I was comment #58, regarding difficulty with my playing. After a few minutes of playing I had the mess go on my screen and it got worse by the second. I checked my pc and pulled on my graphics card and cleaned the fan of all the dust in the copper vents etc, (it was filthy) and now it looks like champ at 1920x 1200 my standard setting. Sorry guys for thinking it was something wrong on installtion or settings. I don't play games and I guess I will start ..since games are a good way of testing your graphics card for any issues. Tanks and sorry for the belated posting on this but I just today got it fixed.

Not a bad game at all, Downloaded and installed fine
(Nice also to see simple *mouse to move* controls making it easy to drink whilst playing) :-)

Nice one Zodiac comment #26; tough I'm not sure whether what was said about these games being pirated is true. I think they will be paying the developers for being able to use their games. But then again I may be wrong. you are absolutely right though about beng taken to the home page. But apart from that there is no other price to be paid. I've been downloading games from Gametop, which is almost certainly connected with Freegamepick as they both have the same games and both seem Forex orientated. Read my review of Machine Hell in the forums as I mention it there as well:

okay guys, this is my first game download from GOT...and I am not really a game player, but was curious after the description of how this game looks.
My problem...after playing a little bit into the first round, my 24" dell monitor (2405fpw) looks sort of choppy like a giant asterisk spewing from the center of my screen during the game. I have tried this game at several settings but still acts up???
My pc...a8n premium edition mob.
2 STICKS OF 1 GIG EACH CORSAIR MEMORY, LOW LATENCY
FX55 AMD CPU
GRAPHICS CARD ...6800GT MSI PCI
oKAY,If anyone could be so kind to help me, i know this is not the way to ask, but this is my first time here and my first game download was a dud and funny thing, never had a problem with any of the GOT software in downloading. Is my machine too outdated already?

White Rabbit: On installing Machine Hell you get the choice of setting screen resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 32 bit. Where should the setting be at. I have Windows XP Home SP2 3.0 w/HT Intel pentium 4 w/HT. How do you change it back to the other settings.
Save | Cancel
This game worked somewhat slow and choppy on my Windows XP machine until I adjusted the resolution settings and my mouse settings.
On my Windows Vista machine, it works PERFECTLY. There are no problems here with Vista, at least for me.
Overall I love the graphix and the sounds, however I did turn off the music as I do with most every game. I like the fact that there is no blood and gore (don't get me wrong, I like blood and gore in video games) because my son likes to stand beside me and watch the "baddies" and the buildings blow up.
Another great game IMO - very much worth the download and a great change of pace. 7 out of 10!

Nice graphics and sounds. A bit choppy on my computer though. (1.8 Ghz CPU, 1.5 GB RAM) Also, whats up with 3 button mouse controls? Nobody uses 3 button mouses anymore. (The scroll wouldn't work as the middle button)
And the most obvious thing... No controller support for a shooter?? I was really surprised to see the game only supports keyboard and mouse.

please #51 don't compare this repetitive try hard arcade shooter to one of the greatest first person shooters of all time. Didn't rate this one uses fancy graphics to mask its poor gameplay. It not match 3 though i guess which is a good thing.

Very nice shooter/scroller. Very smooth--runs well on Vista. Has a "terminator" feel. Several levels and all in a small < 10MB package. Just shows you don't need bloatware to have a good game.

Thanks for another great game - downloaded quickly, setup went fast and plays just fine on my Windows XP. I am not a big - fight - game player but this one is really fun - blow up buildings, too. Also, I started on the 'easy' mode, but there are even harder levels. Thanks!

Perhaps it's my computer, but this game is absolutely plagued with slowdown, to the degree it is unplayable. I have rarely had that problem with games downloaded here.
In the brief time I played it, I determined it to be an amateur effort that tries to pass itself off as the work of professional. I would not pay $20 for it. The menus are well-done, but the all-around in-game sophistication is low.

I have enjoyed playing this game immensely. I give it my thumbs up. It is fun and mindless, which is what i need sometimes. I never post comments but today is an exception. Thanks to GOTD, coming up with a potential 365 games to giveaway a year must be difficult but there will always be something for everyone you just have to be patient.

I like this game! one of the main features I liked, is at first start up you can adjust your Video mode ( screen Res... ).
My Desktop runs: 19" screen-1024 by 768-32 bit .
My Laptop runs: 17" screen-1280 by 768-32 bit.
This comes in real handy for Laptop users, as most PC games that I have don't play the full screen on my Laptop! I do Beta testing on PC games. One thing I have learned is I test on both. As some users only have a Laptop. This was a nice surprize to see, I also like games with mouse sensitivity controls. This is not my usual type of game, but I am now very open minded! Yes, the play could be a little faster, but lol, I failed the first go around! Suki
Thanks GAOTD!

"#3 - First, the giveaways update based upon your local timezone (IOW, the world doesn’t revolve around you)"
No, it updates on one server, at one time. That's why people in California get new games at midnight and people in China get new games at noon.

FreeGamePick basically pirates games, adds their logo to the title screens, and opens their website when you quit. Machine World is just MachineHell with a different name and a much lower price tag.

I seem to be having an issue with the controls that nobody else has mentioned. Even with the mouse sensitivity set to the highest, it takes me a full 16 inches of mouse movement to get from side to side. I am a bit picky on this issue (normally, it takes me about 3" of movement to cover Desktop side to side) but I kept having to recenter the mouse to keep off the edges of my desk. Not to mention that I played this in 800x600, a good bit smaller than my desktop.

