I love this game! The finished pieces are gorgeous, the music is a nice background sound, and the story is engaging.
I have to say that I am really grateful to GGotD, for putting out so many GOOD puzzle games. For those of us that like this kind of thing, finding really good ones is a major challenge. Most of the stores and websites offer mostly action games. While those are nice on occasion, for people who like puzzles, they're just not enough.
The puzzle games offered here are challenging, and engage the brain instead of just hand-eye coordination. I love having to figure out the moves well ahead of time, to make things work and get power ups.
Keep up the good work, and please keep offering such wonderful puzzle games as Jewel Craft, Montezuma, Sky Bubbles, etc. They rock!

Lots and stuff to get thru before able to play game. Didn't thrill me - I will be uninstalling for sure!

thegregg - I agree about Montezuma. It is the best match 3 game ever. I love playing that.

There seems to be a problem with the parchment level. The gems require 451 stones but you only have 418!!

Great little game. A connect 3 type with a twist. It is very addicting and provides just enough challenge to keep my mind working.
I would only suggest adding an addition to the tutorial to show that each cube can be rotated more then once to reveal more color options.

Will Someone PLEASE tell me how I am suppose to get the larger gems on the third level? Call me an idiot, but I can get the small ones fine ALL day long, but see no distinction as to how I am suppose to get the larger gems. I tried to turn more stones at one time, I tried both sides of a stone (one side appears light while the other is darker)
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

When you match jewels, the number of jewels that you match will be placed on the ornament. You beat the level when you put all of the jewels on the ornament. After placing all jewels of one color, extra matches of that color will be added to your score.

Jewel Craft has beautiful graphics. When you finnish crafting the jewels the items look splend. It has a nice story line about a boy who becomes a master Jewel crafter he also starts falling in love with his masters daughter as he gets older.
This is a definite keeper and my 42nd game as well.I'm trying to reach a 100,will I make it?
And to Blue Berry Pie, I'm glad you enjoyed the game!I also hate the mushroom (I mean who complains about fun? Everybody loves fun!)I haven't played the game in a long time but I think I can still remeber the name of the mushroom.I think it's Marcell.(I'm not sure if the spelling is correct though)My favourite game is the Roller Coaster game (Somewhat like Diner Dash) but I also like the Candy Counter game it's so relaxing but then again I like the part where you have to inflate Grogh.Hahaha! He looks so funny and fat.My favourite character is Gammah.(I think that's her name)

I must be in the minority, but personally I found this game tedious and annoying. I do like "match three" games, but this one didn't thrill me. I truly liked "montezuma" from Alawar. I play that one every morning with my cup of tea. It gets my brain moving. This one seems silly - just turning cubes to find gems - might be exciting for a child, but I found it boring.

Great game! I really liked this one ... thanks!

This craft didn't really fly with me. No diamond in the rough, either. Just didn't cut it. All joking aside, I can see that a lot of effort went into making this game. Everything about it is professional. Unfortunately, I just didn't enjoy playing it much. I don't know why. I'm giving it a thumb up, though, because it deserves a good mark for overall quality, and since quite a few people do enjoy playing it.

First, let me say that I appreciate all the free games on this site. I also love match 3 games. This game, however, I do not like. I do not understand how to move the blocks even after playing 2 levels of the tutorial. No match 3 should be this difficult. Not a keeper for me.

I check this site every day.. and have been doing so for months now. I've only downloaded 2 games.
The games offered are nice and all, but it just seems like they are dressed-up versions of the stuff we can play for free. I'd like to see something involving a little more strategy, not just puzzle and match games.

