15 000 Steam keys were grabbed within the first six hours of the Last Survivor giveaway earlier this month (1st Dec) and thousands more were given away (don't know the exact number, but I think it was several thousand) later that day. Several other Steam games have also been given away in the tens of thousand . Granted, things have slowed down since the changes were made back in March this year with respect to community member downloads, but only with respect to non Steam games. When Steam keys are given away to the tune of anywhere between 10 to 25 000 Steam keys I hardly think you can say 'This site is a failure and run by wannabes'. Over the ten years this site has been running, (exactly 10 years ago this week), the site has given away over 1300 games, has garnered good standing with all of the major search engines, and has been mentioned by countless gaming sites. Many free game sites and developers could not say they have been around for so long and been as successful as the gamegiveawayoftheday; plus the community, although weakened somewhat since the changes, still has a very good following, with more joining regularly since Steam keys were put on the menu. (There's an untapped resource out there via the Steam community that can boast over 140 million active community members). I'm sure as word spreads via the Steam forums and Steam groups about free Steam keys from the game giveawayoftheday site we will be seeing many more joining us. The more members we have, the more likely we are to get more games.
With respect to your comment above (which I've deleted becasue it was inappropriate) you said someone had spammed you following your comment. I cannot find any comments from your IP, your email or your name in the comments section, or the spam and deleted folders. I've checked every comment posted in the Lapland Solitaire comments and nothing resembles what you mentioned in the deleted comment. Please consider that if the site changed it's name from Gamegiveawayoftheday to whatever was appropriate now, they would lose their good standing with the major search engines. I don't know if you realize what that means or could mean? Basically when someone does a search related to the game giveaways whether it be a previous game given away, a particular phrase quoted in the comments or in the forums, it will usually be among the first few results presented when a search is carried out. If they lost their good standing, results would be harder to find which would have a knock on effect with respect to reduced numbers of new community members joining. With respect to your statement that the site is no longer a giveaway but a contest site, what then are today's games? Sky Kingdoms is a global giveaway, totally free and at this point in time there are 10 thousand keys available for Boom. If those run out the giveaway team will get more keys. How can both of those games be considered competition giveaways? Also, if you look back over the last year since Dec 12th 2015 there have been 133 games given away, of those 106 have been unlimited and of the remaining 27 the number of licenses for most of those have still been generous enough for over 50% of those applying for the game to have won a key. (I've not applied for all, but have received at least 75% of the games from those competitions). You cannot say with such figures that this is a competition site as the games given away in a competitive mode only represent approximately 20% of the games, apart from several games including Lapland solitaire, where the keys are very limited (i.e. only 30 keys), most have had high percentages of potential wins for example greater than 50%. One was even just under 100% and the Steam crate giveaway, spare keys were left over.
This comments page is meant only for comments about the game, be they negative or positive. Read the moderation policy, which I've linked to in the comment I posted near the top of the comments. Over the years I have allowed virtually all comments because I though everyone was entitled to post whatever they wanted, plus I wanted this to be friendly place to come, as it was until last year, since then we have seen several community members posting very inappropriate comments. I've made some very good friends over the last decade thanks to this site. Unfortunately because the negativity, whinging and spam increased almost exponentially this year I had to make a decision about deleting most comments that were not specifically about the game being given away. I am the only moderator that is here every week and have been given carte blanche to post whatever I feel is appropriate and as such I will still allow comments that are not specific to the game so long as they are not negative, bullying, or completely absurd because I still think it's a good way to keep a friendly atmosphere.
Complaints about anything apart from the actual game should be directed to the contact form that can be found via the contact hyperlink located along the bottom of the front page, (I've posted a link to the contact form in my second comment at the top of the comments page).

Well, you've finally done it. Give away radar has decided your not worth carrying. It's amazing that I can download anything I want for programs but because of some smart ass millennial executive or worse, angel investors have taken one of the greatest sites that ever existed and turned it into a pile of horse manure. It's one thing to tell patrons that all they have to do is open the facebook link and close it to get the game. It's another to insult customers going back 10 years by misleading them. Why not just be honest and state from the beginning that we have been bought out. You can enter your email all you want for the download and we will just sit back and laugh at your ---ss. And just try to get the game without a facebook page.
White Rabbit: you did your best. You should move on. This is just making you look bad. hope you are feeling better. to the original crew: Thank you, thank you, thank you.

