I agree with 53, this game needs to be released again. My husband deleted the zipped folder before I could activate the game, so I only got the demo version.

Wow. I haven't found a reason to be interested in a break-out clone in a long time. Very well done.

Wow, spectacular graphics!

This game is awesome, but the graphics are way to heavy, you should be able to set it up for a smaller screen size. My daughter downloaded it and it ran fine on her laptop, my wife downloaded it and it ran super slow. I am going to dl it now on an old p4 1.5 with a 64meg graphics card just to see if the machine can handle it.

I was told this game is cool...I want to try it out BUT I have downloaded this game (a few times) did what it told me to, then read what other did to make it work and still nothing. I click on the game after its all done downloading....it runs though themain screen then two others in the begining...then it takes me back to my main computer screen.
What am I doingwrong...someone?

Thanks GGOTD for the super game. It's the first arkanoid I downloaded and I'm sure glad I did. Alawar has great games. Merod (#15) and Game Seeker(#31), thanks for the tips about the Survival Pack. I'm all set for hours of fun.

Nice graphics that pushed my video card to and beyond its limits! Played 22 of the traditional levels OK, then the screen simply locked up on me. I suspect its time I installed a better card that's been hanging around waiting to go in since Xmas!

This game is awesome. The first time I d/led it, I messed up and got the 60 minute version, but then I went back and did it over and it's great. I put it on my husband's computer and called my grandson (12) and told him how to d/l it to his computer. I love it. Even the music is good. I usually have to turn off the sound/music on games because it's very annoying. Thanks !!!!

Registration is simple. Run Activate.exe FIRST, then run the setup.

@21: Yeah, the death thing is really annoying. However, it does add some difficulty to the game. (And frustration! :] )

Is this game only supposed to be a trial game? I thought it was suposed to be completely free? Any comments?

Re: # 33, BillW50. It should run fine on one of your newer machines. If you want to run it on the older one it may help to go into options and change 32 bit to 16 bit. Default setting on install is 32 bit.

Well here is one of my systems:

Gateway Celeron M 370 (1.5GHZ)
MX6124 (laptop) w/512MB
Windows XP Home SP2
Intel® 910GML (64MB shared)

And this game works fine until you actually start playing. And the frame rate is like 1 frame per 5 seconds. Ouch! I don't know what kind of beefy video card you need, but this one doesn't cut it. I couldn't play the last 3 screen savers either very well. And only one other game or two out of the 40 plus I have downloaded from here also didn't play correctly. I do know this video card of mine really does flies if the game is using DirectX. Those that do not, sometimes runs very slowly. Sigh. Off to try on another machine. Enjoy!

You may think "Another 2D breakout clone?". I thought so too, but decided to try it anyway. Don't miss this one! As #6 Stephen (extreme arkanoid fan) says, this one has beautiful graphics for a 2D. Of all the many arkanoids offered here, this one and the 3D Egyptoid are the only ones I have kept.

Game play is different, pieces move and there's a lot of different kinds of bonuses to keep it interesting. Some bonuses are negative, especially don't catch the skull. Music, sounds and sensitivity all adjustable in options. Also in options are choice of 32 or 16 bit and use of mouse or joystick. There's a Hints option that can be left on or shut off, default is on. Hints flashes popups during play to tell you what each bonus does, read it then click OK to shut off the hint. It only tells you one time for each type bonus, but popups during play can be somewhat annoying so remember to shut it off in options if you don't want those.

Choose from four difficulty levels, easy, normal, hard and expert. After hitting Play you get a choice of three "worlds", Traditional, Exotic, or Extreme. Once you have the game properly activated and installed, go to Alawar and get the free Survival Pack, it's the last one on the list at this link:

After downloading the Survival Pack .exe file, double-click on it and it will find your installation of Hyperballoid and automatically install the new game pack. This gives a fourth choice along with Traditional, Exotic and Extreme. Game play on the Survival Pack is very fast and quite different than traditional arkanoids.

To those getting the trial version, it's not this site's fault. You neglected to run activate.exe before installing as the readme.txt directed. But don't worry, you can still register for free even though you installed first and you do not need to uninstall, redownload and reinstall. Simply follow directions below:

Close the game completely, go back to the original zip file you downloaded from this site and look for the file activate.exe. Make sure your internet connection is open and then double-click on activate.exe. You will see a small box that says "successfully activated", click OK on that. You will then be taken to a web page that tells you you have activated the fully registered version of this game. Close the web page and reopen the game to find it's fully registered with no time limit.

This is certainly one of the better Arkanoid clones available. The graphics and sounds are well done. Paddle control is good, especially set on "max" sensitivity.

The action was a little jerky at times, but this could be the fault of the machine and not the program.

This program is missing support for multiple players. It does allow you to save and exit, but does not support multiple saved games. (This is a feature of Ricochet Xtreme that I have become accustomed to.)

Overall, I'd give this program a "thumbs up" "8" based on playability. The layouts and graphics may not be to everyone's taste, but the game is at least playable!

I like this game. By the same makers of Aquaball, I was certain I would enjoy it, so it really was no surprise. Many of the bonuses are the same. Only one feature of gameplay I didn't like (getting a death "bonus" and then not getting a new paddle until your ball was off the playing field... ALL those bonuses gone!) but on the whole it was loads of fun. Thanks, GGOTD!

Great game, but unfortunately it crashes Windows on my machine and reboots every couple of games. Blue screen apears too briefly to see what the error is.

I had the same problem #10 (Trisha). It's the first time it happens!!!
I'm trying now to download it again after uninstall all the game.

#10 - After you run the set-up, you then need to go back and run the "Activate" portion. That has the key that unlocks the game for the full version. I have only had one occasion where the key didnt d/l, but it works just fine today.

ok i have a question is there any way that these games can be burned to a disc where if we had to reformat we wouldnt lose them i sure do hope so lol

okay I downloaded the game but it is only the 60 minute version. I thought it said the complete edition. Does not give any licence number etc. How come?? Arent these game giveaways. I have had a couple like this . Anyone else with the same problems???? Trisha

Once again a nice game but does only work in full screen (no option to window it) and thus is not compatible with multi-monitors.

I forgot to mention that if you did decide to buy the whole lot, then get them on the same order as you get 20% (or possibly 30%) off all purchases when you buy more than one game.

Thank you Alawar and GGOtD for giving this game away. It's one of Alawars top arkanoid games, so there's hope for Magic Ball 3 which has to be the pinnacle in 3D Arkanoids with respect to beautifully rendered graphics, ball and block physics and playability. There's a new one being released in March called Roboball. Looks fantastic.

Again Alawar is the greatest. Beautiful graphics, it's not the same, but at least so good as MagicBall2. But it's the same kind of game again. I still hope for other kind of games of Alawar, like Grand Master Chess Online & Mini golf. So in a scale from 0-10 I give the program 9 points.
