Hi everybody. Since Whiterabit is on vacation, I've decided to make up a short review for this giveaway. It won't be that informative I guess, but hope it may help someone to decide whether it's worth playing :P
OK, Forge of Gods is free to play, but it has in game currency that you can purchase for real money or earn by completing quests. What this giveaway offers is a couple of characters which are pretty difficult to get unless you throw your money to the game, + several goodies that can be useful at the start. I'm not sure if the contents of the bundle are picked randomly but here is what I've got:
100k gold (used to level up and evolve your characters)
200 emeralds (used to unlock new characters and buy stuff that will make the game easier)
5 thor hammers (used during the battle to knock the hell out of your enemies)
2 premium units (an elite Winter Dragon and an elite Gargoyle)
and a VIP status (gives you daily rewards and, supposedly, some other priviliges that I haven't figured out yet)
Gameplay:
Just like many other card games, you get a number of units at the start and choose a Warlord (the strongest character of your army). Upon completing levels you get new units and xp to level up your profile. Your units also get xp during the battles, but mainly you level them by turning some of your weak units into xp. The game has a pretty friendly tutorial, so I won't be going into details here, you'll get the hang of it fast. The battles are turn based and I really liked how you play with the environment. The main thing here is the positioning of your units. It's a good idea to put long range units in the first row if the enemies are far away, but if they are 2 sqares away, hide them behinf melee units, otherwise you'll get killed pretty fast. If you see an obstacle, be sure to click on it to learn what it does upon destruction (some of these can spawn enemies). Nevertheless, you can almost forget about the strategy at the start since the units from this pack will allow you to clear most of the early levels.
Graphics:
Someone might not like the cartoonish style but I've always enjoyed it. The artwork looks really great but IMO the game lacks animation, especially in the way the characters move and attack.
Storyline:
Most games of the genre don't have a plot at all. Well here we have a certain storyline that goes through most of the missions you complete. Yet, the storyline is of minor importance and is mainly represented through a bunch of dialogues that pop up during the missions. Nevertheless it's always nice to see that your protagonist has a purpose in a game which mainly consists of killing for fun and coin.
PVP:
There is also a PVP mode, but it's pretty weak. Actually you are playing against an army of one of the users controlled by AI, not a person. The outcome mainly depends on the strength of your army since strategic element is almost phased out.
All in all it's a decent game if you like the genre, so thanks Game GOTD and Panoramik for the offer. I really enjoyed playing it for a couple of hours, hope the devs will work on the animation to make it better.
BTW, You can also add me on the friends list in the game which is also supposed to give you some benefits (like using my Warlord during the misions) my ID is: CTUXRR
Have fun ;)

While I do have a problem with Steam I will give this a thumbs up just for the fact that we don't have to jump through any social media hoops to download it.

I will try and moderate all of the comments made today, over the next few days. So long as you received your Steam keys, the game can be activatedand installed at any time. I won't be around for a couple of weeks afterThursday as I go on vacation to the Black Sea.

Véronique , Ditto: doesn't anyone read the Preface (Intro) before downloading or before giving a thumbs down?
I have my problem with Steam, but that's no reason to give any program a thumbs down.
And if you're going to give a thumbs down at least have the intestinal fortitude to give a valid reason why; other than you don't like the interface.
