Fun game, however while playing it would be helpful to have some info.
1) Start info explaining how to use, and combine items. This took me some time to figure out.
2) The ability to click on found item and see name or detail on what it is.
3) Would also be nice to have some "hint" option for when stuck without having to just view walkthrough.

The graphics are very good for a low cost game.

Hi Whiterabbit, I missed the download so am trying to download it from Steam. This must be the most mystifying site ever. Although I set up an account, there's nowhere to download the game on the game page. I have downloaded the Steam program to laptop, but still nowhere to download. I found a place to add funds to a wallet, but I was hoping to trial the game first. Where can that be done?
Thanks!

Wendy,

Hi Wendy,
I've only just seen your comment, they have allowed it for another 34 hours. If you still miss it i will post something to help tomorrow. It's way past my bedtime.

I temporarily disabled my Avast, then installed the program without any problem (Win 7 x64). It is working fine, although I don't exactly know what I'm doing in it yet re: goals, etc., but the graphics are lovely, right-clicking often produces results, and we can minimize the window, which is excellent. I'm looking forward to figuring it out! Thank you, Starodymov and GAOTD! (P.S. The game lists a youtube page with a walkthrough.)

I have been downloading games from here for many years, and also use Avast. I simply open Avast and disable shields for 10 minutes when I am ready to install.

Me Again...I went ahead and re-downloaded it...turned off my Avast....unzipped game...installed fine..clicked gear ...choose the right flag for English (I hope)... started game but the first screen with letter the words jittered at super speed in different languages. How can I fix that??? ps thank you for responding to the PUP issue....Cynthia

unruly,

Try temporarily changing your screen resolution. If that fails to stop the jittering, go into compatibility mode, make sure admin is checked then by trial and error check the other boxes. To get it to English you need to click on the button that looks like a cog. This will open up the language screen Click on the Flag of your nation (All English speaking people are represented by the UK flag.

I hope this helps. I'll check back in the morning before the giveaway ends.

Much later......Checked :)

Am surprised there have been no complaints. Marsha is most definitely not in compliance with "diversity" requirements.

WIN32:Vsok_-A (PUP)....AVAST moved to Vault. First time I ever had a problem with a download from here . Hope you read this to fix or remove it. Would really like to have this game.

unruly,

Please read my reply to M.Davis. Avast was one of the only antimalware suites that did pick up this false positive (???), both yourself and M.Davis used the same suite, so you would expect to get the same.

unruly,

"AVAST moved to Vault.... Would really like to have this game."

Google comes up with this: getavast[.]net/support/virus-chest -- instructions on how to restore a quarantined file when it Avast detects a false positive.

Whiterabbit-uk, Avast was one of the only antimalware suites that did pick up this

"one of the" ...so there were others?
I read also the destruction of the WTC was "one of the" worst Manhattan building collapses in recent years. Of course there were others much worse, such as when Manny's Delicatessen got torn down.

My Avast virus cleaner would not allow installation of this game. It contains a virus. This is the first time this has occurred w/ any of your give aways. Thank you.

M Davis,

Hi M Davis, thank you for your comment.

I checked the downloaded zip file with Virus Total, which uses 60 different anti malware suites to check files. Once completed 3 of the 60 engines detected an adware code, but this is what you usually get with these games as they phone home to the site they were originally downloaded from, in this case Falcoware. there is no negative impact on your computer (see my closing comment at the end of this comment). The adware code is there to redirect your browser to their site, where they then earn money, part of which is paid to the developers of the games given away. This has become the norm' over the last several years. You'll find all the free games sites like MyPlayCity, FreeGamePick, TooMkyGames, Gametop and others do the same. It's basically a win win win for all parties concerned i.e. the developer, the middle man and the consumer. We all win using this method. Again, the adware is not a virus that infects your computer, its just a small amount of code that opens your browser to the home page so that they can pay the developers for allowing their games to be given away. If this was malware, we would be getting hits from all the big name anti malware suites as well as many of the others. 3 out of 60 is only 5% of the total, which would be considered insignificant. Still, its down to each community member to decide whether this is a risk.