This is a great game. Lots of gratuitous explosions and mayhem. AND it supports wide-screen monitor format?! I was afraid I was going to have to "thumbs down" this when I read it was without a "windowed" mode. But, as usual I try before I rate, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see it fully supports (and wonderfully so, not a cheap "centering" of the image like some games/apps I've seen do) my 1650x1080 and 1280x800 desktop and laptop displays. Kudos to the developers for such forward thinking there. Everyone with a wide screen is sure to love that bonus!
Overall the game is a simple shooter, like so many (Raiden comes to mind from the old arcades I used to haunt) but it's got sharp graphics, some unique weapons and enemies, and is well worth the time playing. It's a load of fun. ^_^

omg, I lost my False Teeth and Me Glass Eye on the first round. Nice work guys...
Graphic and affects are nice, I may need to try setting my mouse on hyper speed to make it move with more speed and navigation.
Its worth the price.

#26 : I was thinking exactly the same thing when I saw the screenshots.
I've downloaded Machine World from the site you linked to previously, and it sure looks and sounds the same, although this could be a follow up - I'm not sure?
The thing I do remember of that download from Gamepick is that it does send you to the Gamepick site whenever you close the game (although it is virus-free), so it could be considered an adware version?
Having said that, the game (the Gamepick version)is not bad for an old-school, kind of top down view shooter. OK for a short, frantic blast now and again, although I lost it on a re-format a while back and never replaced it.
I would like to know if this is the same game, if anyone knows.
Oh - and it's good to see a space shooter back on here. It's been a while :)

Today’s game was given away back in March 2007, and received 84% of 197 positive votes. I reviewed the game back then so will just repeat that review with a few additions as I’m busy over on the forums at the moment. I‘ve been writing reviews about the Freeware games that have been found by others. You shuld pop over there oce you’ve commented on todays excellent action shooter. You can read the previous comments from this giveaway by following the link below and to go to the forums for some excellent chat and other programs both games and applications follow the second link, I’ll be posting links to loads of games from the 2007 Independent Games of the Year Awards within an hour or so, some of which are brilliant. I really have no need to expand on today’s excellent review by Alexander

My Previous Review:
This is a reasonable action game, similar to the old favorite Machine Nation, but much better graphics. The eye candy is okay, but not as good as Jets and Guns (IMO) a previous giveaway and a similar arcade game that has a lot more levels and some great game play. (not tat the gameplay with this game isn’t enjoyable  Comparing the two I’d rate these 6 out of 10 for Machine Nation, as opposed to 8 out of 10 for Jets and Guns; mainly because there are only 15 levels to the full version game. And for that reason I think it’s not worth the price tag in my opinion, considering the number of levels is so limited. (okay we are getting it free today) You can get two very similar games called Air Attack and Air Attack II for free , with much better graphics and more levels from the following addresses: I’d rate these 8 out of 10

http://www.gametop.com/download_free_shooting/games_air_assault2.html
Although you do get a screen on closing down the game that takes you to the homepage; however this isn’t so bad because it informs you of any new games that they have acquired. There are no other problems. I’ve been downloaded games from this site for a few years now and have never had any problems with virus’s or other malware. You’ll find quite a lot of commercial games being given away free, available from most genres, including several larger first person/third person shooters and others that have been made freeware. (eg Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2) You can see all the games that are available at:
http://www.gametop.com/index_us.html
On installing Machine Hell you get the choice of setting screen resolutions up to 1280 x 1024 32 bit. The options menu allows you to change the usual parameters such as music and sound. There’s no story line as in some games like this, but that doesn’t detract from the game. Some people find the interruption to the game play annoying any way (not me though).
Thank you very much Nuclear Games and the GGAotD team for giving away this enjoyable shooter. :D. My son is going to love this one. He’s getting overloaded with games recently, what with Christmas only just receding into the past, his birthday and some other excellent games given away here and via the forums in the form of freeware games.
Have a great day folks

Great little shoot-em up game. Graphics aren't bad and game play should keep my son busy. Nice add-on to his collection of games. Thanks GGAOTD and Nuclear Games for giving away this freebie. It sure beats the duldrums of match 3 or blast n bash games.Like #16 no black outs here either.

Giggle - #11 said it - great time waster :o)) Again a Supposedly 32MB Graphics card required and it played on my 8MB punny Intel chipset on my DEll Inspiron 9400... Yeah I know - go get a games machine. But point is the spec requirements for the game can be misleading... The rule seems to be "If in doubt - try it out!" I've missed several games I really wanted cos I didn't think they would play :o(
Save | Cancel
Tried and liked. Did not experience the same "blackout" as #12.
A few minor criticisms to an otherwise fairly fun game, after playing two full rounds.
- When you exit the level to the main menu, you don't receive any sort of warning that you're leaving the gameplay permanently, and it takes you to the high score table. A "quit Y/N?" warning is fairly standard, but not here.
- The statistics at the end of the level appear to be broken. They always show zero except for score.
- Some enemies, like the boss at the end of Act 1, are avoid-only, and it doesn't seem like you can get a shot in against them until you pass them.
- Too many power-ups - you could never shoot all the bullets that you're capable of picking up.
Aside from these minor quibbles, the gameplay appears fairly standard for a rail shooter, and I'll likely play all the levels.
Thanks, GGOTD. Was looking for a shooter.
