left right keys with left hand while running the mouse with my right hand?? or maybe I'm missing something in the directions. After 30 minutes, I gave up. Game has a lot of potential, but need to be able to hook at least a few fish without going nuts in the beginning while learning how the program works..also tedious to buy things in the store.

black box and 100% cpu---exit game, retart. Repeat several times and it will come up working!!! Takes a few times to find all of it's parts I guess.

What a pain! 9 point + click to rebait line. Line constantly breaks, can see no way to ease line tension. Would not purchase. If the "okay" button was larger, it would be easier to click, hundreds of times over and over.

Hi all, just a tidbit. Everyone seems to be interested in Merscom's "Glyph" game...so I thought I'd go give the trial version a try. Then I tried to download it from the Merscom site....I got an "adware" virus threat notification from my NOD32 Anti-virus program. That's rather odd, since I have downloaded another game sometime last year from them, and no problem. Perhaps someone else might give it a try. Could be a false positive I guess, but I'm not willing to ignore unless someone else does give the trial version a try with no problems. Thanks.....Sandy, aka jennybenny ;)

I like this game but just the way it plays.

I caught a fish after using my broken english to Anerican dictionary.

Is it so impossible to find someone who speaks English to put the information up?

Here is how to play:
Aim the pole with the mouse, click and hold the line cast icon (far right of the screen) let go when the distance line is at it's longest.

Press your left mouse button to reel in (either to possition your bate or bring in a fish).

When you get a fish on the line hold your left mouse button (let up on the left mouse button when the tension gets about the middle of the green area).

Oh and while they are looking for that English speaker FIND ONE THAT HAS ACTUALLY GONE FISHING!

Why is this game called "Masterpiece Fishing 2" when it is version 3?
That other guy is right. On my Dell I can't go into "office mode"

I installed the game, but all I see is the loadingscreen and then....a big black square. I thought for a second, where are the fish I am supposed to catch, but then it got to me...the game doesn't work ( I'm blond so it takes a little while to figure that out, lol)
So , anyone any idea what the problem can be?

im gonna pass, sounds like it was maybe a good idea, something different, but the game play sounds unreasonable. Have been enjoying merson, though they do need better instructions, and desktop shortcut. Yeah, I make one myself, but it should be provided, most people don't know how to do that.

Ok here are some tips:

1. If your line breaks you have to get new line, new hook, new bait.
2. If you aren't catching anything make sure your store icon is GREEN. If not then go through step 1 to make sure you are all set.
3. Right Click reels in your line, LEFT CLICK LETS LINE OUT. It's the Left Click that will keep you from breaking your line.

I just spend the last 20 minutes figuring this out. If you keep breaking your line then give quick LEFT CLICKS to release line tension.

Enjoy,
Will the Computer Guy

I was a bit excited when I first saw this game offered. I have several friends that have paid for d/l of fishing games and they keep telling me to get one. I thought "Sweet! I can get one without paying the $20", but.. after reading all the reviews I was getting very leery of it.

Then I read VampireRat's review (#12). Thanks VampireRat! Your review was very straight forward and non-bias. After reading your review; I am back to wanting to give this one a chance. Worse case is I have to uninstall it.

#23; metalshop, you had me lol! Yet, wouldn't it be 'Brave Dwarves Gem Fishing Frenzy July Summer 2007 Adventure Pack'? *chuckle*

thanks for the laughs and reviews all!

I'll also add that the manual is rubbish and pretty hard to understand. And it's stupid you don't get points for putting fish back, fish should always be returned unless a game species like Trout or Salmon. And on what planet do they call a float a "bob"?
I've played it a bit though and it's not bad. But serious fishers should checkout Fishsim 2.

I don't even catch a fish anyway. The graphics and sounds are relaxing. It's more attractive as a kind of screensaver, for nothing happens. So in a scale from 0-10 I give the program 2 points.

I was SO excited when I saw it was a fishing game. I usually love them, but this game is crap from the get-go.
Wouldn't install right, finally after three tries it installed. Like the comments above and below, the instructions are ???? Hard to maneuver the rod, impossible to reel your fish in without breaking the line.
I hit the uninstall button PDQ on this piece of crap. What a disappointment.

The game was extremely slow to load... in the minimized state, the window was right in the middle of the screen and could not be moved. In an hours worth of "playing" the game, only hooked one fish and it broke the line.

I decided that the game was too slow and boring, so wanted to uninstall it, however there is no uninstall as part of the game, so forced to uninstall it manually.

This game had great potential... but failed miserably.

This looked interesting enough, but I couldn't get it to work for me. It downloaded and installed fine, but when I open it up I just get a black screen in the middle of my monitor, and the sound of birds chirping. No idea what kind of graphics card I have, or how to find out, but I guess it's not sufficient for this game, since I do have all the other required specs. Ah well!

well it sounded interesting enough i d/l setup was fine activated ok. runs very slow on my system. casting took several seconds to hit the water, realing was very slow game just seemed to be very slow. not worth the 20 bucks. i have trophy bass 2007 i think i will just stick to that one it was well worth the money i paid for it.

This has got to be one of the best since I started watching over the past month or so. No probs running the program.
#11 Just right mouse when the tension is too low and left mouse if tension goes to red. You can also left or right arrow to ease tension.
#5 You have to right click the little pond icon that shows on the desktop to re-maximise.
I also find it a little frustrating having to go back three times to fix a line break but is quicker than the real thing. Is a good program to teach my 4 year old patience before he goes to the real thing.
Can't wait to build up points and qualify to get thicker line and stop breaking so often and try other locations
Thumbs up from me.
Thanks GGAOTD

Fishing on a computer? Come ON, you say. But don't knock it until you have tried it. I grew up fishing - for real, but this still grabbed my attention and was just about as frustrating at times. It is good for something different.

I hope by now that Merscom knows that they must make their installs more professional so that they give you options to create a desktop icon and put the game on the Start menu if you want it. If you are new here, you should specify during installation where you want this program installed, and REMEMBER where it is. Then, you have to use Windows Explorer to find the program again, right-click on the game .EXE file, pull it out to the desktop, and select "Create a shortcut."

I have only played a little bit, but I have already lost 2 spoons and a bobber to broken lines. If you have too much tension on your line, it WILL break. Different fish will like different bait. The ones in the first scene will hit the spoon, but ignore the grubs, for instance. Now I WANT one of those suckers.

I had to dig into the Help file to learn how to cast. This should have been right up top, instead of under the table of all the critters. Had to go back to it when my line promptly broke at first to find out what to do. This should be expected and also be near the top. Just move the fish table to the bottom, Merscom.

Think I may fish a little more tomorrow. Thanks again GAOTD and Merscom

This game is so damn frustrating. Not only is there no tutorial, but the manual totally sucks. It hardly explains what control to use.

I managed to catch one fish and that's it. The last twenty times, the hook or line kept on breaking. And I have no idea what to do about it because of the useless manual.
