Jane’s Hotel sounds like a fun game that should be given to all hotel managers if you ask me. That would get the fire under their belts for marketing and running their hotel. If not, it would be a good and fun waste of time.

JAYJAY needs to learn how to read. The giveaway 2 weeks ago was Jane's Hotel. This giveaway is Jane's Hotel: Family Hero. In other words, it is NOT the same game.

If you're a fan of the Diner Dash kinds of games, then this one is for you. The biggest differences between JH:FH and JH are pretty much the storyline and hotel cosmetics, and this time around, you get a bellhop to go along with your maid. The bellhop makes things a little more hectic, but that's what sets this game apart from the first one.

Thumbs down. Thank you for the freeby, but compared to DinerDash, it doesn't hold up. Much too repetitive and very slow to get to the heart of the matter. It's a good game to play if you have absolutely nothing to do. A good game for me is something that you want to keep playing and don't want to stop. This one I can walk away from in a heartbeat.

Very entertaining and addicting. Some improvements over the first game such as: ability to train and increase speed of workers, carrying 2 items at once, larger choice of items to purchase for upgrades and therefore you can avoid plants to water. But if you do have plants, it is still better in this version: watering can can be upgraded, maid has watering can with her at all times (eliminates extra time to pick that up from back room) and you can water whenever you want, avoiding plants dying.
Only down side is that it never gets very difficult and so while it is fun, it isn't much of a challenge. The first game was also easy EXCEPT for the very last level. The new version has no really difficult level.

Nice game. But additional parts of work (changing bed cloths, cleaning clothes, taking photos, selling souvenirs, ...) don't work.
Is this a beta? Trial? argh...

Well, now I have actually played through two of the hotels and started the 3rd (the one in Japan). The graphics are a slight improvement over the original. I would say that it is more fun than the original. The addition of assistants and upgrades is a nice touch.
The only fault I find with the game is that for some reason it makes mouse response sluggish. I tested it on two different computers and mice that normally work well in other games suddenly move a lot more sluggishly in this game. It is still quite playable though.
Perhaps a later patch will address that.
In any case, if you liked the original game than you will really like this one.

To Post #64 on unzipping files: Double-click on the zipped file so that you can see the contents of the file (usually 2 or 3 files are in a Giveaway zipped folder). On the menu bar at the top of the Windows Explorer window, click on "File" (the first one on the menu bar), and in the drop-down menu that appears, click on "Extract All...". An "Extraction Wizard" window will appear. At the bottom of that window, click on the "Next >" button. In the following window, you can select the destination of the files that will be extracted from the zipped folder; however, the default location will extract the files to a regular folder with the same name as the zipped folder with the said regular folder being placed within the same folder that the original Zip folder is in...thus, it won't be hard to find; so, instead having to select any destination, you can just click on the "Next >" button again. The Wizard will start extracting the files; it will take a few seconds to extract the 24.7 MB of file data...maybe even around a minute. When it is done extracting, a "Finish" button will show at the bottom of the window, and if you click on the "Finish" button (and the "Show extracted files" check-box is checked), then it will open up the newly created same named, but regular, folder (in this case "JanesHotelFamilyHero" by default) that contains the newly extracted files.

I don't usually play games and the only computer game I play with any regularity is Solitaire. My decision to download this was a good one. I have played most of the day and have thoroughly enjoyed myself. It is almost mindless but with enough strategy needed to make it fun. I see this as a very useful game in the education realm for the mentally impaired student. This will help with decision making and time management and if they don't get it right they play the same day until they are happy with their score. No hurt feelings for the player. I with there were more explanations and the comments went with the scenerio but still a lot of easy fun. Thank you GGOD for everything.

figured it out! when you go in to play a saved game, click on player, then your name, then start and it works like a charm. made it all the way through the game, the fourth hotel has everything and it also requires you to move back and forth to see all of the room, was very challenging and fun. this is a great sequel and once the kinks are worked out will be even better. would love to see a version with more levels! did figure out too that you don't have to buy the furniture and upgrades in order they appear. great game thanks ggotd!

Most of the times, the games are not to my liking or I have them already. But then there are the times something new comes along or I get something back that I lost because of hard drive crash. I'm just happy to get what I get when it comes along and it's what I want.

What's wrong with so many of you out there????

This is a sequel to the original Jane's Hotel game. Contrary to other posts, I think it is great of the developers to have offered their original game more than once. This allows people who have heard about it through word of mouth to also get a chance at downloading and trying this game.
I am not very into time-management games but Diner Dash and this one are exceptions. Adults will find this to be a light game that does require some strategy and great as a simple game to play when you just want to unwind.
Kids, on the other hand will love it. My daughters and nieces really get a kick out of playing this game. I look forward to purchasing one or two of their other games as well. Many thanks to GOTD. Had it not been for this site and getting to try a full version of this program I never would have given this game a 2nd look. Not only have I happily recommended this game to others but will now look into purchasing other games from a developer I never would have even known about if not for this site.
I have not gotten a chance yet to play this sequel but if time permits before the download time is over I will be happy to provide feedback on this one as well.

reinstalled and got to the third hotel and then it froze up again. did notice a few errors, in the 2nd hotel the button for upgrades gives you furniture and vice versa, also, noticed that in the 1st hotel it has you buy a camera but there is no item to take pictures with. not sure why it keeps telling us to use porter, clean clothes, etc. while working the first two hotels, at the point I made it to for the 3rd hotel I did get the porter and clothes cleaning but still no sheets to change or gift shop. also in the 1st hotel it started me off with the mixer and then had me buy a mixer! am enjoying this sequel, going to try and restart and hope I don't lose all my progress.

