I don't known what happened with this giveaway. All the keys had gone within an hour of the game going live. Although the giveaway team have put in place protection to stop robots and greedy/selfish community members from getting more than a couple of keys (you do need separate Steam accounts to get a second key), it does look like (though I'm not certain) something has gone amiss. I've contacted the team to see if things can be checked and hopefully sorted. I assume we will get an announcement from the team sometime today. There's no way 5000 keys have been applied for by the community in the normal way, especially as Wednesday isn't a normal game giveaway day and considering the largest giveaway community is in the US, most of who would still have been in bed when this went live this morning. I do hope things are sorted. Thankfully, if someone has hacked and got all of those keys, they can be invalidated by the developer, so anyone buying those keys will find they are useless. Lets hope if the keys have been ripped off that is the case

Suggestions:

If you get a key for Horror Hospital, please give some feedback about your opinion of the game, for example, what you liked or disliked about it, or how it could be improved from your point of view . If you don't like this genre at all, please explain why. What, improvements, if any, would change your opinion? There are thousands of subscribers to the game giveaway of the day every weekend which makes this an ideal forum for giving developers ideas as to what their consumers (i.e you) would like to see in a game. For example, you could suggest extra content such as better or more original mini games, or a level editor that you would like to see that would make it more appealing to you. Maybe you think the graphics are a little dated and are in need of re skinning, or maybe you've just had enough of the genre and want to see something different or something with more originality?

If you miss today's giveaway and don't mind playing games via Steam you can get the game 24/7 via Steam HERE. It usually costs £1.99/$2.99, but is on sale till until 6pm today, with 20% off costing £1.59/$2.39

Installation:

Assuming you get a Steam key for Horror Hospital, once you've found it (should be sent to the email you used to enter the giveaway) you have to activate the game via your Steam client. Once activated it will be permanently tied to your Steam profile and you'll be able to install the game at any time, anywhere on any computer, so long as you can validate who you are (usually via emails etc). If you don't have a Steam account you will first have to download and install the Steam client HERE

Ashampoo_Snap_2017.01.11_13h28m59s_006_Horror Ho
Then create a Steam profile/account. Once that has been completed you can input the Steam code that you've received (after completing the form filling) via the game button along the top of the Steam client, (located between friends and Help - see image below). From the drop down menu select 'Activate a product on Steam'. This opens a product activation window. Just follow the prompts to complete activation. Once the Steam code has been accepted, the game will be permanently associated with your Steam account and can be installed any time you wish.

If you have a problem installing or activating or getting Horror Hospital to work, please visit the problems section over in the Game Discussion forums, which I've now incorporated into the FAQ's thread, and which you can find HERE

Conclusion:

I had to give up playing the game after about 5 minutes. The camera motion when you walk through the hospital made me feel really sick. I tried resting my eyes then returning to the game and the nausea returned very quickly. For me this game although looking like it could be an interesting horror experience was just too discomforting for me to play long enough to give a fair conclusion. I would recommend the developer remove the swaying that is supposed to represent someone walking. That should get rid of the motion sickness that I'm sure others will experience as well.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the developer Kırmızı Nokta Production for giving away 5000 keys for this psychological horror game and also to the game giveaway team, as always, for securing other ways to get free games, in this case Steam keys.

Whiterabbit-uk, ppl have dozens of accounts to farm from cards from free games. I have only one, but im probably in minority.
Maybe you could consider certainh ammount of keys per hour. Or hihgier steam level to get key. level over 10 would banish some fake accounts. Or facebook connection, they probbaly dont have one fb account for 1 fake steam account.
Good idea would be raffle like indiegala have. One chance per 5-10min on one browser with cookies. It takes some effort so no everybody will try to abuse it.
Maybe some1 have better ideas. In those kind of raffles the scammers profit.
grats

Hi jan vandam

Possible, but I wouldn't think it worthwhile applying individually for each key considering how much the game costs full price. That is unless loads of community members were farming at the same time I don't see how 5000 keys could be taken so quickly, especially as the biggest giveaway community are in the Us most of who would have been in bed when the giveaway went live. Still, you may be right.
I have two Steam accounts, my main one and a secondary account which I set up for my children's friends for when they had sleep overs. They used to play a lot of different co-op games together, which is the main reason I created a second account, but it also came in useful when adding keys I got from indie bundles. Both my children are at the point sleep overs are a thing of the past and even if they did stay over, all of their friends now have Steam accounts. Several years ago, when I first set up my second account none of their friends had Steam accounts and those that were allowed to play games (we always asked parents) usually didn't have more than one PC in the home whereas I've always had several for the past decade and made sure my children had their own PC's at a fairly early age. (Mainly because I always build my own apart from the very first PC I purchased)
If community members are able to and are farming these keys it's a very selfish thing to do especially when it stops a large part of the community getting a key. Maybe they should only allow one key per IP address and ban those that come via vpn. That would stop community members, at least the majority from getting more than one key (I'm sure there will always be those that know a way around any security). Thanks for your suggestions.; hopefully the giveaway team will sort it out. They do have a tech team that look into such matters.

Whiterabbit-uk,

Sadly it might be coming down to where everyone will need to have an actual account here at Giveawayoftheday. To get a free game or app you will need to have verified you are a "member" and log in to get the giveaway. Something with multiple layer authentication perhaps. I know that will result in a huge outcry from the usual suspects who complain about everything they don't like about being given something for free, but how else can the risk of such things continuing to happen be minimized?

Thanks for all that you do to make this site more enjoyable. I always appreciate your reviews and updates about other giveaways.

