Guess Country
In Brief
A simple guess the name of the country via a picture of the flag puzzle game. You can see a video of game play HERE. There are some spelling issues with this game; for example in the video you can see both Australia and Turkey spelled incorrectly.
The Game
A nice little flag puzzle game made with Unity with spelling elements and a link to Wikipedia information about the game; so that you can learn about the countries included in this game. If you only have a singe monitor set up, you won't be able to see the Wikipedia information until you shut the game down, or send it to the task bar because the browser opens behind the game.
Each flag is presented as a large clear image with a couple of rows of jumbled letters underneath. you have to select the correct letters, which when clicked on in the correct order will move to the blanked area's. You can get clues such as a letter from the country, or the full name if you are stuck by spending points you've earned by guessing countries correctly. Other clues include the number of blank boxes, which indicates the number of letters in the country's name (no cost for this one). My third flag was the Australian flag, but when I spelled out the name of the country there was an extra box left, which confused me, so I spent a few points (see images below) to see where I was going wrong. Nope, it was the developers error. They had spelled Australia with an extra i inserted, i.e. Austrailia.
It's a pity the developer didn't check their spellings otherwise this could have been a decent (and fun) learning tool for children (and even some adults), but, as it stands it's more of a hindrance because of the poor spelling.
If the developer was willing to fix the issue it would even be worth releasing on Steam (IMO). It's currently available on Itch.io. I may post a comment on that site to inform the developer of the mistakes he's made as I'm certain there will be other mistakes.
Update, a community member has already confirmed more mistakes after only five attempts; two out of the five counties were incorrectly spelled, which doesn't bode well for the rest of the game. I've also posted a comment about the spelling issues on the developers page over on Itch.io HERE

Please stay safe everyone. I'm a little worried at the moment because my wife has to travel to and work in a high risk area NW of Manchester (Oldham) weekdays teaching 16 to 18 year olds, and has no easy access to testing.

Whiterabbit-uk, I hope your wife will be able to keep herself safe, even in those circumstances. I'm worried about schools reopening and possible the tourist industry too. It's a nail biting year alright. Best wishes for you and the family.

Dana,
Thank you Dana. You stay safe as well. I need a new pair of reading glasses, but won#t go to the opticians until a vaccine is available, plus I've not had my hair cut since August 2019, and again won't go to a barber/hairdresser for the same reason. I also won't let my wife cut my hair.
I used to be able to sit on my hair, but had it all cut off as a Valentines surprise before the kids were born as my wife virtually every day for years asked me to get it cut. Since then I've kept my hair off my collar, but now it's probably the longest I've had it since that day. :)

Wow, great game! You can pump your brain and knowledge! I would suggest such a game to schoolchildren, they would probably memorize countries faster with the help of the game. Plus, you can read the wikipedia right away, which is very useful. I tried the game, and guessed 70 countries so far. Hopefully, in the future I'll guess all of them! True, I would replace the usual pictures of flags with actual pictures of those flags. I think it would be much more interesting that way!

Doesn't even know how to spell Australia. Enough said. Deleted it.

The first three were very obvious, but the next was spelt AUSTRAILIA, so I've deleted the game.

Cute idea - but needs some work.

You're basically given a flag and you must build the name from the letters given. You can ask for clues - like show a letter and specify which letter - show only the letters that make up the flag - or show the solution.

However, some country names are spelled wrong - notably Turkey was spelled as Turky, Australia was spelled as Austrailia and this was basically 2 out of 5 flags before I gave up.

The info - simply opens the Wikipedia page - of course where the name is spelled wrong, then you get a page not found error.
