must have started out as lazy/crummy programming but the episodes of having the balls go 'off the rails' & ruin the game are positively disgraceful! ...and the fact that no one has EVER fixed the flaws is even more so ...as is the non-implementation of a random scene generator to shuffle the scenes (to help keep long time users more interested) ...thirty lashes for them AND 20 days on moldy bread and scummy water

this is the sixth time this has been given away, the first time back in 2008, then again 2010, 2011 and twice in 2012 (Feb & Nov). it's been three and a half years since it was last given away. Todays version isn't from Playrix as it has been in the past, but from MyPlayCity, so you can expect to see your browser opening firstly when you install the game and whenever you close the game down after playing it. Apart from that, all other negatives such as tool bars, home page changes, browser changes have been removed.

This looks like an OK game, but unfortunately it's completely useless to me because it does not have a COLOR BLIND mode. Both types of green balls look identical to me, and it's too hard to identify them by the pattern as they're rolling quickly, so I can't play it. Thankfully Zuma and Zuma's Revenge have a COLOR BLIND mode.
It would be great if developers remembered that not everyone can see every color.

Oh, yay! I had this game on a computer that died some time ago, so I'm glad to rediscover it: I really like the smooth play, the bright and crisp graphics, and the music. It's great eye-candy clicking for a 20 - 30 minute break from working.
Unlike some of the wiz-kids here, I really need to use power-ups from Level 6 on, when you have two separate conga-lines of balls snaking around; but you get plenty of money to buy the power-ups.

Since GGOTD have opened this door, what about featuring a game directly from MyPlayCity or Gametop on those days when there isn't a giveaway, or there's just a Steam key raffle? We'd still get your great reviews, Whiterabbit, keep the sense of community and sharing of information here, and still accommodate those people who enjoy complaining.
Just a thought ...

This game sounds very familiar, but I don't see it installed on my computer. Maybe it was installed on my older computer. As for this game type, I really enjoyed the Luxor games so there is no reason for me to to not enjoy this one. I rather like shooting the balls from below as opposed to shooting from a rotating cannon in the center like an old arcade game I once played, but cannot recall the name of (I believe Zuma is this way as well). However, I would rather get it directly from MyPlayCity since this is one of their games. The reason is, I can save the installer for future use. Yes, it is more difficult than it used to be, but not impossible. Plus, I can then install it wherever I want. Unfortunately their normal installer stub gives you no option where to install- it does everything automatically- and I install my games on the hard drive so I can keep the SSD clean with just the OS and application programs.

I really don't like this genre. It gets too repetitive for me and I lose interest in the game. I didn't download it today for that reason. I'm sure there are those that absolutely love the game though. The graphics from your screenshots Stephen looked quite vivid.....a lot of work went into the game. It's just not my cup of tea.

My antivirus came up with trojan attack when trying to install. Deleted everything
Save | Cancel
The Themida code really isn't the issue. On two out of two occasions, my AV software detected MyPlayCity game executables as trojans during installation, and quarantined them. It has never done that with any other software or games from GOTD, so it can't be the wrapper. The problem may or may not be one of 'false positives' but it is specific to MyPlayCity. I suspect it is related to the way that MPC games (not necessarily the ones on GOTD) hijack browsers and launch external processes without being asked.
Save | Cancel
Hi Stephen, thanks for your very thoughtful response, and I am also sorry for being so slow to reply in return.
I accept that everything you say about the risk factor is very reasonable and most probably true. However, my policy is not to ignore AV alerts unless I am either distrustful of the AV software (I'm not) or extremely familiar with the developer's products (I'm not that either).
I sincerely think it's MPC's responsibility to address the false positives issue and clear their reputation with the AV community. Although I think they are probably nothing worse than irritating, MPC definitely don't fall into the category of fully trusted software suppliers for whom I would consider reporting a false positive to my AV developers. So in fact, I believe I'm doing them a favour by raising this here.
On the subject of Inca Ball, I must admit I was a little bit grouchy about missing out on acquiring a DRM-free copy of it. I've played it previously. It's a great game, although slightly too addictive for comfort.

I don't know how the download of this is, I already have this game so no need to download it. However, as for game play, I loved playing when I first purchased it some time back. I don't play it often now but it is still a game that I'll bring out on the days I'm not in the mood for things like Fallout 4 or the MMOs I play. If I rated it I would give it a solid 7 out of 10 rating.