Thank you for your suggestion Louis, I'd have no problem with that. A free game is a free game, even if you have to create an account. I have multiple emails, each one used for specific purposes. One email is used for family and close friends only, another one for business yet another for game accounts etc. It all comes down to what you trust and careful surfing.

I keep checking back, but I haven't seen any new keys released. Would love to get my hands on this one. I'm not a huge steam fan, but games like this are certainly cool! I will check throughout the day and keep my fingers crossed. How will we know though? Nothing at the top shows there are no keys remaining.

You need to stop with the Steam ....removed due to inappropriate language..........,and limiting the giveaways, how are people supposed to fairly evaluate a new game if they can't play it?

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

Hi Donald

Not all Steam games are limited. We get around 50:50 global to competition keys. For those that don't get a key till later, reviews, comments/feedback are still always welcome after they have played the game. Most of the Steam games we've been given so far are from new small indie developers, so I'm sure they appreciate any feedback given. The site is catering to all gamers.
There are over a hundred million active Steam users and at any one time there's upwards of 6 million Steam community members actually playing games via the client, with twice as many signed into their Steam accounts and perusing the various area's of the game client, talking to other Steam users checking out the store/Steam market or checking out the community threads/Steam workshop and news area's. Steam has become the number one game platform thanks to it's constant sales, it's excellent game client and a great community. If you don't like Steam, then move on to the next non Steam game.

I didn't even get email (even though I think I am signed up for notifications), I just check the site every morning and evening. This time I went to work (yes, I work night shifts) and in the morning it's all over... Really, really unusual and highly suspicious...

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

Hi Nadiya

I don't know what happened. As I've said elsewhere, all of the keys had gone by the time I knew there was a giveaway, one hour into the giveaway, another community member said they came on less than half an hour after the game went live and all of the keys had gone. It definitely seems suspicious. I've not had time to check the Steam giveaway sites to see if anyone is trying to sell keys for this game. I'm sure the giveaway team will be looking into the issue.

I've never been able to download anything from STEAM. Every single time I've tried (dozens of times) I can't get past their bot check. I've no idea what I'm doing wrong, but I've gotten to the point that I won't even try to get a game if it comes from STEAM. Surely, I'm not the only one that has a problem with their website?

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

Hi Ashara, there's nothing wrong with their web site. it's more likely that the problem lies at your end. (Please don't take that the wrong way). If the fault lay at the web sites end everyone would have the same issue, but thousands of community members are able to get Steam keys, so you're either not doing something right, your security may be blocking you or something else may be conflicting with it.

it could be "reddit fever" that has caused the keys to go so quick.
When giveawayoftheday offers first started appearing on the two reddit threads it wasn't too bad.
I think now lots of reddit users have joined giveawayoftheday and have their accounts setup so they can rush through the requirements really quick.
Same thing happened on Otakumaker giveaways.

But.... if it is thieving hackers i hope the keys will be invalidated, :)

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

You may be right and yes, lets hope if they were they are invalidated; still, 5000 keys going so fast still seems a little too fast, especially as the largest giveaway community, i.e. the US, would still be in bed when the giveaway went live at 8am UK time, that equates to 3am Eastern time.

E-mail time stamped 7:19, less than 30 minutes and keys gone???

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

Hi wysguyeman

I've contacted the team as there is definitely something wrong with 5000 keys going in less than an hour, especially on a day we don't usually get games and considering the largest giveaway community lives in the US where most would be in bed when the game went live. I received an email just after 7am this morning letting me know that there was a game this morning, but I didn't see it till just before 9am. I immediately went to the giveaway page only to find the giveaway was already over. Usually when all the keys have gone the giveaway team try to get more keys, but this is very unusual all the keys going so fast.

I cannot explain it, but a couple of giveaway members have come up with logical explanations such as being informed via Reddit and dishonest/greedy/selfish community members with lots of Steam accounts, farming the keys. So long as you have a different Steam account and email for each key you apply for , I think you can still get more than one key, but it seems such an effort applying for them considering the cost of the actual game (usually £1.99/$2.99, but at the moment £1.59/$2.39). I still cannot see so many keys going in such a short time unless hundreds of giveaway community members were farming the keys. I think the most logical explanation is someone has hacked the site, but I cannot qualify that statement. Lets hope the giveaway tech team find out what really happened. I'd already purchased the game when it was released on Steam on the 4th January. I was unable to play if for more than 5 minutes due to the camera motion, which gave me nausea and a head ache. When I tried to return later, the nausea hit me even quicker, so for me the game is unplayable. It's been over 3 hours since I last tried and I still feel a little queasy. so won't be returning to the game unless the developer releases an update that removes the camera motion.. I'd request a refund it if was an expensive game, but I got it with the 20% discount ans as it was less than £2 I ' m going to leave it as hopefully the money will go towards the developers next game. I'm all for supporting indie developers :)

Bootham VisionStudios is better
this is a copy cat

...........................................Moderator comment...................................

Hello thanks but no

Bootham is good, but Horror Hospital isn't a direct copy, it couldn't be becasue Horror Hospital was released before Bootham. Horror Hospital was originally released early in 2016, not on the 4th Jan 2017 as Steam indicates. Whereas Bootham was released October 2016.

Did you manage to get a copy before the keys went? I bought it on release via Steam last week and although there are lots of similarities; like many games it's not a copy. Virtually every game you see these days is a copy of other and earlier games, take all match three's, all HOG's, all TM games, Tower Defense, strategy, simulation, and First Person shooters. Same goes for Horror Hospital. for those interested you can get Bootham free via GameJolt HERE.
