The program does not work on Windows 11. Have tried on two systems. It freezes up on one and never locks on the second. Tried Windows 7 compatibility mode with no success. I'm not sure how others are able to get this program to work.

My computer is Windows 11 fully updated.

Downloaded and installed. Game would not start, went straight to the "thanks for playing" webpage. I took compatibility all the way back to Windows 8 with administrator privileges. Would not play. I uninstalled.

Thanks anyway, GotD. I do still appreciate you guys.

Consensus on Steam seems to be that this is a good looking, beginner's level hidden object/puzzle game. May be too simple for HO fanatics, but if you're a newbie, may be the perfect way to get your feet wet and probably good for children too. Plot is a mystery, but doesn't seem to be depressing or creepy. Plot has a sci-fi "ancient mysteries" bent, with a touch of Indiana Jones. Some mentioned that the Latin American setting is not the most accurately researched, so you might want to play some with the kids to let them know of anything that's a bit inacurate. Useful download for many, though. Thanks GGOTD and Icarus.

Is anyone else having problems getting the keyboard and mouse to work with this game under Windows 11?

Um ... the Setup program for Lost Civilisation is in German., not the usual English?! But, the game itself IS in English.

The game itself IS in English, but VERY annoyingly, there is no separate volume control for the speech GRRRR!!! And personally, I find the narrator's whiny American accent REALLY grating. She seems to have something to say after almost every action. :( But weirdly, during cut-scenes talking to someone else, she's silent.

One of my pet hates is games which play their "title music" once loaded, EVEN IF you have killed ALL sounds in the Options. And this is one of those games.

And, when run in a window, a little of the bottom of the window is cut off and this makea dialogue shown at the bottom of the window harder to read: looks like someone forgot to account for the height of the window's title bar ...

Incidentally, the default player name is Suzanne because that's the name of your character in the game.

The game itself is the usual HOG fare; often the game will spell out PRECISELY what you need to do. But when it suggests examining "something" more closely, you are not told where that "something" is; it could be several locations away! There's no Map function either, so all movement is one location at a time.

I am finding the game vacillates between "really easy" and "really difficult," and there are quite a lot of "put this where it belongs" locations, which I have never liked. I've only found one mini-game so far, so I can't judge the difficulty of those yet, except to say that first one is relatively easy.

The graphics are really well done and give a great atmosphere IMHO.

Overall then, Lost Civilisation is a decent enough HOG and worth adding to your collection. Thanks to Toomky Games and GGotD for today's giveaway.
