This has got to be the one of the biggest timewasters out. I keep waiting for the levels to get harder but nothing changes. Level 30 and the program still puts me to sleep. Final verdict: dreadful.

Love the game, Activated and loaded ok. comment #34, I got through level 42 no problem, couldn't find any glitch.

I think the "thumbs up" and the "thumbs down" would be extremely different if ALL comments were added. Considering there appears to be more users who could not access the download than those who could. Maybe you should note that the results you show are based on those who could actually get to the game. But, hey, it's your website, your product. You get to do what you want with it. Spread the word? Well, maybe.... someday.

We tried & tried to access the site yesterday, finally when we got through there were only 6 comments (none of which was from WhiteRabbit, so I know there was a problem), on early & mid afternoon, than in the evening till past midnight.
And of course, despite many attempts, it was IMPOSSIBLE to dwld the game!!
What happened??

I would like to see it offered again. I know that won't be great with everyone, but some of us could not get it.

Anytime I see an Alawar game here, I download it. Love Aquaball, Treasure of Montezuma; not too thrilled with this game. Not challenging enough for me, but my 7yo really enjoys playing this one. I'm surprised at the amount of thumbs up vs. thumbs down, yet so few comments...

Pretty good, had no trouble installing or running it. I did however see a bug where a ball got stuck in a wall.

This looks great. Like a lot of fun. Wish I could try it. The primary download site comes back with an error saying something about the node not being on this server. The mirror site times out. It takes about 20 minutes to time out. Which is amazing in itself. Generally it takes about five minutes for me to get a download option screen. So, if I think I'd like to check it out I try once. If it looks like I'd really, really like it, I try twice and sometimes three times. Then I give up. Have better ways to spend my time. Yes, it's free which is pretty cool but, but even free has it's limits. I wouldn't wait 20 minutes to meet Paris Hilton. Ohhhhh, now there's a bad analogy. The President? I digress!

I love this game. I went out and bought it.

Update ! Anyone here who is running XP will run into a constant crashing of the game. Matter of fact you never make it to the game itself. I just tried compatibility mode under windows 2,000 and it will work.
So anyone with XP that may have said forget about this in my other post after reading it.
I can tell you, it now works. It's a bug that AlaWar should either fix or at least pass this information along about the compatibility mode issue.

I d/l this and LOVE it. Have had no problems with virus warnings on activation. What a fun twist on some old favorites. Thanks guys.

vista home premium wont activate ,will download then give me a box with three things set up activate and what do I do about this ,I want this game.

#6 there is NO virus in the program, so if you did in fact get a virus from somewhere, it wasn't from here.
Get a decent AV program, and don't assign blame where there is no factual evidence of it.

#3 there is no time limit for providing feedback, you can always go back to the date of the software offering and post comments.

Wont work period ! All it does is crash before it will even open. I downloaded this off both of the downloads offered here and neither matters. It crashes before the game opens. XP home/ SP 2 I have Magic ball 3 and works great.
Matter of fact all my AlaWar games work. Something is off and I can tell you for fact, it's not on my end.
I've been working on computers for over 5 years.

I have never had a game on this web site that was given away by alawar that did not activate and run . I got the magic ball three here and it is still going stong and I ahve palyed for many hours .

nothing but praise for ALawar and their products , I had most of the magic ball games except I lost the magic ball two when I had a crash and could not get it back , I am so pleased with Alawars games that I may be biased a tad , but it is sinple when they produce good games. this one has so many levels you don't get tired of it to quick . it has different graphics and it is true 3d so that is a plus ,well worth the price offered for . keep up the good woirk Alawar !

Very nice game since i missed this one when it was offered but do have 3 :) No problems installing on win xp home edition and played great only thing i would ask alawar is to make the games window mode if possible:) No virus noted here when installing and i have mine running 24/7 .

Good one Alawar! I think the animated animals with sounds are a hoot.