Hey Wrascally Wabbit,
Already have Inca Ball. I love those Zuma/PopCap type games but I NEED the power ups..No way could I play without them. Love the graphics and music.
Speaking of changes.. PopCap is no more to me..since EA/Origins bought them. I loved Bookworm, Peggle(I even have a Peggle WOW), Chuzzle and all the Bejeweled games. I heard they had a NEW Bejeweled game for Android and I rushed to check it out. I read some of the comments.. Oh BOY! It uses up the cpu big time and makes your device run hot. Then..They say you can play without buying things..but..If you lose all your lives you have to WAIT a time period before you get more..plus a lot of other restrictions. So you really do need to buy it.....BUT>>>>>>And the deal breaker..You HAVE to be ONLINE to play. So I guess taking it camping with me is out. Another gaming icon dead to me!
Anyways thanks MPC and GGOTD for the game and the floppied eared one for review. Hugs to you and your family.
As far as the steam games, Since I can't post in the forum I have to post here. I have so many games I haven't played plus trying to transfer many of them to Linux. :) ...Just give the ones you would give to me to people like JBurt or others who have families/kids. But thanks for the offer, oh great game mentor. This is really a great idea. And you should really think about what Fran and historymom suggested. Your reviews are priceless at times.

Fun game. That being said, I'm not grasping how this can be called a giveaway. You still get the browser screen when closing it. You can get the same game at Gametop for free with no whammies except the browser going to their site when exiting and you don't have to disable your antivirus to get it. The name has been changed to Azteca. Sad to see what this site has become. Maybe it's time for a name change. ?

I have this one from a previous Giveaway and really liked it.
However I hate power-ups and don't use them on many games (this one included) since they make the games to easy for me. This game can be won without resorting to making the game easier to play. I pass that bit of information on to those who wish to know if it is possible.
Love this game's frightening music.

I like this one! I'm only a few levels into it but find it keeps me focused developing strategies and shooting accurately. One of those games where I might forget to breathe at times!
- Overall it seems a perfect balance of action and thinking.
- I like the creation of a desktop icon, installation was easy.
- Lets me switch between game and desktop using Alt-Tab, while keeping proper screen resolution for both.
- The "How to Play" screen covers everything well -- concise and clear.
- Graphics look fine to me, they work very well for the game and not a bunch of distracting stuff going on. I would not change them!
- I like the music so far but hope it changes once in a while.
- I haven't tried any of the powerups yet but expect they will be very useful in later levels, they're a good idea that adds an extra dimension to the game.
- Runs great on my Vista 32-bit system, I hope it's offered again after I get a new computer but I would probably buy this one.

Excellent game. It's one of THOSE games - the kind you get addicted to quite quickly and next thing you know it you've played for hours and your kids are starving lol Just kidding. Being how it is a very small game, it downloaded (even on capped bandwidth), installed and ran just fine on my windows 10 computer. I've got a beast of a computer built for gaming so this little game flew right off the screen. :) The Graphics aren't wonderful but that's ok. My screen is a little on the bigger side and I don't think the game was natively designed for it, so I just ran it in windowed mode and that was good enough. The music lol ..well, it's just adorable I love it. (If I'm allowed to say this reminds me of Zuma) Thanks you the great game.

Love this game! Only wish there were more versions or maybe new power up and levels that could be added to change it up. Still play it after YEARS!

I bought this years ago and still play it. I love Zuma-type games and I really think this is one of the best. It gets hard in the later levels but the game offers power-ups that can be bought with points (including extra lives, which is what saved me). Over time I've ended up playing against myself just to see how few power-ups I can buy and thus increase my points. :-)

This was the first time in ages that I've had any trouble getting a program from GOTD up and running. The download itself was quick, but unpacking the zipped file took so long I thought it must have been corrupted. Same thing after clicking setup - My HD ran and ran, but nothing happened for several minutes. Once the setup dialog finally appeared, it went smoothly, and now the game is running fine. Weird. (Win7/64)
ANYway -- I used to play Zuma and I'd forgotten how fun it was. As others have said, the graphics are a bit dated, but the gameplay is solid. My only suggestion would be for the windowed mode to be scaleable. I prefer it to full-screen, but it's pretty tiny.
Thanks for a good game, GGOTD, MPC, and as always, thanks Whiterabbit for your review.

