It doesn't properly capture the mouse or track with the acceleration settings used by the mouse driver (Win10). I have two screens, and the system mouse is constantly ending up on the second screen while the game mouse is still in the game, so when you click, the system mouse clicks you out of the game. You have to quickly swipe one way and slowly drag it back to get the system mouse somewhere near the game mouse, click to return focus to the game, and then go on. Repeat that about once a minute, makes for a much longer game than it should be, and much more tedious.

Hi!
I had same problem at others asking for the dll. If it were the old days wouldn't care,
but with all advances with computers it should not happen in 2018. I tried a couple
of fixes and still did not work, so giving up. Second time of recent, so becomes
frustrating! Thanks for all advice etc.
Hope have a good week.

Download and install without error on Win10 Home 64bit.
Graphic is ok on Radeon but I have question regarding sound.
I hear music and characters talk but whenever Uncle comes up there's no
talking voice at all while music is still going on.

Game downloaded and installed without problem, and appears to run. Howver it does not center on the screen, does not display items that have been picked up, and has no way to exit or close - I have to go to Task Manager to close it. I tried shutting it down and restarting but it remains the same. So essentially it is unplayable on a Windows 10 system.

Installed fine on W7.

I like the game so far.

In the 'find the object' section: Usually the 'combined object' puzzles are just finding the two pieces - like the 'framed picture' or the 'hookah' in this one. Needing to find the two movie reels and then starting the projector to find the flag was a new twist - nicely done.

It kind of bugs me when the missing key, or missing wire or gear or some such is in a flat out weird place. I forget the game now (not this one) but a piece for a leaky steam pipe in the alley across the street was in a wall safe in 'my' apartment. Seriously? This one so far has been ok - but the ball of yarn being in the desks secret compartment is on the edge.

I tried typing Felix as the password for a few tries - ah well.

It looks like the

Downloaded and installed on Windows 10 64 bit just fine. Played for about 1/2 hour. Seems to be more story oriented than HOG and the HO scenes are not always the normal type. Also seems to have more problems to solve than HOG time. It's OK and thanks for the free game, but this is not my favorite type of HOG.

Downloaded on Win 7 Professional with no problems. Installed smoothly and had no issues. I started playing it and love the crisp clear graphics. The only problem I ended up having is that when I was going to stop for now, hitting ESC did nothing. I had to ctrl/alt/delete to bring up task manager and clicked end process. No other way to get out that I could find. Other than that, I love the game so far. Thank you!

I had to change the size to 640x480 by right clicking the shortcut and changing compatability, then it worked.Otherwise it was off center.

Fine Windows 10 x64 Pro. Has option sliders & a WIDE choice if want full screen w/o side banners. Music is ok enough that I left it run & forgot all about it but fits the mood (s). Good point & click, HOG, story flow. Another good keeper. Hope everybody do well enough and thanks again GOTD.

I was leery of even trying this since so many folks were having issues, but I do love my HOG/adventure games, so gave it a shot. Installed fine, and I decided to put engine.exe in Win 7 compatibility mode (building on the lesson learned with the frustrating Reflection game last week) and it's running fine so far. I might not have even needed to do this, but figured, what the heck? (I have Win 8.1, not 10, but it's worth a try for those who have Win 10).

The game is VERY old (2003) and a bit slow (how long does it take to read one sentence?) but it's so far just fine as a diversion for a Sunday morning! Honestly, while newer games of this genre do sometimes have more bells and whistles, since I play them to figure out the puzzles/mysteries, old doesn't bother me at all. I do wish there were also the brain-teaser kind of puzzles often interspersed with these kind of games and that adds a variety missing here. But overall, definitely worth trying.

It installed easily as usual, but will not run. Its coming up with the error "The program cant start because MSVCP100.dll is missing from your computer." First time this has happened! I'll try installing it again... Nope, it still coming up with the same error. Could it be because I'm installing it on a different drive from Windows?

Lynn,
Hi, scrall down to WR's Presentation where direct link to MyPlayCity is given and try to d/l Setup from there? Might work, good luck:) I said in earlier comment that Installation from MPC is 'clean', so no unchecking boxes e.t.c.

Hi, Lynn,
The same here (64bit Win7Pro).
D'loaded setup from MyPlayCity and installed in default directory, i.e. C:\Program Files (x86) , still the same error?