This game consists of a field of blocks built into scenes . At least in the early levels there are animals that make occasional noises on top - penguins, moose, sheep etc. You control a paddle with your mouse or joystick (if you have one) to bounce a ball and break the blocks one by one. Sometimes prizes drift towards you and if you catch them you get different changes to you ball(multiples, exploding) or paddle(wider, catch and release where you want it). There are special prizes(Heart/broken heart=life/lost life) and various weapons to shoot the towers. If you get down to just a few blocks, a magic token heads down and it will end the level if you decide to skip the points.

There is no window mode but you can choose screen size and there are good options for sound, video and paddle control. The F keys can be accessed during the game to control changing the music, the angle of the game board and more.

This I had Magic Ball I (I think) and tired of it so uninstalled . This next version is much improved. If the previous giveaway of this one here on GGotD was indeed the Magic Ball II with an upgrade - very cool.

Once again thanks to the Alawar team and GGotD. This one's a keeper.

HOW TO ACTIVATE*******#3 Jimmy****** If all else fails read the file that says "READ ME" that comes with the download. The game must be "activated" to get the full version. This works like a "key" when you buy a game. Pay attention to where you download the file. When you unzip it, click "Activate" before you click "SETUP". You'll be opening page on GameGiveawayoftheDay that says "You have successfully activated Magic Ball II". Good luck!

I did find one thing that I thought was strange. At the end of my game my first and last name where listed on the highscore list. I have never entered my last name in this game so how did it know it to be able to list it? That may be the virus that has been mentioned.

This game downloaded and installed fine for me. An earlier comment (#3) referred to time limits imposed. I am assuming he means a trial version instead of a full version. This can happen if you do not download it properly. It has happened to me if I fail to use both activation keys. What I mean is, you click on one activation icon to download the install software and then you need to click on another activation icon to activate the registeration software. Then you click on the setup icon to install the game. I hope this helps anyone who gets a trial version instead of the full version.

I am not fond of breakout style games but I don't mind this one. I will keep it in my game file as someting to play when I am bored. It is similar to Neoball that was offered here a while back. I don't play that one often since I still haven't mastered all the match 3 games that I have downloaded lately. I think this game is worth the download if you like this style of game.

By the way, I enjoyed MagicBall 2 for a distraction and relaxing. I think my wife would enjoy it more and I'm sure kids would like it.
IMHO, this series shows a lot of creativity and imagination.

Aussie (#6): If you are using Avira AV, it is probably the same malware warning I received yesterday. I ran the file through an online multiple malware checker (http://virusscan.jotti.org/) and Avira was the only one who found anything. IMO, it is a false positive and I will be ignoring it. It is up to you to decide what you want to do, but I trust GAOTD would not put malware in their Activate files.

#6, When you say you got a virus, do you mean that your anti-virus told you there was a virus? If so, chances are it is a false positive. Otherwise, you probably already had a virus on your machine. If you do not already have a virus, I would try to activate and then install again. I just activated and installed with no problems.
#4, Did you do the custom install? It worked for me (I always put my start menu games shortcuts into the Games folder in the Start menu.) I just checked and it was there. Perhaps try installing again.
On a side note, I was having install problems last week, and had to restore my system to an earlier date to resolve the problems. Having said that, I would only consider doing that if the problems were pervasive.

You HAVE TO USE THE "ACTIVATE" FIRST. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. After the Message comes up that the Game was sucessfully Activated, THEN click on your SETUP. That way you Will get the Free Version Game, and Not the Time Limited Version.

NOTE: After waiting for the Activate after double clicking it, you will be transported to the page that says OK, I've activated it, now what?, just close it and continue with the Setup Button, after using the Activate button.

I play the registered version of Ricochet Infinity (with hundreds of levels) round the clock. I got Magic Ball 2 for the kids to play. They love the colorful graphix and the "boom" sound fx when the ball hits the items. In the options menu you can change the speed of the mouse in relation to the game so it's faster or slower for the kids to maneuver easier. All in all I love Alawar games. There have a variety of games for the kids and the adult kids like me. LOL! Thanks Alawar and GGAOTD!