I've had Inca Ball in the past, and do enjoy playing it! I'd almost forgotten about it, since I don't currently (but will soon) have it on the laptop I use now. Thank you for the game!
As for improvements - I like it the way it is just fine. I find many of the newer games of this genre are going to a 3-D format, and I find that very difficult to focus on. I guess wearing bi-focals (or maybe just age/coordination in general) may have something to do with it. But I do have great difficulty playing those ones, and tend to give them a huge "pass".
Anyway - I plan to spend many enjoyable hours playing Inca Ball again - though I'm sure my husband may not thank you for that ;)

I don't like marble-popping games, and no improvement to any particular game would make me like them.
But I am entirely happy for genres I don't like to be offered, because it means that games that I like that others don't, make it into the rotation.

drd, Nobody said MALWARE, you said that, were saying there is an error of some sort that makes it not work with our system and causes it to CRASH. I am using Windows 10 64 Bit latest version fully updated.
You should have mentioned that "My Play City" extra adware stuff was going to be installed along with the software, I believe that is the root of the problem.
Either way, this is not your fault, maybe nobody's fault, like I said were speaking of problems that for whatever reason will not allow it to work on our PC's and or Operating systems.
Save | Cancel
Drd, Sorry, my last comment was meant to reply to the Moderator, not you.
But I must say, I don't believe this is any type of VIRUS or MALWARE, I think it has to do with computer PC configurations or perhaps a file being corrupted during the download process in some way.

Thank you for another great game Whiterabbit-uk and GAOTD team! Downloaded on Windows 10 64 with no problems and no warnings from my security/anti-virus. The usual extras that you get from MyPlayCity but the changing home page etc has been taken out when installing, so the worst that happens is it opens MyPlayCity when you close the game out - no big deal.
A fun, very addicting game. I'd had Zuma previously and then my hard drive crashed. The graphics are colorful and play is much better when you remember all the things that left/right mouse click will do for you. :/ Music is non-intrusive and pleasant.
Another definite keeper for me and one which I will have to learn to tear myself away from!! At this point, I see nothing I would want changed! Thank you again!!

