Jacks Sokoman was available as a giveaway on December 19, 2007!
New challenges are waiting for Jack and this also means new adventures!
This time boxes and other items must be moved to their designated destinations. And this is where all problems start: boxes can only be pushed and can not be pulled! In addition there are other things that make life for Jack more miserable like nasty little creatures that call warehouses their home and do not like intruders very much.
Add to that a strict time limit and you will know why Jack could use all the help you can give him!
Pentium III 600 MHz; 32 MB RAM; 16 MB 3D videocard; Windows 98/Me/2000/XP; DirectX 8.1 or above

You have to try a few times, but they eventually load.

I think that playing sokoban with time limitations is not a good idea anyway.
Yet another free alternative:

Complete waste of time because it's unplayable! And Jack's a bobblehead--well, bobblebody (annoying)!
Magnussoft should be arrested for pretending to be a game company. I can't believe they can't even make a simple Sokoban-like game.
2 thumbs and 2 big toes DOWN! Even D*****Games puts them to shame!!!

Bad or bloated games that are free, still are bad/bloated.
If there are better alternatives, freeware or commercial, the company should know & do something about it!
Same with male Republicans, they are still incompetent, it's just that now, the people are aware of it!
Merry Christmas everybody.

My review of Sokoman:
I saw this game on the site and had to ask myself how someone could misspell Sokoban. Since the game was from Magnussoft, I already had low expectations, but I downloaded and installed it anyway.
When I ran the game, I was greeted with a logo screen that seems to have been made in the mid-90s. Rainbow-y lasers zip around the screen, etching out the word "MAGNUSSOFT" in large, blocky, dated-looking rainbow letters. A silver swoosh then encircled it like Saturn's ring, before it faded out. Add to that the horrendously low resolution, and I literally thought that I was playing a game ported from DOS.
Then came the main menu. The "help" section was text-heavy, which is odd, considering that Sokoban is one of the simplest game concepts in the world. I didn't bother reading it, but I'm sure that more than a few grammatical errors would have appeared if I had. The only way to get out of it was by hitting the "back" arrow repeatedly. There were quite a few pages of "help", so I just clicked repeatedly until I got back to the main menu - and then the game exited. Perplexed, I ran it again, and found a "back" arrow on the menu, as well - it was the exit button. Already this game has points deducted for bad menu navigation and graphics, but there's still hope for the gameplay, right?
The answer is an emphatic NO. It seems that Magnussoft recycled the engine from Squiek, meaning that Jack(s?) will either move one square at a time, two, or none at all, depending on how many quarter-seconds you hold down a directional key. In a game like Sokoban, where precision is necessary, the controls are almost unuseable.
That brings me to my next gripe - Jack(I'll leave the s out) can only push a crate if you hold down the directional button for one second. Any less and he won't push it at all, any more and it jumps two squares forward. Again, this completely kills the game's playability.
The graphics are a weird jumble of 3D and 2D tiles and objects, Jack walks perpendicular to the ground, and the title on the menu screen is in over-smoothed 3D. When I say "over-smoothed", I mean, "so high-poly that it looks like goo". That wouldn't be so bad if the letters weren't wood-textured and externally lit.
The music wasn't all that bad, compared to the other games that I've gotten from this site - it was the same boring techno drone that we've all come to expect. As for the sound effects, though, I ended up muting my speakers. There are literally three sound effects - walking, pushing, and dying. I ended up using the "die" button a lot, because of the impossible situations that I kept gettin into - and I heard the same constipated grunt every time. Ecch. The walking effect sounds like tap shoes on linoleum, and the pushing sound is a stock stone-grinding noise - which is odd, because neither the crates nor the ground are stone. Weird. There's probably a sound effect for when you complete the level, too, but I never got past the first one.
As for the theme, well, apparently it takes place in some kind of mine. I'll give it points for originality.
My overall score for this game is four and a quarter out of ten(four for gameplay, three for graphics, two for sound, and eight for theme). Bottom line: With all of the freeware Sokoban games on the web, with better graphics, sounds, and control, it's a wonder that Magnussoft is still in business.
Small side note: Apparently Magnussoft spent thirteen years working on this game. How they managed to screw it up so bad is beyond my understanding.

This game is free, and horrible. I'm not telling you not to appreciate it, but you're telling me not to criticize it?

Games are just games. Free ones are even worth less. Worthless?
Well, the SIZE does seem inordinate to me. There are so many better uses for my hard drive.
Still, if you would complain about a FREE game, you would likely vote for some female Democrat, too, right?

