One thing I disliked about this game is the opening graphics that could not be skipped, only fast forwarded through. Since I tend to play in small bursts, that was annoying.
I enjoyed this game as it was challenging. I liked the method of storytelling; however, some items that were needed were not clued in well enough IMO and I was left going "But I've been here. There's nothing to find" via the map tool. I resorted to finding walkthroughs rather than endlessly re-searching areas and that to me was a fail.
I'd still play it again as I did enjoy many of the elements and it had very nice graphics. Those two items - skipping intro scenes, maybe after the first playback, and taking an overall look to see what is needed (Maybe better hints about ingredients) to advance the play.

My sort of game so I like it - but have had problems with the screen resolution - I didn't realise straight away that it wasn't right for my screen so once I started playing it was impossible to go back to the options menu as the menu icon was off the edge of the screen! Sorted that eventually by using task manager to exit the browser, started again and changed the resolution... only to find that next time I played it went back to the original res so that I had to go through the whole thing again - annoying.
I'm enjoying playing, one criticism though - once you have found a hidden item, its picture hardly changes and you really have to squint at the list to see what you have still to find.
And I wish we could just click to avoid the pages at the beginning each time before we get to the start of the game - and once you're there... remember to click on continue not start, or you go back to the beginning again.
But thank GGOTD for another nice game.

Win10 64 bit Home. Not a bad game. Took awhile to download but it loaded fine. I did have to do a compatibility check as it played every where but center and have set to overide DPI settings. All in all, a great game. As someone said if you come back to the game, make sure you click continue not start. Yeah it sends you back the start the game again. Normally a game would Start and then you press new game or continue. Not this game. You do have to go back and forth to find things and that is part of the whole HOG thing of the games. Someone said something about silhouettes. I have silhouettes and words to look for. Is that right?

Hi!
It took a long while to download and opened quickly. Play is smooth so far. Mainly you are speaking
with people and finding objects with a couple of puzzle games as you go along. The graphics are good. Play thus far has been easy, but I started with that option since I do not have much time right now and wanted to review
and play the game a bit. I wish the talk would flow a bit more rather than have to keep clicking on the speakers.
Other than that the game is a typical hog. I haven't played that long yet, so it might get more interesting as one
goes up levels. Thank you for another good game!

Downloaded and opened easily on my HP with windows 10. I had a little problem with the cursor at first but after closing out and restarting the game it seems to be resolved. Not as pretty as I thought it would be. It's a good game and the hidden objects are fun but I am kind of disappointed in the entire game. I will keep it and play it, maybe I will warm up to it. Thank you GOTD and MyPlayCity :)

Sadly this is one of those rare games which does not play nice with my screen resolution of 1920-1200.
Dee-Rats!
I hate it when I miss out on a game. :-(

Judge Dee: The City God Case
A HOG game with some interesting puzzles from MPC and BigFish games. And this one despite the title which shouldn't offend if one knows Chinese culture, is a dazzling display of beautiful graphics and artwork along with some really intricate game play, but not to difficult as to make it a chore to play.
Downloaded and installed well on Win 10, and for those that are having problems, remember to suspend or turn off your anti-virus and any other protection software running, a friend who had problems needed to turn off temporarily their smart screen protection in Windows 10 for example, and there has never been malware or anything else included from these sites. Yes it installs shortcuts and opens to the MPC page after, but does nothing more than that, and is Not malware in anyway. We have several protection programs that check these with the latest detections loaded after they are on the computer, and all have found nothing.
Sorry I haven't been around gang, have been having some health problems of my own lately, and spent much of the last week in hospitals and tests etc.., funny because my handicapped child has been well lately (thankfully ;) and tells the staff that she is taking care of me! Am in a brace as I write this, but hope to be better soon. Know many are going through some trying times as well, and send prayers and wishes for good things to everyone.
But want to thank GGAOTD and MPC for another fine game, and even though I was told this one was older, it doesn't look or play like it is, and is probably one of the best HOG type I have seen.

I keep getting the error "Failed to connect. Please try again later." I've been trying repeatedly for about five hours with the same result. This has never happened before. I have disabled my anti-virus. What gives?