You can see my Virus Total scan of the gamegiveaway version HERE

I also did a scan on my Steam version and it gives exactly the same result as the gamegiveaways games executable, showing 1 result out of 61 (Jiangmin security software {never heard of it} detected Trojan.Shelma.ahd) you can see that scan HERE.
After installing the giveaway version and following your comment and just to be sure that nothing was left on my computer, I did a scan of my operating system and main disk and no malware was found.
Finally, just to assure the community, the gamegiveaway team have been giving games away initially every day for over two years, then virtually every weekend since and since November 2018 two or three times during the week as well and they have never given a game away that was infected with malware. We have had many community members reporting malware, but they have always been false positives, as IMO today's is as well. I would appreciate comment son this and if possible if you have time [please research before installing to make sure. Thank you.

Masha Rescues Grandma

The Game:
Masha Rescues Grandma is a short and good looking point and click adventure game that is ideal for the whole family and incorporates several classic fairy tales that everyone will be familiar with.. For the usual Steam price (£2.79) it's an okay buy, for free a recommended download, especially if you like point and click adventure games. Some of the images included with this short review were taken from my Steam copy of the game. Comparing the two, I didn’t find any differences apart from todays giveaway being a stand alone game. You can complete this game in less than 15 minutes to around an hour, depending on how skillful you are at completing the mini games that are inter-dispersed among the main game.

The main mechanic is your inventory. when you click on a usable item it is automatically picked up and placed in youtrr inventory. to access your inventory, click on the small square panel located in the bottom left of the game screen. This opens up your inventoy. to use an item from your iunventory, click on it to move it to the action window that is located in the left colum. to return to the game to use the item click on the downward pointing blue arrow located in the right bottom of the game screen. Some items need to be combined to use them. this is accomplished by selecting the first item, then click on the combining icon that looks like four inward pointing arrows in a square cell. then click on the second item to be combined.
The game installs to C:\Program Files (x86)\Masha Rescues Grandma by default but can be changed to your preference. Once installed the games folder is 62.1MB in size. The installer and downloaded zip file can be deleted once the game has been installed. The game defaults to the Russian Language option when first booted up. To change to your language click on the third button which looks like a gear. This opens up a flag selection screen and includes Russian, English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, German, French, Romanian, Danish, Netherlands, Brazilian, Spanish, Italian and the Czech Republic in that order.
Masha rescues GrandMa is definiely one for the whole family to share. It has gorgeous graphics and the mini games are not that difficult. To progress you do need to complete each mini game as it is presented; so, if you get stuck, on one, there are plenty of walkthroughs available via You Tube. I’ve posted several walkthrough videos, so if you don’t want any spoilers don’t click on the links. :)

Check out the following links for details of other free games HERE (giveaway forums), HERE (Indie Gala freebies - recently updated), HERE (Steam freebies) and HERE (Epic Games freebies). The latest Epic games are now Celeste (a super-tight platformer from the creators of Tower Fall. Brave hundreds of hand-crafted challenges, uncover devious secrets, and piece together the mystery of the mountain) and Inside (an atmospheric puzzle platformer). The next free games (from Thursday 5th September late afternoon) will be The End is Nigh (a sprawling adventure platformer) and ABZU (a beautiful underwater adventure that evokes the dream of diving).
The free Steam key for Dirt: Rally ended last night, but you can still get it via the Humble Store for 80% off i.e. only £4.99. The sale ends tomorrow late afternoon (5th Aug PM) This is still one of my favorite Rally games ever. It's not as technical as the World Rally Championship v5 to 7 series of rally games, and more fun than Richard Burns, v-Rally 4
or Sebastien Loeb Rally and more arcade in game play style, but the game is challenging, has decent driving physics and takes you to some beautiful locations around the world. If you buy Dirt: Rally, another Rally game i commend is Dakar 18. See my post over in the forums to see some images and video of the game HERE.