I thought this had been given away here before, but I only had MBall 1 and 3. Now I have the set. :) IMHO, this one is much better than MBall 1. In fact, I like it almost as much as MBall 3.

It started up originally in 800x600 mode, but I liked it better at 1024x768.

I think it is an excellent 3D breakout game that isn't too difficult to play, but is cute and varied enough to keep it interesting.

Works perfectly on Vista.

The 42nd level has a glitch. The rocket that has to be hit is too high for the ball. Does the game have to end here?

This 'breakout' game is way too slow to be entertaining. My suggestion would be Ricochet Lost Worlds by Reflexsive Arcade. Much more entertaining and action packed.

Bought this game a number of years ago for $8, still great today.

It crashes when trying to change the resolution, but if I open params.txt in and manually change it
C:\Program Files\Alawar\Magic Ball 2\params.txt
It changes, except when I try to set it to 1600x1200
resolution field
0 - 640x480
1 - 800x600
2 - 1024x768
3 - 1152x864
4 - 1280x960
5 - should be 1600x1200, but the game reverts to 800x600 - lame!

This is how the resolution goes on my pc... if you have a Widescreen monitor and they were semi-intelligent when coding it, it will go by your available Windows resolutions - but I'm guessing it doesn't.

Another Breakout clone from Alawar... They're all reasonably good, but enough already!

It happened with yesterday's package too when I clicked on activate.

The game is a lot of fun and well-made. It reminds me of one of my favorites, Strike Ball. The only problem I can see is that if this was a $20 game two years ago, as Larry B. claims in comment #5, I can't see expecting people to pay $20 for it now.

Correction - it did create the shortcuts where I told it to put them. I just had a typo (my '\' was in the wrong place and I couldn't find them. I have moved them to where I thought I told it in the first place. Shortcuts are the easiest things to move unless you have to play with the copies in the user area! Then you have to move one and delete the (now empty) folder in the other location.

I still have not been able to adjust the screen resolution. The program just stops if I increase it and I'm not about to decrease it! I tried to change the compatibility and it didn't affect anything. I tried to re-install using "Run as Administrator" and that didn't work. I even tried to "Run as Administrator" to actually play the game to see if that would allow me to set it (I have to do that for Solitaire Master 2 to write the stats).

Note - Don't try playing the game as administrator! Unless you have activated as administrator, you only have the 60 minute trial this way. If you activate as administrator, you do have the full game (still not ability to affect the screen resolution) but the load is VERRRRY slow! I'll just run at 800 X 600. At least I can get that part to work.

I recommend this one. A fine 3D breakout.

A friend gave this game to me a couple of years ago, I still play it occasionally.

I like the power-up's better than the one's in Magic Ball 3, 'cause in this version some power up's are combined. The graphics of this version are of a lesser quality than Magic Ball 3, but the gameplay really makes it up.

It's not without bugs, i.e.; the game has several levels with 'teleport spots'. When the (only) ball (left on an almost empty playing field) hits such a port and appears elsewhere on the field and bounces back in a way it hits the teleport spot again, the ball could be trapped in an infinite loop. (Although it might not be infinite; it sure is for an annoyingly long period of time, enough to restart or quit the game.)

The collision detection is not perfect. You will see balls going through blocks without any effect on the blocks in question; they remain intact.

Some playing fields make it impossible to catch the ball with the bat. (Can happen in the round shaped fields and when the ball bounces back to you to the utmost left or right corners; the bat can't reach those corners.)

Small bugs though, there's more than enough fun still left in the game to make it playable and enjoyable.

I've got magic ball 3 and love it. And #3, there is no time limit. Once you activate it, it's yours to play from then on! The phrase "limited time offer" is that they are offering it FREE for today only for downloading and activating it!
