I found this game really dire to play and somewhat daft in it's prespective. Considering that Realore can produce very good games, I'm not 100% sure why they actually bothered with this one.

This is a great game but it tends to crash in xp. I posted the solution on the forums so if any one is having problems and still monitoring these comments check out the mad cars post.

This game wiped out my desktop picture. I played it and when I finished and exited my desktop pic was gone just a gray screen left. I have tried to bring it back many ways, but it is still gray.Has anyone else had this problem or a cure for it? I have clicked on the pic and selected desktop background, I have restarted my pc. I can only do a restore now if someone out there cant help me. I tried restarting and exiting the game also. Still a blank gray desktop. I still have my icons. Please help. I will try anything. Thanks.

This is actually the first time i posted a comment lol but here goes.
#32 in the readme it says that the copyright is 2003-04 so ya its kinda old. and as far as i can tell it is kinda a cross between duke nukem 3d (for people that havent heard of duke nukem its a kinda old game low graphics and pretty good storyline) and wacky wheels (another apogee game and very very low graphics) and if any1 wants a more recent comparison ill say kinda like spyhunter. I havent played it yet but im just looking through the readme and that is what i came up with. If im wrong then... :P

I like this game...however it keeps crashing (WinXP MCE). I have re-downloaded and re-installed 3 times. Wish it would keep running, because it really is fun!

yeah it's a nice game... For all you guys who remember, it's some kind of a "Death Rally" (the 1996's Apogee game) clone, only far far away from being as great or addictive as DR was!
I would highly recommend Death Rally, but being an old DOS game it might be hard to get it working fine, even in a DOSbox... but if you wanan try, DR is MUCH better!

Yes, stay away from Justfreegames.com AT ALL COSTS! They'll put spyware on your computer up the wazoo! Trust me, I fell victim recently after seeing this advertised on Warcry.com.

Gave this one a good try, but will be uninstalling.

Installed and ran fine but only changing options is mouse controlled, everything else is keyboard only. Two player mode requires Player 1 to use arrow keys and Player 2 to use W,A,S,& D keys. Enter to fire bullets, Esc to go back to menu, and few other keys to remember.

To steer right or left requires simultaneously holding up arrow key to go forward at the same time which is awkward. (If the up arrow key is released then the right and left arrow keys won't steer the car.)
Also not many levels.

A lot of fun! This game is great. A little old, not very many levels, but great handling and a fun concept. Does anyone know if you get more levels for this thing?

Re: #25

Supposedly the justfreegames site has cleaned itself up after numerous complaints, can't say for sure as never downloaded from them.

But if the only place you're getting the info is from McAfee SiteAdvisor then take it with a grain of salt. ("Be skeptical", for those whom first language is not English.) McAfee Site Advisor is known for false positives on some sites and some very odd false negatives on others.

For example, McAfee SiteAdvisor rates doubleclick net and fastclick net as "green" (meaning safe) sites when everyone knows those two set some pretty nasty tracking cookies. Just about every spyware and adware program will flag either site's cookies for immediate removal, and even Microsoft doen't consider those sites safe. Yet McAfee SiteAdviosr rates both as "green" ...go figure.

Well, not absolutly bad but not that good neither.
Allows a windowed mode but the size of the window is riduclous. Must have been programmed when a 640x480 was the top of the top in screen estate...
Is it really serious to offer us games that old ?
I cannot beleive that game is still sold at $20. Probably they up the price just before offering it to GAOTD ...

This mentioned site WAS dangerous, because every game contained spy-program (New.net domain). Now all games are free from such useless program addition.
Besides all, firewall Agnitum Outpost could find and delete New.net. So… Be carefull, but world changes and spy-prog has been deleted from install packages.

I’m sorry if something wrong, but I really like software and game and would like to help other people to find useful and helpful progs.

Anyone remember Death Track? Ahh those were the good ole days.

So are there any games (shareware or commercial or freeware) with cars, upgradable weapons anymore? I'm going to try out this one, but I'd like to know if there's other decent ones. There was one called interstate 66 or some such I think, which was ok, but I still prefer the good ole Death Track dos game.

#14: For me it works fine with Windows MCE, even on a multi monitor setup.
I don't really like these kind of games, I prefer puzzles.
Still to all the 'complainers':
If I find just one game I like here every 2 weeks, that's 1 in 14. That's about the same percentage I find in the stores, where I have to pay for it.
Thanks for this great service GOTD team!

#13, #10 was referring to GeneRally, a popular single or multiplayer (playable online or off) freeware racing game with a levels editor, forum, and user submitted levels.

It is a popular game but check out the screenshots at http://generally.rscsites.org/screenshots.shtml

The graphics are nowhere near those offered by the Realore's Mad Cars. But anyone who missed (and wanted) Tiny Cars might give GeneRally a try.

I would also like to mention one nice site (freeware games as well), where two rally games can be downloaded:
Link:
www.Justfreegames.com
Games:
1) KGB_Hunter.exe
2) Mad_Truckers.exe
...and one more game from other site - HighwayPursuit. Simple, but...

This seems to very closely resemble "Death Rally", which was a classic top-down car racer with weapons published by Apogee in 1996. Still, that was a great game, so I'll certainly give this a try.

Hey at least were getting a full version even if it's not the latest one. (I use version traker as well...brilliant software and updater.) The only difference is going to be in some insignificant tweaks or slight improvements in the user interface (probably). I'm happy to get any version if it's being given away free. Thank you GoTD team and Realore for giving away so many games. I will be checking out the Realore site as well often.

Just installed mad-cars and performed online upgrade check and it reports:
"MAD CARS version checker

Your version of Mad Cars: 1.04
The latest version of Mad Cars: 1.06

The current version of the game is newer than yours. Please download the updated version of Mad Cars here"
Will it be the full version if we upgrade to the current version or is the ggaotd version a special version just for you guys?
