There are thousands of subscribers to the game giveaway of the day every weekend which makes this an ideal forum for giving developers new or fresh ideas as to what their consumers (i.e you) would like to see in a game. For example, you could suggest extra content such as better or more original mini games, or a level editor that you would like to see that would make it more appealing to you. Maybe you think the graphics are a little dated and are in need of re skinning, or maybe you've just had enough of the genre and want to see something different or something with more originality? Giving such feedback instead of saying nothing or just saying this game is rubbish or good may bring more developers to the site, which could mean more and better games. Would 'you' give away thousands of copies of a game (or extra content for a game) away to a community that complains all the time instead of giving useful feedback? It only needs a few moments of your time.
This site could be transformed if only the community would be more forthcoming in their opinions of the games they are getting for free instead of complaining about the way this site has changed, for example, they don't like MPC games, they hate HOG's, have had enough of Match Three and Time Management games, or they want to see the latest version of Call of Duty or some other big name AAA game given away or that they don't like Steam games. If something isn't for you then please move on to the next giveaway, or check out the forums HERE, HERE and HERE, where a few members of the community post details of various free games and free game sites as well as links to various indie bundle sites etc; you never know, you may find something that really interests you.

So this time you can also climb up the walls! To make the things even better 15 types of the bonuses with fall on you from the blue sky. Among them are additional lives, multicolored balls, bombs, additional bonuses and what not! The only problem is to catch these extremely quick flying items. If you have a problem installing or activating or getting Jewels of the Nile to work please visit the problems section, which I've now incorporated into the FAQ's thread, and which you can find HERE
The Game:
Jewels of the Nile is another take on the well worn Zuma/Luxor marble popping match three game. It has the usual elements, though the shooter is slightly different in that you cannot angle the shots from a fixed position, instead you move the shooter around the periphery of three sides of the arena, (the bottom and sides); also there are 15 bonus types that drop randomly; not when you score a match, but at any time (see image above for details of each bonus). They include color swap, lives, bombs, speed up and slow down, multipliers, stop and a black hole bonus to name a few of them; (that last one, which is not listed in the bonus list I've never seen in one of these games). The graphics are okay, looking a little like the first Luxor game that I first played over a decade ago. Otherwise there's nothing much else to tell about this game; (see my conclusion below).

Conclusion:
Jewels of the Nile is a standard marble popper with some slightly different mechanics and bonuses. Personally I found the game a little slow and the movement of the cannon was at times a little frustrating, especially when trying to navigate the sides via the cannon.shooters track. At the most I'd score this 6 out of 10 for game play.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank MyPlayCity for giving away Jewels of the Nile and also to the game giveaway team, as always, for securing other ways to get free games.

Jewels of the Nile

A ball shooter/alignment game from MPC that downloaded and installed very well on Win 10 Pro x64.
This is in the vein of the excellent Beetle Bomp given away here recently, but must say the graphics and play isn't even close to that one, and we love these style of games!
While we didn't experience any of the scaling issues others have (installing both on her portable and our main desktop) but it is hard to align the balls and while it does have the interesting shoot-from-the-side feature not found in BB and the also excellent Sky Kingdoms, the graphics and play just don't match those for first impressions.

Suggestions to the developers would be to have a mode for 'easy' to let people get used to the play of the game. Also try to differentiate more clearly between balls and bonuses i.e. bombs and such. We will give this more time to see if it catches our attention more though, as again this is a favorite genre.
Thank you GGAOTD and MPC for a chance to play these games as always though!

Can't play, all the choices such as Music, Volume, Options & Exit are all way off the screen to the right. Nothing I do will change it because it just changes it back when the program starts.

Hi Ron

Have you tried playing in windowed mode and setting the game to play in a low resolution?

Worst of this type of game I have ever played! Jewels of the Nile is a slow, non-responsive shooter. Uninstalled.
It seems no one can successfully create a game like Zuma and Luxor.

Thanks anyway, MPC and GAOTD. Maybe another day.

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

I agree. I've played a lot of these types such all of the Luxor series, all of the Zuma series, Sparkle 1 and 2, Inca Ball, Charma, Atlantis Sky Patrol, Stone Loops of Jurassica and others I've forgotten the names of and all of which are much better than this one. The developers tried to do something different i.e. make a track for the cannon to fire. They should have also enabled the cannon to rotate. It would have been much better. Graphics were a little plain as well.

All in all everything is fine but the aiming is hard even with the line to aim, it seems the mouse control isn't very accurate (could as well be my mouse acting up). Will try to play more another time, cause I am very tired and impatient right now.

Anyway - thank you very much for the game and all others I got in the last few weeks and a huge shout out to Whiterabbit for his good reviews all the time.

Thank you for your feedback Anu. I had problems aiming when going along the side tracks; sometimes the mouse pointer would stutter, sometimes freeze, so was ineffective most of the time.

Sorry -- normally I love bubble popper games but this one just doesn't work for me. It moves too slow (the frantic pace is an important part of bubble poppers for me) plus the weird way the shooter travels makes it very hard to hit certain areas of the track. I would much have preferred a simple left/right path that let you shoot the entire width of the board to the screwy way it acts as it 'rounds the corners.' Also a general note to game developers: not everyone has perfect color vision. Going with bright primary colors may seem boring, but at least they're easier to tell apart. In this game I was constantly being fooled by mistaking the yellow and light orange balls for each other.

Anyway, thanks to GGOTD and MyPlayCity, but this game is a miss for me.

This game downloaded and installed to windows 10 ok. you can change the screen resolution in the options if you need to. This is a zuma type game with good game play and good power ups. I only gave a touch pad and found it a bit awkward to play but that could be just me. Well worth giving this game a try though.

After installing the game I noticed that the game was too big for my (wide)screen and couldn't click any buttons to change settings of screen resolution for example. I had to stop the game using Ctrl-Alt-Dlt. I uninstalled it now, because I don't want to want to manually change my screen resolution just for a game. It is a pity, because it seemed a nice game to play in between other things.

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

Thank you for your feedback tiscrea. You can change the screen resolution via the options menu. You can choose from 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x960 and 1600x1200 or you can select windowed mode. I didn't note the default resolution. If its less than the highest one, increasing the resolution to the higher one should reduce the size of the game.

Thank you for your comment, but becauzse of the wrong screen resolution I don't see the button Options :-)

This is what I see:

http://s34.photobucket.com/user/tiscrea/media/computer%20divers/printscreen%20nile.png.html
Not a button to ben seen anywhere...

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

That's really odd because the whole screen shows, just not with the menu buttons. Try going into compatibility mode by right clicking on the games shortcut then from the drop down menu select properties. This opens up a small window. Click on the compatibility tab and try changing some of the properties for example check the disable scaling if that doesn't work check one of the others. also make sure the admin checkbox is checked. If this doesn't fix the issue, temporarily change your screen resolution and see if that enables the menu buttons to appear, then you can change via options, then revert back to your usual screen resolution. You should only have to do that once.

tiscrea ©,

You might try disabling high DPI scaling. That often makes it realize your screen size better and show everything. Almost every game I get lately has to have that tag set.

The DPI scaling trick did it and now I can see the whole screen and menu when opening the game. Thank you all very much for your help. Now I'm off to celebrate my mum's birthday :-)

Diane,

That DPi-scaling did the trick. Thank you all for your help, but now I'm off celebrating my mum's birthday :-)
