Hunters For Your Brain is a top down zombie shooter with decent graphics.

The aim of the game is to survive successive waves of zombies. You have to clear each level of zombies. The main issue I have with this game is that once you've cleared the level of the first wave of zombies, the next wave re-spawn totally surrounding you. That in itself isn't a problem except that to kill a zombie you have to keep them within the reticule of the shotgun that you start the game with. If they are too close to you, you cannot kill them. When that second wave hits most of the zombies are too close to you, and there doesn't appear to be anywhere to escape without running into the zombies (unless you act very quickly when they re-spawn) way to escape/get past them so you basically get swamped by zombies and die. I tried several times to get past this second wave and failed every time. If it is possible then this game is definitely a keeper, however, as I'm still really busy at the moment I cannot spend any more time figuring out how to get past that second wave until maybe later this evening.

You get three lives, if you lose all three lives you start from the beginning again. The shotgun comes loaded with five shells, but pressing the R key before you start will load up an extra shell. There are health packs and bullet recharges found around the level, but don't pick up one of these if your health is still high as they are wasted if you do. Better to leave them until your health or ammo supply is running low. Just walk over them to pick them up. The red barrels explode if you shoot them, but after shooting a few I died each time as the blast covers quite a large area and becasue you can only hit something within the reticule, you will always be too close to the barrels to avoid a lot of damage to yourself.

There is no options menu or the ability to change the key bindings. You can move using the WASD or the ↑,↓ ← → keys. F changes the lighting slightly and R is reload, space bar allows you to jump over obstacles and your mouse allows you to turn around. The indicator on the bottom left shows your weapon , the number of bullets left in the weapon and the amount of ammo left, the indicator on the bottom right shows your health and the number of lives you have left.

The game installs to C:\Program Files (x86)\Hunters For Your Brain by default, but can be changed if you wish. You can delete four of the five desktop shortcuts apart from the games shortcut; (i.e. Falco Space - Online Game!, FalconLine Online Games Website, FalcoGo WebGL Games! and Free Games Downloads!). Once installed the game is almost 1 gigabyte in size.

Conclusion:

After watching a few of the videos I've posted above, you can get past the second wave of zombies so long as you act quickly; you just need to move away from the area as soon as they re-spawn instead of trying to shoot them immediately. The level designs look good, but they are very similar so the game could become boring after a short time. The game would be much improved with different environments, the ability to shoot without having to keep the zombies within the reticule i.e either nearer or further away, and include some different weapons to play with. Personally I will be keeping this game at least for now as I would like to explore it further, but, as mentioned above I don't have much spare time at the moment. My recommendation would be to download the game and check it out for yourself. If you have a slow internet connection it may take several minutes to download as the unwrapped executable is around 300MB in size before installation.
