TJ - I thought the graphics were amazing! Something must be wrong with your monitor.

Love the game, but what is with the horrible graphics! Still very addicting. just turn off the speakers, the music is annoying after a few plays, and fades in and out for me too. My 3 year old loves the game, even if she only uses the vertical to divide balls.

I discovered that we are not stuck with the cartoon images that come in the game!! I was looking for the uninstall.exe as I've spent way too much time playing this in the two days that I've had it. Instead of finding the uninstall.exe, I found the images file. The path is: Program Files >> Jezzonix >> Data >> images.

Inside the images file, I created a new folder and stuck all of the cartoon images in it just in case my idea didn't work. Then I chose 26 of my own pictures and put them in the images folder. I gave them the same name as Jezzonix used. 1.jpg, 2.jpg, etc. It worked!!!

Re #34 Mikepinoy: Relax, Butterfly Escape does NOT contain a virus! Your anti-virus program is alerting about a PUP, not a virus. PUP=Possibly Unwanted Program. Your anti-virus is giving a false warning because Butterfly Escape contains a multiplayer module for playing the game online against other people. (See "Tournament" mode after clicking "Start Game"? That's the online multiplayer mode.)

Some anti-virus programs will throw up a warning about ANY program that contains a module with internet connection possibility. Especially if it's a program that normally wouldn't have one, like an installed arcade game. Some people don't want such modules in a game, but that doesn't mean it's anything bad. Hence the "Possibly" in PUP, not all PUPs are bad.

Qix was originally an arcade game (when they used to have video arcades), it was later ported to home machines such as the Atari, Apple, and Nintendo system.

The pictured are childlish, and the game is a bit uncomfortable to play with no mouse and only a touchpad. The replay value isn't that great, either. Not really a game I'd keep, good for a dull hour or so.

I'm not a kid...i'm 54, but I found this game to be addicting. After I installed it, I just opened it to see what it was like. Three hours later, I have finally been able to tear myself away. I had never played computer games until I found this site. Coming here has become one the first things that I do every day. I have multiple sclerosis which I jokingly call "foggy brain disease." Games like this and Crystal Cave Gold help my thinking process. With Crystal Cave, I can successfully complete a level, go back to it ten minutes later, and have no clue where to start. I have forgotten that quickly. Given that, such games will never get old. :-)

Wow, hard to believe there's still shareware developers making Jezzball clones! That's is an old game going back to Atari, first appeared on PC with Windows Entertainment Pack more than 10 years ago. There's freeware-always versions, Icebreaker for Windows, KBounce for Linux, lots of versions for mobile PC.

Looks like a good one for kids who probably don't remember Jezzball, especially if as Keilaron says it's an easy one. If it works like most Jezzball games watch the percentage indicator, you have to get to at least 75% to go to the next level. Not a Jezzball fan, find it kind of boring like the Boulderdash clones, so will be skipping today's download. Except for the disappointing Pacman clone (not nearly as good as Pacmania 3 from Jan. 7th), it's been a great week for the site! Still enjoying Hyperballoid, Star Blaze and Butterfly Escape. :)

It's nice that you mix things up, offering different genres and something for all ages is good. Thanks to the comments above I know this one's not for me either. I'll be checking tomorrow of course ...

Thanks for doing what you do, GGOTD!

This one's for the kids.
Pictures are very kid-oriented, and the game is incredibly easy. I would've preferred an orientation-style aim rather than one button or the other -- I'm used to the linux clone which, though having no pictures, uses one button to fire and the other button to select horizontal or vertical.
Anyway, not a bad game if you're giving it to the kids.

I played and enjoyed this game. The tutorial suggested leaving half of the balls in a section, which is good advice, but I would also add trying to use as little of the playing field as possible to eliminate a ball, so you don't end up with a lot of balls in a tiny space. A few times I hit the horizontal split instead of the vertical and vice versa, but that is part of the game. I don't think it's my system, but as I was playing, I noticed huge changes in the volume level of the music. After a while it got very distracting and annoying, but that is my main complaint. Othewise, I think the gae can be a lotof fun

I think you'll find that this game goes a long way back, to the late 70's when it was called QIX, a cartridge game for the Atari 400 computer. The music was as bad on the original!

Poor introduction discription. Went to web site and not much help either. "Determined" - I downloaded the game ! LOL 8-)
The game features a tutorial & controls for sound and music. Three skill levels. Gameplay is controlled with the mouse. The goal is to expose a picture (cartoonish looking)beneath the playing field within the time alloted. The mouse can isolate floating balls by drawing a line vertically or horzonitally with either a left or right click, decreasing the field size. Each level has limited "lives" and time.
The game didn't "excite" me; but, it does have it's challenges. There's alot of room for improvement, mainly with the "look" which is pretty basic. Kids will enjoy the images more than adults who may or maynot like the mental test.