You should get into the pharmaceutical business and rip off the elderly.

And I don't give a shit how many millions of dumbed down followers you have.

Hundred's of thousands is a bit of an exaggeration. As it stands with three days to go, if you look at the number of entries so far, which are 9549; divide the number of licenses into that, gives 318 (rounded down). Those 9549 entries do not mean the number of individual community members applying because each community member (with three days to go) has a potential to have 24 entries. so 318 divided by 24 equals approx a 1 in 13 chance of winning a key. I really don't understand why you have to be so negativite, it's not like you're paying for anything???

If you don't get a key or just don't want the hassle of jumping through hoops to get a key for a seasonal game that you will probably play in December only, go to Game House. I just played it online there without even signing in. (A few of my RA games are there, so I have a sign on, but was not needed to play Lapland Solitaire. Seasoned casual gamers will know what RA is. :) )
Another question:
Where can I post the key I won at SteamCrate cause it's for a game I don't want to - I'd gladly give it to someone who loves to have it.
Hi Anu,
You can either post a comment in the forums telling the community what the game is, but don't post the code, (we can sort out how to get the code to whoever wants it, or you could let me know what the game is (but not the code, and I'll mention it in the next giveaway. Whoever asks for it fist I'll let you know by email what their email is so that you can send it to them. (We can put a message out to let them know you'll need their email, which i know as it can be seen in the admin panel. :)
I've tried to explain this before, if the team changed their name they would lose the high standing with the major search engines. this would impact on searches and mean less traffic. We are still getting games for free, so why do you have to post such negative comments?
If you win a key for Lapland solitaire, please give some feedback about your opinion of the game, for example, what you liked or disliked about it, or how it could be improved from your point of view . If you don't like this genre at all, please explain why. What, improvements, if any, would change your opinion? There are thousands of subscribers to the game giveaway of the day every weekend which makes this an ideal forum for giving developers ideas as to what their consumers (i.e you) would like to see in a game. For example, you could suggest extra content such as better or more original mini games, or a level editor that you would like to see that would make it more appealing to you. Maybe you think the graphics are a little dated and are in need of re skinning, or maybe you've just had enough of the genre and want to see something different or something with more originality?
If you don't win a key, don't mind playing games via Steam or miss the offer totally you can get the game 24/7 via Steam HERE. It usually costs £3.99/$4.99

