We are celebrating my youngest sons 24th birthday today, so I'll be rather busy for most of the day. His birthday isn't until the 4th, but family members are going on vacation tomorrow, plus he's working on his birthday, so we've brought his party forwards two days as everyone is still on their Christmas and New Years break. I may not be online until this evening, so probably won't be able to moderate until then.
Grow:
In Brief:
I booted up Grow but didn't have a lot of time to play and couldn't figure out what the controls to use, so initially gave up last night as I wasn't able to access the Play button. I tried changing my monitors screen resolution, but that didn't help. The description below the count down timer above gives no helpful information, however on returning to the game this morning I happened to read the text document located inside the installed games folder.
I wasn't able to capture any in game screen captures; both my screen capture programs wouldn't capture the game while in full screen and I couldn't find any way to move the game to a window, so I've used the two images posted on Ashoots itch.io page HERE. Every time I tried to take a screen capture the game would drop to the task bar and the screen capture would just show my desktop.

There is a read me inside the installed games folder that said the following:

The game is about a plant, that is growing higher and higher, eating all, that it needs for grow! The game controls are intuitive, only using the mouse.

Catch falling people and beware of the bombs.

If the game is not running, execute "GrowLow.exe"

The web address found in the read me is dead. Also it seems that Ashoot goes under other nom de plume's as the game was by Palmar. Other Ashoot games have also had different names associated with the games that Ashoot had given away here. I did contact Itch.io a couple of times about this matter some months ago, but never received any replies from them.

If you are able to access the game via the play button I believe (after watching the video) that you have to catch the falling people with the plant growth and avoid the bombs. Grow as high as you can. Sounds like an interesting and pretty relaxing game, but, unfortunately I'm unable to play it (sadly)

You can see a video of game play HERE

Whiterabbit-uk,

I managed to get the game running by selecting the second executable (GrowLow.exe).

Save the falling people by moving your mouse along it's XY axis. If you catch bombs you lose -3 points (or height) catch humans to score +1. There's an energy meter. This appears to shrink quicker if you pick up bombs. When the energy meter reaches zero the game ends. I think picking up humans adds +1 to the energy meter (the plants food basically); (unfortunately I don't have time to continue playing to check this until later this evening)

I couldn't find an exit button so I had to use alt+F4 to exit. This game was created in one of those Gamiron competitions where you get a specific time to build a working game. This probably explains why features you normally expect in a game are missing.

What little time I had to play this game intrigued me so will be keeping this one to explore further another day. It's time to go prepare our sons birthday celebrations.

Whiterabbit-uk,

Notes on Security
I scanned a zipped copy of the installed game using Virus Total and it found 1 hit (Jiangmin) from 65 antimalware engines. Jiangmin is amongst only several antimalware suites that often tag most free game sites compared to most better known and more reliable antimalware engines; so, it's almost certainly a false positive.

You can see the result of the scan HERE

The installation DOES NOT inject any malware into your system. You can delete the shortcuts installed to your desktop. They have no effect on your computer or system.

If you're still not convinced of the games efficacy due to the single hit from 65 antimalware suites and want to be absolutely sure that the game is safe to install, please use a sandbox program to check that the game is safe to install before installing it to your C drive or other drives on your computer (assuming you have more than one drive).

Personally, I've never had any issues with any of falcowares games, even when the Falcoware installer was included.

There are free sandbox programs such as Sanboxie, GeSWall, BitBox, Windows Sandbox, Bufferzone (a six month commercial license was given away via the applications side of the project back in December 2009 HERE), Shadowzone, as well as others. (You'll find them all on the same page from Techwhoop.

A little late to comment but I've been out of commission today as my foot was swollen and I managed to relieve the swelling and it hurts less now. I only just got to this game and I was not able to make of what I was supposed to do in game.

I agree with Whiterabbit-UK in their review as most games we have on here there is a clear objective of what to do. It would be nice for developers of these indie games that submit their titles to GGOTD to include notes in the readme file on how to play the games or maybe helpful hints or tips. Just a suggestion.

Plant who is apparently the godzilla of plantdom after being exposed to radiation requires eating to grow higher and higher... and its appetite is for people! But look out, if the bombs or space shuttles being launched to stop plant hit it, Plants energy is reduced and plant dies. So anyone can tell me where all the people, bombs, and space shuttles are coming from?! Ok if you put your brain on hold, this is just a casual Gamiron competition game missing quite alot in normal games like level ups, changes in the things falling, or likely any end, just grow and grow killing/eating people and avoiding the bombs using your mouse. A nice quick diversion but not a long term keeper.
