I tried twice to download and install. Twice I had a virus warning from my anti virus program. I would like to play this game, but not at the risk of downloading a virus.

But this game isn't 3D at all. It's 2D with pre-rendered tiles.

BTW... you can change the colour of the tiles by simply editing the steine*.png files with your favourite image processor. (The current colours could be confusing for people with colour blindness.)

@ #24, 3D IS easy to do if you have just practiced for some time. Want a game with 3D graphics (pre-rendered) made in under 3 weeks by me?

http://gmc.yoyogames.com/index.php?showtopic=337887&hl=

I made that in less than 3 days for a small competition. Imagine what i could do in 3 weeks. I used crappy gamemaker for the programming and blender for the graphics.

As for the game again, the new comments just strengthen my decision not to download it... If you like the game, good for you but the majority as you can see do NOT like it...

To Whiterabbit, and All,

I noticed you can increase the speed of the tiles dropping down the ’slide’ by pressing the down arrow! And although this is only 'per tile' it does help to improve play!! ;o)

I thought the game looked & played well!!

Hi everyone, I tried this game, and I liked it. True enough, it was in German(?) , but a simple menu click to change it to English is all. Very easy. However, like Whiterabbit mentioned, it defaults back to German. In my opinion, this should be changed, but it is not horrible. I did not have any gameplay or graphics issues. True, gameplay is only with a joystick or keyboard, but it is not bad. I think it would work better than a mouse. I did not have any problems, and to me, it was an enjoyable puzzle game, with some strategy involved as well. I recommend this game, it might get a bit monotonous, but is worth it to pull out and play. Thumbs up from me.

Thanks GGAOTD and Magnussoft

Skye-hook(#24): It's difficult to overlook stupid remarks when they're as stupid as yours. How many times do morons like yourself need to be told: This isn't a freeware site. The whole idea is to get people to try the software and, in return, offer USEFUL feedback, positive or negative. You shouldn't run that big mouth of yours unless you know what you're talking about. This game sucked. If you really want this game, just get it at a rom site. It is almost as widespread as Tetris. Klax was wayyy better than this crap.

Game was about as enjoyable as chewing alluminum foil. The music seemed to be some "rave" ambiance type that I'm sure is very popular in Europe but doesn't quite pass as enjoyable over here across the pond. More like a 90's "trance" rhythm happening that got old as soon as it started playing. I had to go into the options and click German language and then click English language again before I could read what was there. Once I could read the options.. I turned off the music.

I gave the game a good run through but found it boring and repetitive. It might be good for those little tikes over in the land of Cuckoo clocks.. but doesn't too much for this American Gamer.

My rating: "Uninstalled".

Peace out.

I actually really enjoy the original KLAX and downloaded this because it looked like a KLAX Clone.

But I was sorely disappointed. The game play is worse than classic KLAX (if that can be believed when comparing to a game so old), and some of the tricks I enjoy about KLAX are missing (if you build a V-shape, only one side is cleared when you put in the keystone - really annoying if you've done the ultimate KLAX trick and made an X).

Downloaded, installed, played and VERY quickly deleted.

Thank you! Love it! And gee, the stupid remarks made above are just to be over-looked, I guess. Peeps, if it LOOKS like you wouldn't like it, don't download it & then say bad stuff. My grand will love it, & 3D is NOT that easy to do, so I expect to see a really great 3D game made by #12 in about 3 weeks. And use a 3D program we can all see. Open GL will do. If ya can't do it, don't knock it. Don't want it? Don't download it.

I remember playing this (the original game KLAX) back in the 90's. It wasn't much fun, even then. Too repetitive, like working on an assembly line. (For that reason, I think they ought to pay us to play it! lol)

I loved Klaxx way back when, and have it for at least one of my handhelds, so will definitely be giving this one a try. If it's anywhere near as good as that quasi-Qix clone that was offered here several months back (don't remember who the produced that one), it'll be a keeper. :) Can't wait to go home and give it a try.

Come on, it's not _that_ bad!

But it's true - the controls are a bit sluggish and the tiles keep coming in too long intervals (at least in the first levels).

I remember it being much swifter in the original game.

I didn't mention that you can collect up to 5 tiles in the basket before you have to start adding them to the tray at the bottom. Also, I didn't notice any increase in the speed of the tiles dropping down the 'slide' but this may occur as the game progresses firther?

Another Magnussoft game with the usual AVI introduction, which can be skipped by pressing the space bar or enter keys. It looks like the guys have reduced the file size considerably from previous games, or maybe this is an earlier game and that as the original intro? I mistakenly installed this game into my games Tetris folder. It is actually a match three game, but not like your normal match three game.

You have to collect different colored tablets by using a movable basket, that fall down a dispenser of sorts that looks like one of those slides you get at a fun fair. There are four themes Mechanical, Futuristic, Medieval and Classical, each, comes with its own version of the same music track (apart from the Mechanical theme which uses one of the others. I’d actually call it a tekky theme, but as the themes aren’t actually labeled that’s the nearest I could figure them) that remind me of being on my summer holidays, but going back a few decades. You are requested to collect a specific number of one of four types of sets,

1) Vertical klix (senkrechte Klixe)
2) Horizontal Klix (waagerechte Klixe)
3) Diagonal Klix (diagonale Klixe)
4) a combination of any (beliebige Klixe)

You can still clear any type of set from the collecting tray, but you don’t progress to the next level until you’ve collected a specific number of the sets that you are requested to collect at the beginning of a level.