My review of Jewel Craft:
This is the third match-3 that we've gotten in a row. At least they all have had original matching mechanics. In Jewel Craft, the different "jewels" are on the faces of cubes, and the cubes are rotated to match them. In Jewel Craft, the objective is not to mindlessly clear jewels, but to match the right ones to complete your task. It is actually possible to lose the game, as cubes only last for a few matches before disintegrating, leaving holes in the board. Fortunately, there is a bonus that refills the holes.
The graphics are nice, with pencilled story pages and shiny jewels. The way the jewels vibrate before a match is made looks nice, and the cut gemstones fly off of the board smoothly.
I really like the sounds in this game. The music is nice and Mesopotamian-sounding, the matching sound is nice and original, and nothing sounds low-budget or annoying.
At first glance, the theme is nice, but when playing the game it becomes clear that the designers have only a vague knowledge of history. Among the many flaws are a Babylonian king being buried in Saudi Arabia, instead of Iraq; his tomb containing pirate chests(with jeweled inlays!); said chests containing scrolls rather than clay tablets; a nobleman having a gray beard, when he would have dyed it black; and Babylonian jewelry having Egyptian motifs. It is also never explained why the ancient Babylonians arranged their gems into patterns to cut them, rather than just shaping them with files and hammers.
The most glaring design flaw, though, was the overabundance of "hints" while playing the earlier levels. At the beginning of those levels, there will be a message box telling you to rotate a specific cube in a specific direction. Even though there are countless other options, it will only let you rotate that cube in that direction. Fortunately, there are only a few levels like that.
Overall, I give Jewel Craft a score of seven and three quarters out of ten(eight for gameplay, eight for graphics, nine for sound, and six for theme). I do not like most match-3s, but this was a pleasant exception.
>Wizand
You're not supposed to play match-3s for "10, 20, or 30" consecutive levels. It's like eating cotton candy all day for breakfast, lunch, and supper.

I love this game! I found a 1 hour demo of it in July and have been waiting ever since to get it for free.

It took a few levels before I had any idea what I was doing. However, the game is actually rather simple to play once one understands what is going on.
It is rather tedious checking all of the gems to determine what is on each of the non-visible sides and what is underneath, though such techniques occasionally become necessary when trying to play effectively. Similarly, it is a nuisance fliping the various gems. A hybrid control scheme (arrows to flip, mouseover to select (no need to click) and to see four of the non-visible sides) would probably have enabled more rapid control of the jewels.
Overall, the game is a moderately entertaining puzzler that suffers from some amount of tedium. This is partially due to the interface and partially due to the nature of the game itself.
One thing that I do find intriguing is the power-up design. In essence, one earns them as a reward for making moves which waste jewels, so any time a power-up is earned it means

I haven't had time to download it yet - so is it the same one?

I like puzzle games. Keep 'em coming!
This game works under my Vista Ultimate 32 bit but the action of moving the gems into place is a bit slow. I found my mouse action was a bit erratic and slow on windows and with the custom cursor. I'm using full screen with normal cursor and it works better.
I've got 2 GB memory and a 2.4 GHZ processor so it should not be this slow.
It's a bit unusual and not a normal match 3. In fact, in some cases you need more than match 3. It's a little strange to see more than 3 in a group and not have it "match" until you add one.
A nice game!

In answer to #1: I was a bit puzzled at first myself, by the lack of instructions, but then I found the help button in the options, and that was very useful. Playing the Story mode took care of the rest, as they give you the basic object of the game and a tutorial at the same time. I fumbled around through the first couple of levels, but after that it started to make sense.
In answer to #11: If you build up your bonuses by cutting extra gems that aren't needed for the piece of jewelry you're working on, you can replace some of those missing blocks. That will help with your orphaned blocks problem. I was not quite sure of what use the bonuses were in the first couple of levels, but as the levels advanced, their uses became clearer. Try just playing around with them on the lower levels just to get used to them. It helped me, anyway.
I didn't have any problem installing the game, or setting it up, and it seems to run smoothly for me on Windows XP. I like puzzle games - like #9, I play them for relaxation - that's why my favorites so far have been The Rise of Atlantis and Arabica. I like match three games a good deal, but appreciate the fact that both Arabica and Jewel Craft are variations on that style game. Now I have options - when I get bored of one, I have several different types to choose from.
I've just been following this site for about a week, and I've already gotten three games I intend to play for some time. I'm sure for those who've been around a lot longer, it may seem to be the same old thing, but so far, I'm thrilled with the options I've been given, and appreciate the opportunity to get free games, no matter what type they are. If the game turns out not to be for me, it's not like I've actually wasted my money or anything - all I've lost is an hour of my time - and since I'm disabled, I've got the time to take that gamble.
And with an extremely limited income, I don't have the money to be buying games anyway, so this site is a great gift for me. I've already added a ticker to my blog in hopes of increasing the user base - more users means new developers willing to give the site a chance, which means new games. I don't see a down side to this. So thank you, GGOTD, for the concept - and for putting it into practice so well. I'm very grateful.