Hi Brigid,

Right click on the zip file and select unzip to. I'm assuming you don't have winrar, which i s probably one of the best archive programmes around, so the one that comes with windows should suffice. Once unzipped click on the combined setup and activation module for the game to be fully functioning. (I've not used the windows default program for a long time a sI always install winrar when I reinstall Windows, so can't remember exactly what the commands are, but they will be obvious when you right click on the zip file.

I do hope you get things sorted before the giveaway time is over.

Regards

Whiterabbit.

Sorry I've not been around much today. I was distracted by filefronts closure. :(

Ok at first I wondered if this was same as one couple weeks ago and no it is not. This game needed a sequel and the creators did well in improving a lot of areas. Would be nice if this game had better graphics and animations. But for what they chose to do this is a good game. Not for the person use to high graphic/animation games. but for the average person this is worthwhile.
Graphics 8/10
Action 8/10
U.I. 9/10
Overall 8/10
I would say it is worth your time.

I downloaded this game and find it to be boring. It's too simple and like another poster said you can buy a camera and then not use it. The comments at the start of a level talk about stuff that doesn't happen like the sheets and the suitcases. Disappointed with this one.

Hi Stexe,

Mainly Oblivion and Morrowing mods, but also Fallout 3, Battlefield 2, Mount & Blade, COD4, Serious Sam 1st, 2nd encounters and Serious Sam 2, there's more, but I've just decided to give up on it after four days of downloading. I've only just realized there's bette things to do, lol. A lot of the mods and other files will still be available elsewere, so I've just been copying the file lists for the last few hours. Most of the last four days have been spent downloading Oblivion mods only. Yesterday my wife picked up a really nasty virus (I'd stupidly turned off the AV software, and now I can't gain access to the majority of the files I've downloaded over the last few days. I've taken the HDD's out of the computer and am going to recover the files via another computer (hopefully) sometime over the next few days, otherwise it was all just a wasted excercise. :)

I have been waiting for this one for so long.
It's funny reading the comments how so many people didn't even check it out and Assumed it was the first Jane's hotel and not the sequel and couldn't wait to come and be all nasty about it. Guess its like what is said about ASS U & ME (assume)... lol.

Anyways, I have been wishing for the sequel to Jane's hotel for quite sometime and feeling very happy to see you all finally got it. I'm downloading it right now and looking forward to playing it. I have tried it before on another site with one of those one hour trials and I liked it. I like the first one too. Even though the game is pretty simple and not incredibly challenging, It's relaxing for me and fun which is something I REALLY look forward to.

I deal with chronic pain and so I always like to find games that are simple with some challenge but mostly fun, relaxing and distracting. This game is like that for me. I like kids games most times as long as they aren't insanely easy!

Anyways, thank you GGotD... this is a great site/service. I love it.

Got all the way to the Japanese level and game closed.

Pretty mindless game, sometimes pressured. I did wonder why Jane kept picking her nose after a client would check out. ;-) And being so busy at times as to leave the money on the counter made me worry someone would take it.

Gotta love the cool black dude...maybe he has a thing for Jane, the way he keeps following her around from hotel to hotel? (Though they all do, hmm.) At least he's easy on the eyes, can't say much for the other guys, yuck.

Nice graphics, just overall mindless play. It would be nice to have a wait staff to take care of the restaurant option.

Hope the game at least saves itself and doesn't error out again.

Wow, didn't know FileFront was closing. Whiterabbit what mods were you downloading? Seems so sudden, I mean I don't usually download stuff from there, but still it was a nice resource to have...

By the way, how do companies get their stuff featured on GGotD? I'd like to see if I could get my game up here eventually... I mean they could use some new content even if it isn't the best thing out there.

I really liked the first Jane's Hotel, but this one is kind of disappointing. They keep telling me that my maid can change sheets, but there's no icon for it and nobody asks for them. They keep telling me that my porter can bring up suitcases and sell presents at the gift shop, but neither one of those is materializing either. And what was the point of buying a camera if nobody was ever going to ask me to take their picture? And in the first game, if somebody asked for something and then somebody else asked for the same thing, as long as you hadn't done something different in between, you could still just click on the person who wanted it and they'd get it. With this version, it seems like there is some kind of a time factor. If you wait to long, you have to click on the item again before you can give it to the person.

I haven't had any problems with loading games like one of the comments above.

I really enjoyed playing Jane's Hotel and I'm delighted to get this version. This game seems a bit simpler, maybe too simple, with the addition of the bellhop. Already at the 4th hotel with not even a bit of effort. However, the characters are great fun to watch and the game plays flawlessly.
