Installation Issues:

Magnetic Pairs downloads to a 47.5 MB zip file that unzips to three files, (a setup.gcd security wrapper the set-up file and a read me). The game installs to the following path by default, but can be changed if you wish. The installed game is 82.7 MB in size.

Five shortcuts are installed to the desktop, four of which can be safely deleted (i.e. Falco Space - Online Game!, FalconLine Online Games Website, FalcoGo WebGL Games! and Free Games Downloads!). If you don't want to install the games shortcut to the desktop during installation, just make sure the install desktop shortcut is unchecked when the 'additional task's window appears; you will still get two of the other Falcoware shortcuts installed (i.e. FalconLine Online Games Website & FalcoGo WebGL Games shortcuts). Also, if you don't like icons installed to the quick launch task bar, make sure you also uncheck the appropriate checkbox when the 'additional task's window appears (after the Select Start Menu Folder window).

The Game:

Magnetic Pairs is a simple to learn puzzle game where you have to remove pairs of same colored circular magnets from the game board. The first couple of levels are simple with no obstructions, later levels include moving rectangles that if hit by a magnet stop the pairing process. There are a limited number of moves you can make on each level, sometimes the number of moves is the same as the number of magnetic pairs. Which make sit difficult to complete if you make just one false move. Basically this game is about timing. To remove magnets that have a moving obstruction between them, there is very little room for error when clicking on the second magnet. Once you've clicked on the second magnet, the magnetic attraction causes the magnet with the furthest distance to travel (to avoid the moving obstruction) to move towards the other magnet. If you manage to remove all pairs in the allowed number of moves, you can progress to the next level. You cannot pair up magnets if a magnet of another color is obstructing them. That's all there is to this game.

Conclusion:

There's not much variety to this game. I found it became a little boring after playing several levels, despite some challenging levels. The later levels are much harder to complete in one attempt due to the number of moving obstructions and the need for precise timing and can become a little frustrating when you time after time just miss getting the magnets to pair up due to the moving obstructions and other magnets. I think some mini games and a level editor so that you could create your own levels would have improved this game a lot.
