You are a pupil of a school of magic. Along with your classmates, you are anxious to take the final exam. And right at this point, someone steals all the magic books from the school library. The dean is very sorry about this and is ready to issue a diploma without examination to anyone who finds and returns all the books. This is your chance to finish school. Don't blow it!

At each level you need to get to one of the magical books. But this is no simple task as you will disturb various obstacles and enemies. The only weapon of the protagonist is the ability to change the seasons. Levels can be changed for a season as many times as the hero's elixirs allow. To complete a level it's necessary to change the seasons in the proper sequence.

In Brief:
Magistry is another of those short Gamiron competition made games (Gamiron2) where the developer is given a theme and a time limit to create a working game.

It's a side scrolling platformer with a level map and a season changing mechanic. To be able to complete a level you have to change the season using the protagonists elixir. Watch out for obstacles and enemies.

Unfortunately It's unlikely I'll find time to play, then write up my thoughts on todays game. However, you can get the gist of the game by watching the short game play video HERE.

I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game using Virus Total and it found zero hits from 61 antimalware engines. You can see the scan HERE.

Not downloaded yet, but I can't help to notice that the graphics look totally like the average "Commander Keen" game from ages ago. Wonder if the play is the same? Have not seen the game since Windows 3.1

No todays game giveaway is nothing like Commander Keen, which was an amazing game for its time. I remember it fondly.

You can get a couple of the Keen games for free via abandonware sites; i.e., Commander Keen in "Aliens ate my Babysitter!" ( DOS - 1991) HERE and Commander Keen in Keen Dreams (DOS - 1991). Most of the titles are now sold by Good Old Games. You would need to use the DOSBox emulator which you can find HERE to get the game to work.

There's an old tutorial over in the Game Discussion sticky section that tells you how to use DOSBox HERE in conjunction with Norton Commander (which you can also get free)