Lapland Solitaire is a Christmas themed card game in which you progress through the build-up to the big day by playing through 200 levels and spending your hard earned chocolate coins on Lapland features.
Assuming you win a Steam key for Lapland solitaire once you've found it (should be sent to the email you used to enter the giveaway) you have to activate the game via your Steam client. Once activated it will be permanently tied to your Steam profile and you'll be able to install the game at any time, anywhere on any computer, so long as you can validate who you are (usually via emails etc). If you don't have a Steam account you will first have to download and install the Steam client HERE
Then create a Steam profile/account. Once that has been completed you can input the Steam code that you've received (after completing the form filling) via the game button along the top of the Steam client, (located between friends and Help - see image below). From the drop down menu select 'Activate a product on Steam'. This opens a product activation window. Just follow the prompts to complete activation. Once the Steam code has been accepted, the game will be permanently associated with your Steam account and can be installed any time you wish.
If you have a problem installing or activating or getting Lapland Solitaire to work, please visit the problems section over in the Game Discussion forums, which I've now incorporated into the FAQ's thread, and which you can find HERE
The Game:
Key Features:
Get festive with 200 unique hand-crafted levels
Unlock 8 hand painted Christmas backgrounds
Listen to enchanting seasonal music
Shape the new Lapland with new buildings and decorations
Get help with 10 unique, un-lockable power-ups
Playing Solitaire proves to be in a whole lot level merrier with Lapland Solitaire. In this amusing version of the game, Santa has tasked you to build the new Lapland. You will try to earn chocolate coins through the levels in order to fund and build the Lapland of your dreams. Several tweaks have been imposed to provide a new sense of rendition to the popular card game but still share the same objective of giving un-quantifiable amount of challenge and simple entertainment.
Help rebuild Santa's village in time for Christmas with only 25 days to run through everything. For each day on the calendar, you will play four hands during the day and four hands during the evening. The closer you get to Christmas, the more cards you get to unlock. Play through its massive collection of levels and unlock cool bonuses and power-ups to help you clear the levels.
In the game, the ultimate goal is to clear the given random cards on the playing field by combining the card next to the stack with cards that are 1 higher or 1 lower in value: for example, the Queen will combine with the Jack as well as the King. The longer you can keep chaining the sequence of the cards, the more your combo gauge will rise resulting to more points to receive.
The game is also prompted with twist mechanics like hindering the access to the locked stack of cards until you clear the cards with keys in them in the playing field and some cards that are blocked with ice. As you progress through the levels, you will be introduced with new obstacles to give you the challenge. As you clear these levels, you are rewarded with chocolate coins that may earn you special items to boost your game. Such items are the Christmas Tree which allows gives you the chance to undo a particular move you made, the Elf Hut that gives you the joker card which can assume any value of a card, Mrs. Claus Bakery that removes all the top layer cards at once and many more as you progress.
All-in-all, Lapland Solitaire ignites a merrier revamp the yuletide occasion with this wonderful Solitaire game. The 200 unique hand crafted levels, different backgrounds to choose from, and the enchanting seasonal background provided a livelier appeal to the casual and relative classic game. And though it may not render a heavy underlying plot or high-end visuals, the whimsical game unquestionably leaves a brain-stimulating type of appeal that may enhance your aptitude to sequence the cards at hand faster and more efficiently.
While it may plainly be just another game of luck for others, the challenge presented all-in-all will without a doubt test the limits of your patience and perseverance. Nevertheless, the game can easily be addictive and is suggested to both seasoned and unseasoned casual gamers that simply want a decent card game that is both enjoyable and packs a hefty bunch of levels to beat.
You can see Steam community reviews of Lapland Solitaire HERE and also from the Big Fish community HERE and the BFG forums HERE. You can see some videos of game play HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE
.
Conclusion:
If you like solitaire games, and love Christmas, this is the perfect game. Nice and easy to play, with some extra;s to make the game more interesting.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the developer Nomad Games for giving away 30 keys for this excellent Christmas themed solitaire game and also to the game giveaway team, as always, for securing other ways to get free games, in this case a Steam key.

It's absolutely impossible to follow your rules. I cannot comment on a game when it won't even be given away for a week to thirty people when there are already 624 entries in 2 1/2 hours.
I thought it would be obvious that you comment once you've won a key. Obviously if you don't have the game you can't comment about it.
At this point in time if you received the maximum number of entries possible, with 30 keys divided into the number of entries that would mean approx 1 in 123 chance of winning, however with 13 entries that becomes approx 10% chance of winning, i.e. a 1 in 10 chance. This will reduce slightly as the days go by till next Monday when winners will be announced, but so long as you continue to post via F.B. then you stand a reasonable chance of winning a key. Pity it wasn't a 100 keys, that would have given us a 1 in 3 chance of winning. Still, I already purchased the game, so if I win a key it will be given to someone deserving.
Trying to be clever I see. When there is a global giveaway (I presume you know what i mean by a global giveaway) such as the game Last Survivor, which was given away on the 1st December there were 15000 keys given away, whereas with a limited key giveaway not as many community members bother to apply. That is of course depending on the giveaway. The percentages I quote are approximations and based on the number of entries each community member can gain if they visit the site every day and complete the tasks plus the number of keys available and the total number of entries so far. There may be a lot more than say the 300 you quote (based on my figures), but that would assume not everyone does the tasks every day (and is probably the case, becasue I for one don't bother to do them every day becasue I forget as I still have the weekend only mind set).

So, according to your comment, there will only be 300 people trying to win this game. 30 keys with a 1 in 10 chance. That's 300.
What happened to the thousands and thousands of people you often say try to get these games? It it 10,000+ or is it 300? It can't be both!