Way too many puzzle games lately. Getting tired of these. Ok story, ok graphics, ok gameplay but it bores you to hell after 10, 20 or 30 levels.

I would like to see some more adventure games given away. (like might and magic 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 (not heroes) (theese games can you at least get for $ 19.99)) All theese arcade games are booring (my opinion)
Save | Cancel
Not your typical match-3 at all, and quite well crafted (pun intended). It takes a few levels for you to get the hang of where they're going with the story. A good idea is to play through the first 8 levels or so of story first - then the strategy component and thinking-ahead starts to become important. Don't forget to mouse-over the icon in the far lower right to see exactly what you're supposed to build.
Criticisms are that it appears somewhat random when your blocks run out in a specific area, which can leave you with orphaned blocks. There should be some sort of warning when you're down to your last couple of blocks, so you can try and use a bit more strategy in the gameplay.
My kid is going to love this, and I kind of like it too. Much better to craft jewellery.
Solid thumbs-up from me!

First time posting. Downloaded and activated easily. Game played fine. Music is relaxing. Was hoping the game would be like The Treasures of Montezuma which I am hooked on but this game is not nearly as good. Played it for an hour and then uninstalled it because the pace was so slow. Thanks Game Giveaway of the Day for all the good games you offer.

I like jewel-matching games. I play these games for relaxation, not intellectual stimulation. I hope people who don't like these games get games they do like, but GOATD shouldn't stop giving away games that a significant portion of the population enjoys.
I raised Atlantis last night. Now I want to sink it! Atlantis is meant to stay below the waves lol.

Installation:
The zip file unzips to a read me file and a single activation and set up file, so installation is a breeze. If you wish to install the game to a drive other than the boot drive (which will help keep your computer running at optimal speed) the install wizard gives you the opportunity to browse your computer and select other locations other than the default program files.
Introduction & Game info:
Here is a game developed by Game over Games and provided by Merscom LLC. Momof3, comment #1, Laura Sierra comment #3 and SD comment #6 sum up the game admirably. I haven’t the time to do a full review today, so this intro and game info section are mainly cut and paste jobs from various sites ;) The conclusion is about the only section that has my own thoughts written down.
• Fast-paced point-and-click game play
• 2 exciting modes of play: story and challenge
• 21 puzzling levels
• 7 useful Power-ups and bonuses
• Engaging ambient music and sound
• Rich artwork and deep storyline

System Requirements:
OS: Windows XP Windows Vista
Memory: 512 MB
DirectX: 7.0 or later
CPU: P1.6 GHz
Video: 32MB 3D Video Card
Most systems should comply with the above requirements unless you have a pre millenium shop bought computeras opposed to a self build computer), though I still had a 1.5GHz CPU in one of my computers up until a few months ago (CPU’s still available if anyone wants it for free)
Conclusion:
I realized when I started playing this that I already had the game (I purchased it for my daughter as she loves jewel matching games). I have far too many these days
This is definitely a thumb up from me today (I rarely give a thumbs down). The game play is great and has an absorbing story line that adds to the overall feel of the game. There is no help menu; however the start of any new game in both story and challenge mode has a reasonable animated tutorial that you cannot skip. Thankfully when you decide you’ve had enough for the day, the game is automatically saved. The game is fully mouse controlled and the music is relaxing and appropriate and for me adds to the overall feel of the game This is worth 7.5 out of 10 from me, and if you’re into jewel matching games would definitely be worth even more..
Thank you Merscom LLC and the Game Giveaway for a pleasant game today

Just another match three game. It's ok and it's free, and for that, I'm glad; sometimes. Seems to me that they need to change up a bit. How about a ' seek-and-find ' game now and then? That would be a major treat for us. Not everyday, but now and again, it would be really nice instead of the same old freebies. Kind of tired of screensavers, arcade, blaster, and match three games over and over. This one is simplistic and a good game for my nine year old. She really is grateful for the free games that I collect for her. But, please; can we have a seek-and-find game once in awhile? Something that challenges the brain?
