Thank you to all who contributed to this games comments. I would have completely forgotten this game, but after reading some of the later comments I reinstalled the game and was able to find objects thanks to the ability to 'look behind' objects. The game would have been better with a help page that told you you could zoom in and look behind objects as I didn't figure this out at all and initially deleted the game.

Stay safe everyone

I tried a 2nd time to do the game, and I still encountered items that are IMPOSSIBLE to click on! No wonder the game is being given away on a free site! The old graphics wouldn't bother me if the game would just function properly.

Oh and I didn't state this before. Windows 7, 64-bit. Installed just fine..it's just glitchy.

DelennDax7, Okay, I owe it to this game to amend my opinion. When you double-click to zoom in, you can move your mouse around to change the perspective..and it actually looks 3Dish in that you can see the "hidden" things more clearly so you CAN click on them. And I actually switched to the timed mode. I'm up to Mission 5. I redid all the parts of each mission until I got 3 stars - YES, IT'S DOABLE! The game just needed to explain itself better..that's all.

Well, I'm frustrated with this game after only 10 minutes. I passed the first task with 3 stars, but the 2nd task requires me to memorize some items before they disappear and then find them hidden in the scene. I clicked to get a hint and I clicked all over the area it claimed I could find an object. I clicked the hint a 2nd time and it hinted at the same area. Again, I repeatedly clicked all over the area. There seemed to be no click penalty, but I just gave up. I'll probably uninstall the game.

DelennDax7, you get two tries to find the 3 items before the screen reshuffles. I found that you can usually spot two of them on the first try and the third on the second try. It's a small enough grid that the locations are easily memorized if you go about it systematically.

Listen. I love Hidden Object games. However by today's standards this offering is very low res, very difficult to find certain objects in the scenes, even when you double click to zoom into the picture. It just suffers from very low quality graphics which makes the game non enjoyable.

LittleBear,

I gave up on the second scene after trying to get the heart, which was behind a sponge. The collision mesh was too small to grab the heart, so I couldn't proceed Also couldn't find the bottle.spent around 15 minutes trying to get this scene completed. no deal, so deleted. got too many of this type anyway. I hope all is going well with your development house?

Edit:

After reading later comments, I probably would have been able to get the heart (I didn't realise two clicks would allow you to peep behind the sponge/anemone), on trying again, found that the hidden objects change when you replay the same level. That does add to the replayability.

Never a fan of match 3 games but hopefully the HOG side will make it enjoyable.

Wow, on the second round, it would not acknowledge a click on and object, no matter how many ways I tried. I used 2 hints to try to get past it and I couldn't. Didn't have much of a chance to try it out.
It was what looked like a glass ball, but would not take it. Disappointed.

Julie, Sometimes I have the same problems with other older games. I would change the resolution option to original. Then it would work. I didn't download this game since there are so many negative comments.

Julie, I managed to get that one: if I recall, it was one of those objects where you had to zoom in to be able to click on it, even though it's visible from the main view. :(

So, today's GGOTD is an undersea-themed HOG with mini-games which are stated as being "jigsaws and match three."

Al though Toomky say that there are different types of HOG scenes, all their screenshots show "collect several of …" type HOG scenes. If you got Alexandra Fortune: Lunar Archipelago when it was a GGOTD recently, Magic Ocean looks to have similar gameplay, though obviously in a different setting.

It looks like Magic Ocean is free on the Toomky Games site as well, but with optional toolbars etc. (which I would imagine most people would decline) during installation.

I haven't tried this one yet, but I hope that gives you a bit more of an overview than the "blurb" above!

Thanks as always to the GGOTD team and Toomky Games for today's GGOTD.

An update after playing it myself (and before reading the other comments here!).

Firstly, I did like the "double-click to zoom" then drag around to look "behind" other objects. It gave me a real feeling of being underwater somehow. Likewise, I found that clicking the fish that swim by chases them away — important if you're lurking near an oyster to get its pearl when it opens!

Talking of which, it seems that some oysters keep on producing pearls each time they open, while others are one-offs: next time they open, they're empty. A good tactic if you really can't see an object is to use a hint, then lurk beside the oyster until it next opens, so you can generally keep two hints available at any time.

The main (mild) turn-offs for me were the same HOG scenes being repeated with no apparent "moving around" of objects, making it kind of easy to work a level next time around, if you have a half-decent memory; but more importantly, something isn't quite right with the mouse handling in this game.

After double-clicking and then panning around, the pointer can get "stuck" in some odd mode where it's no longer possible to click on objects. A second double-click usually fixed that. Also, I've foundafter using a hint, it seems to take three or four seconds after the twinkle disappears before you can actually click on the object highlighted to collect it! Just give it a few seconds before you collect it and it will work.

Sometimes you do have to zoom in before the game allows you to collect an object, and sometimes you do have to move the scenery around to see enough of the object to click on it.

Maybe one or more of those observations will help others who can't collect certain objects? I hope so. Personally, I've been able to collect everything needed so far — once I'd figured out the irritating mouse behaviour and how to rectify it (after much frantic clicking and double-clicking!).

I found some objects could not be clicked on even though they should have been. And even though I had 15 stars on the first phase, it only registered 13. I needed 15 to move on.
The game appears to be a match-3 but it's mainly an HOG.

The game downloaded and installed fine under Windows7. It looks to be a pretty basic hidden object game. The locations are given to you five at a time, called a 'mission', and after you earn enough stars (1-3 per location, dependent on your solving time I think) you can move on to the next mission of five locations. There's some effort at variation: sometimes you're given a list of the names of the objects to find, sometimes a silhouette of the object, sometimes a black and white image of the multicolored item, etc. In addition there are 'memory trainer' screens. One was a fairly classic 'find the matching cards' version, with a 7 by 5 grid of cards. But you are only shown a set of three objects, then the faces of all the cards for a few seconds, and then you must click on the exact three cards. If you get one wrong, it flips the cards again for a few seconds, and you try a second time. If you blow it again, it shuffles the locations of the cards and you continue trying. You may have to find two or three sets of targets in the screen, though the later ones are easier because the now empty slots help pin down t he locations. Finally, and worse, there was a hidden object location where they showed you some number of target images (maybe six or seven?) and then blanked them away. From that point on you had to find the hidden objects by memory. In my case that meant after I found the items I remembered they'd shown, I simply had to click around randomly on everything that possibly could be a hidden object, like "oh, there's a candelabra, maybe that's one." Very frustrating.
Also, there must not be a very large number of possible targets, since I played just two missions, ten locations, and by then almost half of the items each time were repeats from earlier.
You can earn hints by clicking on pearls inside oysters that open for brief times. There also a sort of 'zoom', that lets you use a sort of parallax effect to find objects that are simply invisible in the normal view, due to being hidden behind parts of the scenery.
There may be more types of screens, but by the end of the second 'mission' I was more than eager to delete this game from my computer. YMMV.

I got "Failed to Connect" as well. It happened last weekend and I kept trying. It was late in the day when I finally connected to game giveaway and it installed okay. Keep trying - it will work eventually.

Trying 2 B Helpful, I believe that most often happens in the early rush of everyone trying to download & activate. My very slow system just made it thru with no problems. Give it another try?

Please excuse the lack of any reviews since Monday 25th. I've been really busy with legal stuff and other projects. Should be back soon-ish, but probably won't be posting reviews this weekend. but I will be moderating still. Stay safe everyone.