Will not run on my Win 10 system either. This seems to happen a lot with these free games. The last 3 have either not run or crashed part way through or stopped my computer requiring a hard reset to get it going again

Peter, I had the same problem with last week's "Behind the Reflection, Witch's Revenge. I right clicked and brought up the menu, and clicked "Troubleshoot Compatibility". When it finished, it came up with a recommended setting. Then I played the game with no more problems.

Had to go into the program properties by right-clicking on the desktop icon. Then going to the compatibility tab & checking the "Override high DPI scaling behavior."
The problem was the main screen of the game was to large to fit my display screen. There was no exit button at the bottom & part of the screen ran off my display to the right.

If you have a slow internet connection be sure to download today’s game early. It’s almost half a gigabyte in size. I’m away all day, but will endeavor to moderate comments when I return late in the evening. Thank you for all your kind comments. I haven't had the time to reply individually; didn't return home until after midnight and am exhausted. No changes with my father; Michelle is slowly recovering, but still not whole.

The Game:
Lost Civilization, originally released by Phoenix Online Studios’ follows a slightly nonsensical story through the beautiful city of Prague to the darkest corners of Mayan civilization. Combining both adventure gaming elements and simple logic puzzles with hidden object scenes, it falls under the interesting “adventure-lite” genre.
You play as Sarah, a graduate archaeologist student who is on the hunt for a mysterious gateway to an undiscovered land. She follows hot on the heels of her boyfriend, Michael, who has sadly been kidnapped by some strange mystery criminal types, clearly with their own agenda for the archaeological find. Along the way you will find yourself tapping around numerous environments, solving bizarre but simple puzzles and meeting various strange characters. The game is fairly casual, and its handy hint system means that there’s really no chance of getting stuck no matter the mode you initially choose. Disappointingly, it also means that there’s not much here for adventure puzzlers to get truly stuck into, as each of the puzzles seem quite disjointed and fail to really make much sense.
What’s true is that unusual puzzles of this nature have been around since the dawn of time, and casual gamers will probably enjoy it just for what it is - a simple natured puzzle game with a fairly “average” storyline. There’s always fun to be had though, whether it’s scaring pigeons with firecrackers or breaking and entering by distracting a guard. There’s no reason to sit around in confusion here, everything is fairly obviously marked out or hinted at, and the game itself will only set you back a few hours.

Perfectly suited for fans of hidden object games, Lost Civilization manages to keep things fresh by employing a new mechanic of searching through the “useless crap.” Every so often, you’ll be tasked with matching two items together and be prompted to search the environment from top to bottom to get to the bottom of a puzzle and retrieve a “useful” item in turn. It makes no sense, sure, but it certainly is a breath of fresh air compared to the usual scramble for missing items. As someone who doesn’t usually enjoy hidden object games, it added something different to the mix.
Where Lost Civilization earns major points is its top-notch quality graphics and beautiful painted environments. Every scene is greatly detailed and colored to a remarkable degree, enough to make you realise just how much effort has gone into the artwork of the game. There’s also the occasional voice acting, however, it’s far too sporadic to warrant an opinion.
All in all, Lost Civilization is a gentle gaming experience, perhaps aimed at the majority of families or the younger generation of gamers. We don't post many of these hidden object games around here, but Lost Civilization seems to be a cut above the rest.

Problems getting the game to work:
If you're having problems installing or activating or getting Lost Civilization to work please visit the FAQ's Thread HERE and read through the communities comments because sometimes fixes have already been posted, for example, a common issue seen since the Themida wrapper was introduced three years ago is that some community members installation of the game is blocked by their security (usually an error message is flagged for example 'The executable is corrupted' even though in reality it is not) because Themida code has been known to hide malware, so as a precaution some anti malware programs will block and even delete the suspect installation files even though they are actually free from malware. This issue can be solved either by rebooting your computer in safe mode with networking or a quicker method is to temporarily turn off your security software to allow the installation. In the almost 11 years theis game giveaway site has been operating there has 'never' been a game given away that was infected with malware.
If for any reason you want to contact the giveaway team, for example, you have a game to offer the community, or are unable to download the latest game or other issues that the FAQ's thread or these comments don't cover or solve you can do so HERE