Well, I'm not quite sure what I can add to the comments on this game. It's a fairly straight-forward ball-pop matching game. I was introduced to this type of game via Luxor, which is a high quality game, so I can't help but compare the two a bit.
As described above you shoot a single colored ball at a line of colored balls that are moving through a set path towards an end point, the goal being to clear all the balls in the line before they reach said point. You need three or more of the same color in order to remove them. There are power-ups that can be "purchased" by points earned in-game to help with clearing more difficult levels. At the beginning, the game helpfully gives you 60,000 points and instructs you to purchase the first three power-ups available: bomb, chain reaction, and extra life. You can double click on each icon to see an example of the power-up in use and you can purchase multiples of each item. Other power-ups become available on later levels. These power-ups are in addition to the random power-ups you get while playing the game (more on those later) and are located along the bottom of the screen while you play. When you want to use a power-up you simply click on it to load it and shoot it where you need it. I'm not really crazy about power-ups like this; I prefer the random ones given while playing. They seem superfluous to the game and I tend to accidentally click them when the line of balls is traveling close to the bottom of the screen. Oftentimes the bottom part of the screen is the end point and you are furiously trying to clear balls, so accidentally hitting one of the power-ups and using it BADLY can often happen. While not as often, it does occasionally happen when the line is at the top. The shooter travels in a horizontal line along the bottom and it doesn't matter where the mouse pointer is vertically, so the pointer itself often travels to various points along the vertical line. You have to pay attention to where this pointer is in order to keep it from wandering down to the power-up balls. I don't like this much at all. It's distracting from the game itself.
Power-ups provided during the game include a multi-colored ball that can be used between two different colors to clear them, colored balls that, when caught, clear all of the same colored balls on screen, and lastly power-ups that slow or stop the progression of the ball line. These are all power-up clones available in Luxor. I haven't run into the reverse or lightening power-up, but that may be available in other levels or via the purchased ones. The only difference between this game's power-ups and Luxor's is that in Luxor all of the power-ups are earned while you play the game. Inca Ball seems to split them up between the ones you purchase between games and the ones you earn. Some people may like this as the purchased power-ups can be used when you want them as the in-game ones need to be used almost immediately.
One thing I found annoying in this game is that the earned power-ups seem to be truly random. In Luxor, they were provided when it seemed like you were really stuck (about 75% of the time). If I needed a bomb or a particular color, a power-up was forth-coming. Even with this kind of help I still lost many a level as they were very difficult and one needed to use the power-up wisely. There doesn't seem to be this kind of programming included in Inca Ball (which may be why they chose to include the purchased power-ups). More than once I would catch a colored ball (to clear all same colored balls) when there was no more of that color left. Or the line would be stopped as it emerged when there were only 5-6 balls showing and the colors available to shoot weren't in the line.
The look of this game is VERY grainy. It looks absolutely terrible, like something from the late 90's. This is probably my biggest problem with the game as it hurts my eyes a bit. I miss the smooth, polished look of the Luxor series. The music is sounds appropriately "Incan" (whatever that would be, lol), but it's bland and boring and quite repetitive. Ditto for the game play sound effects. When you clear a level, there isn't much fanfare like you get in the Luxor series. To be fair, I think the fanfare in the later Luxor games is WAY over the top, loud, and obnoxious, but in Inca Ball it is extremely subdued, mostly just another grainy animation where a pointer moves another spot on a circular object (presumably the Mayan calendar wheel).
Other than the power-ups, the game play seems to match Luxor's exactly. You left-click to shoot, right-click to cycle between the power-ups or the next ball in your arsenal. Catching a power-up changes the loaded ball into that power-up. If two power-ups are available to catch, you can catch the first, then cycle to the next ball in line and catch the second; then use both in a row or use one and remember to cycle a normal ball before each shoot. You get extra points for combination moves and can shoot the balls into oblivion to cycle to a color you need.
One curious aspect of the game is what happens between levels. Once you finish a level, you are brought to the power-up purchase screen, which pretty much looks like a default menu screen, only you can't access the "menu" option in the upper right. This is the only landing screen between levels. If you want to exit the game, you have to do so while you are playing on a level. That just strikes me as very strange and, yes, I don't like it. Once I was able to access the "menu" option again, I chose to exit the game, only to be asked a second time if I wanted to exit the game or return to the main menu. I'm not sure why I needed to exit the game twice, but I would prefer to be given the choice to exit the game immediately or exit to the main menu on one screen.
This isn't a bad game. It's quite addictive and everything seems to function well. This is a fine game to play and can be quite enjoyable, and I say this as someone who much prefers the Luxor series. If you own the Luxor games, this is going to seem like a very poor relation, but I think mostly because of the lackluster graphics. Everything else about this game functions almost the same and I haven't run into any issues with the game play itself - no bugs, hang-ups, or mis-shooting.

I play this game at least once a week. I can "almost" win without powerups...two screens are just too hard...the rest are doable. So....as I do use powerups at the end of the game...I suggest adding more complexity: either additional trails the balls follow or more different colored balls. I don't think I would speed the balls up though....the "fun" is identifying the ball sequence and whether or not you have that color or next to shoot.
Near the 3/4 mark, seems to me you have too many of the same color balls in a row making it rather simple.
Still, very addictive game with good action.

I love this game! As I lost it when I did one of the computer changes, I’m butt dancing in my chair at getting it back.
First of all, installed fine without issue on Win10, the nightmare that it is ( I miss WinXP and 7 * sobs * ) and runs without a problem. Though I don’t like the MyPlayCity page opening, I’ll live with it.
This one is one of the better games of this genre. While the graphics aren’t as good as some in this class, the music is decent (at least it’s not annoying like so many have!), the graphics are all right, the play is fast and good. It will give you many hours of enjoyment as the replayability of this is perfect. It’s also harder than most in this class of games, which is great!
While it’s a good one, it has some downsides. The fact you have to start a level to exit the game (unless I’m missing a button somewhere) is annoying as all get out! That needs fixed, honestly. The graphics could use some tweaking as well, though not much. The background graphics makes it hard to see the buttons you need and read them. These are just minor tweaks which could improve the game immensely.
Overall, a huge thumbs up from me!