From the options menu you can change several parameters of the game to make it more difficult (there were no difficulty settings as such, although I suspect if they were they would just automatically set the parameters for you. These are:

Number of alleys - 3 or 4
Maximum number of colors – 6, 7 or 8
Stack height – 3 or 4

There were some minor bugs to the game such as mixed language menus, although these weren’t serious. I found you had to reset the language from German to English every time I re-entered the game, for the menus at least; which I did often at first because whenever I took a screen capture the game crashed; so you won’t find many screen captures. I did Google the game, but apart from the image of a boxed set of the game there were no other images. The rest were of Magnussofts Barkanoid and Aquanoid games. Follow the link below to see the screen captures I took, which include the main menu, options menu and help menu plus a couple of in game screenies as well.

All on one page:

http://s109.photobucket.com/albums/n61/Whiterabbit_01/gaotd/Klix/

As a slide show:

http://s109.photobucket.com/albums/n61/Whiterabbit_01/gaotd/Klix/?action=view&slideshow=true

I didn’t find the game inspiring at all and too be honest just wanted to stop playing; but persevered for about an hour just to get a good impression of it for the review, which I needn’t have bothered to, as there was nothing else to the game. There were no bonuses to collect and no real variation to the game. So it quickly became rather tedious I’m sorry to say; not like some match three games that have been given away and in particular the wonderful Treasures of Montezuma that was given away a few days ago, which I’ve been playing regularly every day (in between one of the latest $50 games called Crysis and my favorite game Battlefield 2 {which you can buy for the same price as most arcade games now and is still massively supported by a modding community}. And intend playing just as soon as I’ve finished this review.

Another problem….. well, not a problem; more like a design feature, was the password requirements to be able to skip to the level you may have left off from when returning to the game. In actual fact you can only save the game in sets of five levels, so for example if you leave the game at level six, seven, eight or nine, on returning you will start at level five again. I’ve got several games that require you to make a note of a password. Guess what; I rarely play those games now, and if I do I always have to start at level one despite attempting to save the passwords. They are invariably scribbled on a piece of paper which is soon lost. I should have a note book especially for the purpose, but never think of such things, besides; my organizational skills are appalling, lol. I initially played through to level 6 then paused the game by pressing the Esc key, only to discover the game reset itself to level one. I couldn’t find a pause key.

The game has an unusual design with some lovely graphics and a little humor as well, which seems to be common with Magnessoft games. You’ll see a workman in the background walking by frequently, and sometimes being chased by a Pacman. But there’s not much else to it IMO. It will probably be a good game for the Children to play, especially the younger child, with a view to improving their cognitive skills, color recognition and keyboard skills. Although the music and level designs aren’t really child orientated. Which reminds me? You can select either keyboard or Joystick controls, but no mouse controls. To release the tile from the basket using the keyboard controls you have to press the space bar. If you don’t want a particular tile you can press the up arrow to change it to another randomly generated color. If you fail to catch a tile in the basket a specific number of times, indicated by a display to the left of the game, the level ends.

I would suggest to Magnussoft that they re-design this game somewhat, correct the menu glitches, include difficulty settings as opposed to manually changing the attributes, and include some good bonuses as well as some variation to the game. Perhaps with a couple of mini games; which seem to be trendy at the moment? I’d also add some sort of story line and an achievements gallery. Most games of this ilk have then an IMO do add a certain amount of interest to a game that without them would get boring very fast, much like this game does at the moment. I know the cost is only 8 euros, but I think that is still to much for this game, when according to a friend of mine if you go into a games shop in Germany, where this game was made, you can pick up arcade games on disc (which is rare in the UK, and in Switzerland according to this same friend {Hi Claudia :) }) for a third of the price that are much more playable, for example Break In a 360 degree arkanoid style game can be bought for 2 Euro’s, and is a far more playable game, being only one of two circular arkanoids I know about.

I really find this a hard one to score. Unfortunately for me it’s not even worth a 5 which is the lowest I’ve ever scored a game on the game giveaway site (I think).

Doesn't this description (and the screenshots- and the name) remind anyone of the arcade game Klaxx? A lot?

I worked on them often enough, and MAME32 runs it- in 5 variants. I suppose I oughta take a look and see just how close they are.

Hmmm. having a storage full of arcade games and 11 years in the biz sure makes me look at some of these remakes a bit sideways.

Fun game for a young child; catch the coloured bricks coming down the conveyer belt with your basket and then drop the brick onto the correct coloured stack. I suspect the game must have been intended for the game German market originally as some parts of the game are in German others in English. Reselecting English from the option menu under “Sprache” made no difference whatsoever from what I could see.
I personally found the game quite tedious if it weren’t for the upbeat music the game itself would be boring as hell. Thanks anyway game giveaway, gonna pass on this one.