This game is beautiful and interesting. There's plenty to see and do.
Some things I would prefer:
1. After opening a window, I have to find the little "x" in the corner to close it. That gets tiresome. It would be much better if clicking off of the window would close it. There may be some accidental closings but I think it's worth the risk.
2. You get a list of hidden objects to find. It's almost impossible to tell which objects you have already found. Please either make the object icon go away after it's found or make a big change in color, outline, etc.
3. Help does nothing when one is not in a puzzle. I'm stuck in the city. The map says to go to a place for the quest, and I go there, but I can't find any quest. Please make the help function more universal.
I'm enjoying the game but I have to go now to look for a walkthrough to find out what to do next.

It installed okay after disabling virus protection.
It starts up with the story but it does not recognize my keyboard at the "enter profile" screen and you cannot get past it.
Running Win 10, 64-bit.
Don't know what to do.

I have tried starting it again, a few times.
Still get stuck at the "enter profile" screen.
Cannot get to the options menu.

Cool, a Judge Dee game! Judge Dee is actually kind of like the Chinese Sherlock Holmes, with several books and movies to his name (with his own Wikipedia page). I hope to enjoy this, whenever I get around to it (massive game backlog, plus a Master's Degree that leaves little free time to play).
Thank you :)

Nice game with enough challenge for a HOG. The HOG part is not too easy. the artwork is beautifull done.
One remark: Searching for shapes is not my favourite HOG type, because I can't find small items as a piece of rope in a bunch of stuff and have to use hints, which I normally do not do in a HOG.
That is my only remark on this game. Thank you and have a nice weekend!

Downloaded & installedJudge Dee with no problems. Playing the game is ok until the first puzzle. The pointer is too sloppy and won't stay with the pieces or it won't let them go into place all the way. Finally got the puzzle lined up after 3rd try.
The game itself is a little challenging, but thats what makes it interesting.
Using Surface Pro4 with Win 10.

This is my favorite type game but unfortunately I keep getting "unspecified error" when trying to install even after disabling my anti-virus.

This looks like a beautiful one to try. I always play these kinds of game for the story and the puzzle solving, so it seems this one will score on high on those points. The history aspect will definitely keep me engaged as well and I think that feature is a great way to bring something different into a highly saturated genre.
Thanks very much GoTD for today's game and to Mr. Whiterabbit for the review. Miss seeing you on Steam, but gosh times are busy and life throws many things at a person all at once. Be nice to chat again sometime. Have a good weekend! Cheers.

The graphics are stunning, really a pleasure to play in this game, there are two things I don't like:
When you restart the game you have to click though 7 pages of explanation every time, which I find quite annoying.
Also remember to click 'continue' and not 'play' in the latter case you'll start the whole game.
The hidden objects are sometimes very hard to find, they can be in the corners in between the navigation buttons, which makes it hard to recognize and aim for them. One objects took me 5 hints to be able to locate and click it :-D
Worth downloading though, thanks GGOTD and MyPlayCity for this pleasant game.

Yay, a HOG! :) D/l'd and installed fine on Win 8.1 after disabling Avast (really wish if they are going to keep this wrapper, requiring that you temporarily disable your AV, they should have a popup warning instead of just having the install fail with no notice; would cut down on the posts here!) Anyway, I've only played for a short while, but this looks to be a fun challenge so far. There are HOGs and puzzles, a mix I prefer. The game works a bit differently from many HOGs, so running the tutorial (which I almost never do) is probably worth it.
I like the puzzles which I am finding even now at the beginning to be a bit challenging, which is good. I don't love that all the HOGs are silhouette ones instead of some lists, and frankly, although I'm pretty good at these usually, I'm finding it difficult to find some items, as they are pretty hidden. So far not a huge annoyance, but I suspect these will get harder (and the ol' eyes more tired) as I play some more. The graphics and dialogue are pretty basic, but for me, these games are all about the challenges, so I'm a happy camper with this so far! And I like that you have to earn your hints, though I may not feel that way as the Go games get harder :). Overall, looks like a good addition.
A little site feedback: I did notice that at the time I downloaded, this game had a 40% thumbs down here, which ordinarily might have stopped me from trying, but I've been aching for a HOG. I do wish that folks that down vote would post what their complaint is so we can see if it's relevant to us.

neme, I hate silhouette HOG's, so thanks for letting us know that ALL of the HOGs in this game are silhouette ones!

Corylea, I'm not sure that ALL are silhouette throughout the game; as I said in the review, I've only played a little. But even if they are, you might enjoy giving it a shot, as it massages a different part of our brains :).