Well I don't have time to play it for long right now but the controls seem to work fine for me. I have XP pro on an HP. It did hang up when starting the first time ... perhaps due to my internet radio taking a lot of resources ... but it's working fine now - even with my internet radio going strong!
BTW ... totally off topic ... is everyone (or anyone) aware that Pandora lets you create your own radio station with music that suits your tastes! And pick and choose what it plays! http://www.pandora.com/ FREE I have 3 stations now for my differing moods.

Not so fond of the past "Jacks" games so I will be skipping download today. Magnussoft: please consider useing a different logo screen, as this is what causes your games to be so large in size. Not a big problem though, Just alot of dial-ups won't even attempt to try a game of this size, so untill dial-up is no longer on market, please consider.(Just my opinion) GGOTD: Please keep up the good work. I love this site and have kept and bought several great games you have offered. Thank you so much for this everyday. Will be back tomorrow.

I'm going to try this one ... for # 8 and # 17 - maybe some of us aren't up to your standards of gameplay but I happen to enjoy fooling around with the last Jack game that GGAOTD had! I don't play it a lot since I prefer Mahjong types but I do play it and will give this one a try too. I've not had any trouble with the controls in that one (Boulder Match).

I tend to avoid magnussoft games. I have yet to find one that is worth keeping.
#10 - I have been trying your link all day. Firefox keeps timing out and IE7 just says there is a problem. I like Sokoban games but it looks like I am striking out entirely today.

Any game in the "Jack's _____" series is an automatic thumbs down. These games are badly programmed, massively bloated code wise, and are just plain unfun. (not to the mention the fact that if the spell checking were done by a 10 year old, there would be less errors in that area)

@Karzon -- Thanks for the link. I'll be checking that one out right away!

The game cannot be installed!
The giveaway setup.exe is crashing with visual C++ runtime error.
Please fix this issue and upload a working version!

Thanks anyway ... I am passing on this one today because of mostly negative comments. I play a game to advance and win = iffy controls to move boxes will get me upset quickly. If the controls could be fixed to work properly, I would then give it a try. Thanks !

Two box push instead of one, what a joke.

A Sokoban clone at 46 MB! Does this include two copies of .NET framework or something similiar?
I play Sokoban (DHTML Sokoban) from InsideDHTML.com, LLC (Check this out at http://www.siteexperts.com/games/sokoban/page1.asp ) and the whole directory size is 93.7 kB. Throw in some better graphic blocks instead of simple GIFs (Say 1 MB), some sound (say 5MB worth of MP3), Still this is less than 46 MB!
A sure NO to this.

I usually enjoy box-pushing games too, but this one is impossible to play. Jack will push the box two spaces instead of one. Indeed back to the drawing board guys.

As with all other "Jacks..." games, the controls in this game are worthless. When you try to push a box one space it moves two spaces. All the "Jacks..." games are like this. I love Sokoban games but this is one to stay away from.
I play Sokoban for Windows 2.3 from http://www.sourcecode.se/sokoban/. I played this game for 9 months before I registered it. It has hundreds of levels, including all the levels from the original Sokoban game, several different skins, and several hundreds more user created levels available. It is shareware but it is really cheap, and, like I said, I continued playing 8 months AFTER the 30 day trial was over with no limitations (other then a few minor features being disabled).
I would appeal to Magnussoft to fix the controls in all of your "one move, two spaces" games and make the graphix more "up to date".
Thanks GGAOTD for everything and HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone!

This one is impossible to win. The controls are way too flaky. Pushing just one space is impossible to do through an entire level. The music is monotinous too. I really wonder if the people who wrote the game ever actually played it. They probably did, that's why their giving it away. Back to the drawing board boys, this one sucks.

ANGEL, if you come back- TRY it again. It probably got interupted too many times during its download, like if you were playing an online game or such. It happens to me on different sites downloads sometimes even, as I web-surf during downloads. Then make sure you read the readme, so you get the full version free, if you activate it right. :) Downloading this now, thank you GAOTD team & Magnusoft! :) I love Sokoban type games.

I downloaded this game, went to unzip it, and it says bad file/not completed. I thought it strange when it said 10 mins to download and yet it was done in a few seconds. So unfortunatley, I cannot play the game.

Hm. I usually enjoy box-pushing games, but this one's controls are very iffy. Jack will push the box two spaces instead of one, etc., leaving you no solution to the puzzle. Thanks anyway, GGAOTD... as usual. And thanks for you link, Karzon... will check it out.

This one's a simple sokoban clone (ie push the blocks into the right squares). For anyone older/looking for something more complex, I'd recommend the freeware Subterra 1&2 ( http://crystalshard.net/subdown.htm) which allow for sokoban style puzzles, boulderdash style puzzles, and a ton more.
